McCain didn’t sue the FEC in 2005 to force them to regulate political speech on the internet?

McCain has changed his opinion on CFR since 2005?

The President doesn’t get to select FEC Commissioners?

Regulating political speech on the internet, treating non-journalist blogging as “in kind” donations deserving of fines, and stopping issue communications within 60 days of an election isn’t worth fighting against?

Sorry, I’m missing the part that I got wrong. McCain was worked long and hard to remove the First Amendment regarding political speech and I don’t think he’s done. Everything he’s done in the past points to him continuing this line of attack, and I’m certainly not willing to support the destruction of Constitutionally protected rights; regardless of which party is trying to dismantle the Constitution.

What part of that is dementia?

Or is blocking Hillary/Obama worth damaging the Constitution for? I don’t disagree that Hillary/Obama is bad, but in my book, McCain is worse.

Every bloody Senator and House member is going to say “Right Chief!” so they retain their Congressional seat, and you think we can build around that sycophancy?

Just because McCain served doesn’t mean he is good for the troops. Yes, he was a POW so he won’t screw them the same way other Presidents have, but he wants to close Gitmo which means from now until the second coming, any time we are in a war and encounter enemy combatants, they will get Constitutional rights and public defenders.

That is about as anti-troops as you can get. Here, risk your life soldier, so when we capture terrorists that tried to kill you, your tax dollars can go to the public defenders hired to help them so they get full access to the appellate system and whatever lawsuits the ACLU decides to fund! It is so crazy and wrong, I don’t know where to begin.

If you define McCain being ‘good’ to the troops only within the parameters of he won’t bring them home tomorrow, you’re right. But it’s much more than that.

Think about it… McCain cares more about terrorists being offered additional rights than he does about protecting the free speech of law-abiding legal Americans.

As an aside, neither Hillary or Obama would give a timetable during the debates for the time to withdrawal. They know, especially with the surge going well, that they’ll look like yellow bellies if they leave now.

There are dozens of things McCain could have said that would have softened me. Things like, “I’m sorry the rhetoric during the immigration debate got so heated on our side”, “I will not allow millions of people who broke the law to benefit from it”, “I’m sorry I didn’t support the tax cuts the first time around and used class warfare to disparage them; it won’t happen again”, “I understand that people are upset by campaign finance laws and I certainly think perhaps it was a bit draconian and we could revisit it”, “I’m going to fire Juan Hernandez as soon as I f-ing get out of here, I promise”, “I’m sorry it took you guys calling so much for me to get a clue” are a few. He needed to admit responsibility and own up; he didn’t.

I’m just trying to point out that as bad as McCain is, Hillary and/or Obama would be far, far worse. McCain really doesn’t stand much of a chance against either one of them unless we all come back to reality and realize that voting for an obscure candidate that can’t possibly win or simply not voting will make the Dem a sure thing. We now know that we won;t be teaching the Reps a lesson — it sure didn’t work in ‘06. The only thing we can do is try to put the lesser of the evils in office and then concentrate on rebuilding the conservative movement and try to take back the House and Senate.
