Oh, and he has to prove that like Reagan, he is a good communicator. Pence thus far has not been unclear, but he hasn’t been heard as loudly as RR was prior to ’80. This is the same reason Allen should stay retired: He had horrible message control. If instead of going through five reactions over a course of weeks he had simply come out with how he saw his younger self reflected in the heckler (the word “macaca” was directed at Allen by his mother when he was a rambunctious child) but how Virginia needed even-tempered adults.

Keyes is much more conservative than any of the remaining candidates. What’s more he’s one of the few possibilities who was directly appointed by Reagan. If you want a hardline conservative you’d be mad not to go with Keyes. If you’re more interested in the GOP winning the election, you may as well go with McCain, whose record is certainly no worse than Mitt Con-mey’s. I’m still stunned that he voted for Tsongas.

Pretty much think that conservatives need to target and colonize a particular state and control the politics and establish their way of life. The Mormons and others did it and it worked pretty well for a long time.

Texas. No other state big enough to hold all of us. Texas has five distinct geographical regions, each beautiful. Lots of Lovely Women, Real Men, and Pride. Agriculture, water, oil, coastline, the Alamo – which can be revisited at any time, if you get my meaning. Plus we can still secede from the Union – legally! Maybe we can annex Tennessee!

Serious sugesstion: Take a look at all our republican governers. For the next 2 years, go through a process where one has a majority support among Hot Air members. Finally, build a draft movement for them to run in 2012 or 16.

Seems to me a majority of HA members already like Mitt, and we know conservative talk show hosts do. So what is it? Is the religious right really that influential, and it’s the Mormon thing after all? Why don’t we have a grass roots effort now, for Mitt? Why has America zoned out to the amnesty that our grass roots effort killed just a few short months ago?

Incredibly frustrating.

How about my gov, Mitch Daniels? He’s been working on lowering property taxes (which will probably be offset by increased sales tax), leased our toll road to the Aussies (state is banking millions per day in interest), got Indiana on daylight savings time (finally) and has been active in recruiting companies and jobs to the state (Honda, Toyota, and Cummins are building new plants, a mail order pharmacy is expanding, etc). He did work in the Boooosh White House in the Office of Management and Budget.

Just a thought.
