Open thread: Cutting-edge format to showcase same old crappy questions

posted at 5:21 pm on February 2, 2008 by Allahpundit

6 p.m. ET: It’s MTV’s version of a YouTube debate, with Hillary, Huck, Obama, and young America’s favorite publisher of racist newsletters fielding kids’ queries to decide who shall be the hippest of them all. Maverick and Mitt, being neither liberal, funny, nor rEVOLutionary, evidently decided not to bother trying. You can watch the livestream here in case you have nothing better to do at dinnertime on a Saturday night and don’t mind sitting through the umpteenth iteration of Obama’s and Hillary’s health-care answers just to see if anyone gets an oddball question about what kind of underwear they have on or something.

Blowback

malan89 on February 2, 2008 at 6:41 PM

MOVIE ALERT: Animal House is now playing on
American Movie Channel,AMC!

canopfor on February 2, 2008 at 6:08 PM

Man I missed it. Looks like “The In-Laws” is playing now. I’m watching that great Eddie Murphy hit from the 80s “Trading Places” on Cinemax HD. Sure, I was only like 2 years old when it came out, but it is a good movie.

drdroo on February 2, 2008 at 6:42 PM

That’s so insane – shot of the Paulnuts outside cheering!

mksmithwriter on February 2, 2008 at 6:42 PM

Hemp is like a miracle,

No doubt about it, you really are a Paul supporter.

malan89 on February 2, 2008 at 6:42 PM

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!

We should strengthen our National Defense!!!!!!!!!!!????????

Knock me over with a fart!!!!

What about Iraq?

@ malan89 on February 2, 2008 at 6:42 PM

I thought I said that already. I AM a Ron Paul supporter, and I will be voting for him. Find me a better conservative that is running and Ill be glad to take a look.

muyoso on February 2, 2008 at 6:43 PM

@ Mcguyver on February 2, 2008 at 6:43 PM

He means the borders. You know, stop illegal immigration. Apparently that isnt a part of national defense to the other republicans running.

muyoso on February 2, 2008 at 6:44 PM

I know you said it. I’ve seen you defending Paul in other threads too. I’m glad he has SOME civil supporters.
On another note, I think we have two totally different definitions of conservatism.

malan89 on February 2, 2008 at 6:45 PM

Senator Barack “Dime Bag Barry” Obama supports doubling the troops in Afghanistan and doing business with the good people of that fine nation.

malan89 on February 2, 2008 at 6:34 PM

Hey, Obama – aren’t you supposed to be at a rally or something!

That was funny – sounds just like him!

mksmithwriter on February 2, 2008 at 6:46 PM

@ malan89 on February 2, 2008 at 6:45 PM

I am sure we dont. The only thing we will likely disagree on is Iraq. Fine me a conservative who is:

Anti Gun Control
Anti illegal Immigration
Economically inclined
Smaller government supporter
wants to reduce taxes
Doesnt want universal health care

Oh yea, the ONLY conservative that is running on those positions is Ron Paul.

muyoso on February 2, 2008 at 6:48 PM

muyoso,
And Afghanistan? Osama Bin Laden?

Mcguyver on February 2, 2008 at 6:48 PM

I thought I said that already. I AM a Ron Paul supporter, and I will be voting for him. Find me a BETTER CONSERVATIVE that is running and Ill be glad to take a look.

muyoso on February 2, 2008 at 6:43 PM

ROFLMMFAO!!!!!!!

Please, I want a sane conservative, okay?

mksmithwriter on February 2, 2008 at 6:48 PM

Last time I listened to my kids….

More collective mumbo-jumbo.

mksmithwriter on February 2, 2008 at 7:00 PM

terryannonline on February 2, 2008 at 7:02 PM

Actually, it can broaden your horizons – and NORMALLY one’s appreciation of AMERICA! And perhaps a desire to spread the LIBERTY wealth!

But guys like Obama, they thing we all ought to suffer like everyone else, and live under governments that doles out the rights they think we can handle!

Or like Paulie, just keep it for our own selves – let the rest of the world be a gutter.

mksmithwriter on February 2, 2008 at 7:06 PM

“Bite at the Apple.”

Funny!!!

mksmithwriter on February 2, 2008 at 7:07 PM

Did Obama mention anything about his Kenyan cousin, Raila Odinga. I think he just lost the presidential race in Kenya. Not sure if it was because he wanted to institute Sharia law there. That once prosperous country is one of the next to fall in Africa.

JiangxiDad on February 2, 2008 at 7:12 PM

just keep it for our own selves – let the rest of the world be a gutter

So you have a problem with domestic welfare, but you mock Paul for opposing global welfare. Care to explain the reasons for your inconsistency?

Mark Jaquith on February 2, 2008 at 7:12 PM

HERE COMES HILLARY. I cannot wait to hear her lies.

muyoso on February 2, 2008 at 7:14 PM

Ouch – those Obama numbers – for real????

mksmithwriter on February 2, 2008 at 7:16 PM

Wow, not an Obama lovefest I guess.

OMG, this chick getting interviews is a freaking dope.

muyoso on February 2, 2008 at 7:24 PM

The Paulbots are out in force at MySpace during this event. They are skewing every poll for Ron Paul to be overwhelmingly in support of everything he talked about and doing the same against the other candidates who are participating.

olympian2008 on February 2, 2008 at 7:25 PM

Do you admire Sen. Clinton’s personality?

65% NO, she is Slimey

Got my wine ready.

Mcguyver on February 2, 2008 at 7:37 PM

Hillary says she’s been going up against Republicans for sixteen years. I just got done counting on my fingers and toes, and that includes the time she was the First Lady.

Hey, that’s not an elected office. So… does this mean we should call her Billary???

I’m just sayin’…

manwithblackhat on February 2, 2008 at 7:39 PM

@ Mcguyver on February 2, 2008 at 7:37 PM

There wont be cackling in this format. She needs people to be clapping or cheering for her to get up to the cackling level which she loves.

muyoso on February 2, 2008 at 7:39 PM

Crap. I had a phone call after Obama got off – what’d I miss!?!?!

mksmithwriter on February 2, 2008 at 7:43 PM

Jesus, she is getting SLAMMED with questions here. Calling out her Iraq vote now.

muyoso on February 2, 2008 at 7:43 PM

Hillary cackles when she’s proud of herself too. I don’t know how proud one can be whoring themselves on MTV of all places.

drdroo on February 2, 2008 at 7:44 PM

What do people see in this crazy woman! She’s a more obvious liar than Bill!!!

mksmithwriter on February 2, 2008 at 7:45 PM

“Well positioned.”

Oh god, everything is coming across as sexual innuendo now – gack!

mksmithwriter on February 2, 2008 at 7:46 PM

mksmithwriter on February 2, 2008 at 7:45 PM

drdroo on February 2, 2008 at 7:47 PM

@ mksmithwriter on February 2, 2008 at 7:49 PM

Yea, pointed out that the entire audience thought she was a big fat liar. She brushed it off and rambled on about something totally unrelated. You know, the usual.

muyoso on February 2, 2008 at 7:54 PM

Well, that was an absolute waste of two hours I’ll never get back!

mksmithwriter on February 2, 2008 at 7:54 PM

I’m glad they didn’t do the “Vote or Die!” BS like the 2004 election. I didn’t like being threatened with death by P.Diddy.

BlackCapitalist on February 2, 2008 at 7:54 PM

Isn’t that, like, a Muslim position?

Just curious.

oldleprechaun on February 2, 2008 at 7:58 PM

I missed the Huckabee and Paul segments. But the cool thing about Ron Paul is I know exactly what his response will be before he answers the question.
