Coulter: No, I’m not kidding about voting for Hillary over McCain

“He has no honor.” Quote:

In March 1968, McCain was put into solitary confinement, where he would be for two years. In July 1968, McCain’s father was named Commander-in-Chief, Pacific Command (CINCPAC), stationed in Honolulu and commander of all U.S. forces in the Vietnam theater. McCain was immediately offered a chance to return home early: the North Vietnamese wanted a mercy-showing propaganda coup for the outside world, and a message that only privilege mattered that they could use against the other POWs. McCain turned down the offer of repatriation due to the Code of Conduct of “first in, first out”: he would only accept the offer if every man taken in before him was released as well. McCain’s refusal to be released was even remarked upon by North Vietnamese officials to U.S. envoy Averell Harriman at the ongoing Paris Peace Talks.

And so it’s McCain, not Huckabee, who precipitates the long-awaited conservative crack-up. Man, did Patrick Ruffini pick the wrong year for this project.

Update: AC evidently prefers “a Presidency that would get rolled quicker than you can say Jimmy Carter.”

Update: McCain Derangement Syndrome?

The way I figure it is that the Democrats have finally figured out how to win back the Presidency. They backed McCain to run as the Republican, CNN says that he’s the only tolerable Republican about 10 times a day, liberal papers all over have endorsed him and they know there are a lot of Republicans who will vote for anyone with an R after his / her name to keep a Clinton out of the WH.

McCain has a Marine son in Iraq..
Why hasn’t any of Mitt’s sons enlisted?

McCain didn’t use his sons service in Iraq at the debate, would Mitt have used his sons service to help him in the polls?

similarly to how mitt used a fake memory of his father marching with Martin Luther King jr. to get him out of a difficult situation?

Chakra Hammer on February 2, 2008 at 5:57 PM

What everyone seems so eager to forget is,before his illustrious career as everyone’s favorite Democrat Republican, he caved. He’s as courageous as you’d like, as smart as you’d like, as great a soldier as you’d like, but he caved. Maybe had a bout of courage at some point - I don’t know. I do know that, by his own admission, he cracked; “every man has his breaking point.”

If we’re so keen to play up his military activities (which is weak - go on his political career), play up the whole picture. And, by the way, military service deserves tremendous respect, perhaps the highest,, but it isn’t permanently reserved as impeccable. John Kerry was in Vietnam, too; people still think he’s a sleazeball. There were a lot of POWs, many of whom were just as brave as McCain and many of whom didn’t cave. McCain, as a soldier, is a hero, but he’s no war hero.

There is something about Romney though. None of his fellow candidates seem to like him, and today we find out that most of the Republican governors don’t like him as well. What is it about the man?

You’re right. Principled Ol’ Hickory refused to use his son’s service in the debate, to boost his ratings.

But don’t fault McCain for that - he was too busy using his own.

P.S. There are several eyewitness reports that Romney’s father did, actually, march with MLK. Unfortunately, Romney can’t go back and say “told ya so!”

I forgot to put:

McCain must really want his sons’ service to be low-key. It’s sure a good thing that absolutely no one is talking about it. Do you really think this is the work of “maverick” journalists? If we believe (as I do) McCain is the media’s man in (R)-land, who’s to say this isn’t planned?

Mitt never “saw” it.. do we want to redefine words?

Do we have pictures? Cameras were around back then.

What does “is” really mean?

Chakra Hammer on February 2, 2008 at 6:06 PM

Ann goes to extremes to get her points across. Sometimes you need to do that and she is *very* good at doing that. I love Ann Coulter!

Her point, obviously, is that McCain is a far left loon masquerading as a Conservative, Republican. If you have to get loud and crazy to get people to hear that, then so be it!

I’m angry too! I don’t know why conservatives are voting for John McCharlatan! WTH?????? Do they know anything at all about this man?

As I said before, I feel like I’m stuck in some nightmare that I can not wake up from!

Chaotic Ramblings on February 2, 2008 at 6:07 PM

We have “several eyewitness reports” that Elvis is still alive, and we even had a Presidential candidate that witnessed seeing a UFO..

Chakra Hammer on February 2, 2008 at 6:09 PM

Chakra Hammer on February 2, 2008 at 6:09 PM

This from the defender of the candidate who ran an ad about a VietCong soldier who, on Christmas, drew a cross in the sand as a sign of Christian solidarity, which conveniently can’t be verified. All we’ve got is “eyewitness” reports.

I don’t have pictures (darn marchers, so busy being concerned over the treatment of blacks that they forgot to make a yearbook!), but politco is running the story - and they aren’t running Elvis sightings. So maybe Romney wasn’t there - the son, I mean - but it still happened. Is it pointless? Is it pandering? There’s a case for it. I personally was not swayed by his father’s marching, one way or another.

But it’s a lot better than, “I was tied up at the time.”

emailnuevo on February 2, 2008 at 6:32 PM

P.S.:

As for “redefining words,” when it’s arguing for McCain as a “conservative” - I think yours is the greater sin.

emailnuevo on February 2, 2008 at 6:37 PM

McCain’s service does not grant him absolute moral authority anymore than it does Cindy Sheehan.
An ugly truth that must be observed is that this is a what-have-you-done-lately world. We know what McCain has done lately, and it ain’t pretty. I’m sorry, but the smirk on his face during that last debate should illuminate what kind of man McCain is if you have been following the man’s machinations even in a leisurely way.
Yes, honor McCain for his service but don’t issue him a pass. Just because he’s the next in line doesn’t mean that he’s the best candidate or a conservative. We KNOW the man lies and that he won’t even admit it when he is caught in it. What kind of man is that?

I generally don’t put any stock in what these buffoons say in the debates.

What have they DONE? Who gives a crap what they SAY?

What has McCain done for right wingers to want him to be president? Serving in the military isn’t enough. Every male in my family has served in the military and believe me, I don’t think any of them would have gotten my vote for President.

I won’t vote Dem but I also won’t vote for a Dem masquerading as a conservative. I’ll write somebody in if I have to or vote Libertarian.

I hold my own grudges against McCain for ruining the stellar conservative GOP legacy from Carl Hayden and Barry Goldwater in Arizona.

But if a criticism goes beyond reason and denies what good in life that McCain achieved prior to his Senatorial terms in office representing Arizona, that is wrong. Draw the line in delivery of criticism where facts substantiate without going into the excessively destructive realm of lies and contortions. If delivering an opinion, do not state it catagorically as a fact when really it is only gossip that everyone knows, as though that is substantiation by record–NOT true.

maverick muse on February 2, 2008 at 7:41 PM

Does anybody know what is going on in the republican
party? I have yet to see a debate. Yes I watched all the stuff broadcast that are called debates. Every d*** one is
lead by some idiot who does not care about policy or stance on the major issues facing the u.s.today.

What people really want to know is how the the people runing for office stand.

WHY NOT1! WHY NOT! WHY NOT! WHY NOT!

Just ask them?

Debate forum: Give every candidate a question about his/her
stance on the major issues. Ask every one the SAME question. there are only three questions.

National security.
The economy.
Social issues.

National security?
Milatary strength?
Intellagence agencies?
Anti terroist commentment?
Border security north and south and coastline?
Energy independence?

Economy?
Taxes? Capital gains? Death tax? Company tax? Interest dividend taxes. Excessive excise tax?
Job stimulation?
Medical care? Who are the 40 million uninsured people?

Social issues?
Right to life?
Gun control?
Election finance reform?
Court appointees?

Please do not tell why. Tell me HOW you as a possible president can help solve these problems.

TomLawler on February 2, 2008 at 7:43 PM

How about voting to Confirm Robert and Alito?

How about an 83% lifetime ACU rating?

My 83% friend is not my 100% enemy..

Not to mention while he was “tied up in Vietnam”, Mitt was in France.

Chakra Hammer on February 2, 2008 at 8:08 PM

bnelson44 - Why don’t any of his fellow Governors like him? Very simple. Mitt has principles - therefore he’s a dangerous man - to them!

Positively 4th Street on February 2, 2008 at 9:08 PM

My 83% friend is not my 100% enemy..

Your 83% friend is about low-to-mid-50’s in the last several years, flirted with becoming a democrat twice in the last several years, votes against domestic oil exploration, wants to grant amnesty to millions of lawbreakers, voted against tax cuts in the last several years (the only ‘R’ to do so both times, I think) using dem “for the rich” rhetoric, wants to increase regulation in the name of human-caused global warming, yadda yadda.

There’s nothing in there that wouldn’t also be on the voting record of any of the “D” candidates - except for the defecting to the other side, part. None of the dems would actually consider switching to the reps, I’m pretty sure; they wouldn’t feel at home.

How odd that the republicans are about to nominate someone who would feel comfortable (based upon even considering switching) on the other side.

Al Qaeda can’t destroy America. They can only launch terrorist attacks that we will always overcome.

Oh. That is tremendously reassuring. I hope that, after you help get Hillary or Obama elected, and they treat the next terrorist attack as a “public safety” issue, the “public safety” issue happens to your town, not mine. Not wishing you harm, but since you have confidence that we can overcome an attack, it would be better that way.

For my part, I will vote for the candidate that intends to fight Al Qaeda tooth and nail.

Priscilla on February 2, 2008 at 9:22 PM

Chakra, yeah, he did good to vote YEA on confirming Alito and Roberts. So did every other Republican except for one NAY on Alito.

Who cares if Romney was in France? France is a fascinating place with a rich history. He was doing something he believed in. So what?

I think a more relevant question would be:

Where was Romney when McCain was working on Amnesty with that walking vodka sponge from Massachusetts?

Indeed. “All they can do is launch terrorist attacks which we will always overcome” strikes me as rather horrifying, almost pre-9/11, logic. I mean, my god, is that the trade-off some of you want? Future terror attacks are now acceptable, just so long as you don’t get McCain in the White House?

National security and the war on terror remain my number one issues. Of those who are left, McCain is the only one who’s remained steadfast on those issues - to his detriment in the past. And he’s the only one left who I have any sort of faith in to continue to do what’s necessary. I know that the two Democrats won’t do jack, seeing as they see it as little more than a “law enforcement matter”, and Romney has yet to convince me he’d be better than McCain on the issue.

I fail to see3 any relevance. America is a free country amd last I saw we had a volunteer military. Although the Left sees the military as the last bastion of the dregs and bottom dwellers of American society, actually it’s the cream of the crop. The military isn’t for everyone nor should it be.

Good call

My number one issue is preserving the union. We need citizens who believe ‘America First’. We need politicians who think America is a country, not a region

The war on terror is with people who want to erase America.

Forfeiting America to ‘win’ the war on terror is not a win

The senior scholar at McCain’s foundation says America is not a country, it is a region

Why would McCain be the better choice to protect America, when he is busy removing the nationhood, the borders, the language and the citzenry?

I think McCain is the useful idiot. Not quite the Manchurian candidate, his rage must be fed. That is a weakness, and a weakness may be exploited

Hillary on the other hand has to show she is as smart as Bill. Hey, I could tell her she is as smart, but I do not want to give her my vote to make her feel better

Obama. Who knows. He has to prove Farrakhan is ok I guess.

What a bunch of losers

entagor on February 4, 2008 at 11:57 PM

Nobody is dissing McCain over his military service. Let’s face it, he had it far tougher than most who ever served.

It is what he has done over the last two-plus decades that is deplorable.

John McCain is not going to beat Hillary or Obama. The MSM will destroy the man should he win the nomination.
