My number one issue is preserving the union. We need citizens who believe ‘America First’. We need politicians who think America is a country, not a region

I fail to see3 any relevance. America is a free country amd last I saw we had a volunteer military. Although the Left sees the military as the last bastion of the dregs and bottom dwellers of American society, actually it’s the cream of the crop. The military isn’t for everyone nor should it be.

Romney or McCain will get my vote regardless. I truly don’t like either of them but I am not about to let the wicked witch and her pack of flying monkeys decide what is “right” for me, my family, and my military.

Al Qaeda can’t destroy America. They can only launch terrorist attacks that we will always overcome.

Oh. That is tremendously reassuring. I hope that, after you help get Hillary or Obama elected, and they treat the next terrorist attack as a “public safety” issue, the “public safety” issue happens to your town, not mine. Not wishing you harm, but since you have confidence that we can overcome an attack, it would be better that way.

For my part, I will vote for the candidate that intends to fight Al Qaeda tooth and nail.

Indeed. “All they can do is launch terrorist attacks which we will always overcome” strikes me as rather horrifying, almost pre-9/11, logic. I mean, my god, is that the trade-off some of you want? Future terror attacks are now acceptable, just so long as you don’t get McCain in the White House?

National security and the war on terror remain my number one issues. Of those who are left, McCain is the only one who’s remained steadfast on those issues – to his detriment in the past. And he’s the only one left who I have any sort of faith in to continue to do what’s necessary. I know that the two Democrats won’t do jack, seeing as they see it as little more than a “law enforcement matter”, and Romney has yet to convince me he’d be better than McCain on the issue.

There are no guarantees of political reconciliation. The disaffected base could form the genesis of a new third party movement, waiting until perhaps the 2012 election, or 2016 in the case of eight more years of Republican Party rule, to stage a coup…..

Your 83% friend is about low-to-mid-50′s in the last several years, flirted with becoming a democrat twice in the last several years, votes against domestic oil exploration, wants to grant amnesty to millions of lawbreakers, voted against tax cuts in the last several years (the only ‘R’ to do so both times, I think) using dem “for the rich” rhetoric, wants to increase regulation in the name of human-caused global warming, yadda yadda.

There’s nothing in there that wouldn’t also be on the voting record of any of the “D” candidates – except for the defecting to the other side, part. None of the dems would actually consider switching to the reps, I’m pretty sure; they wouldn’t feel at home.

How odd that the republicans are about to nominate someone who would feel comfortable (based upon even considering switching) on the other side.

What has McCain done for right wingers to want him to be president? Serving in the military isn’t enough. Every male in my family has served in the military and believe me, I don’t think any of them would have gotten my vote for President.

I won’t vote Dem but I also won’t vote for a Dem masquerading as a conservative. I’ll write somebody in if I have to or vote Libertarian.
