Coulter: If McCain’s the nominee, I’ll campaign for Hillary

posted at 9:57 pm on January 31, 2008 by Allahpundit

The ne plus ultra of conservatives crapping away Iraq in a fit of spite at Maverick: “I think she would be stronger on the war on terrorism.” Madness.

Update: “The gulf between Hillary and McCain is Grand-Canyon like.”

So your answer is to vote for a RINO simply because he’s Republican.

Ever heard of incrementalism? That is what happens when you accept a little reliquishing of your principles for the sake of a party. You end up with a Moderate/Liberal representing your party.

I’ll stick with my Conservative principles thanks.

geckomon on January 31, 2008 at 11:31 PM

I take it that Coulter is trying her damnest to derail McCain with these absurdist exaggerations.

She was going over the top to make a point.

(And Hillary probably does have more ballz than McVain. We know she has Bill’s.)

But I wouldn’t vote for either of the Dems, since you can just write in Tancredo, first. Or Romney. Or yourself (if you’re 35 and up.)

Even if your candidate then loses, you haven’t aided in the destruction of the Republican party from within by shilling for a guy like Juan McShamnesty, who loathes its lower-taxes, free speech, keep-Gitmo-open core.

Or helped the socialistas come to their short grab at power (after 4 years of their follies a new Reagan-style figure might be possible in disgusted response).

But do vote for a conservative Congress.

Somebody has to hold the line against either liberal winner, if it comes down to McVain “versus” Obama/Hillary.

You’re talking about freaking amnesty, and amnesty alone! Get the blame for campaign finance?! Yeah everyone in the normal world gives a flying freak about maxing out at $2300, because we all have that kind of money lying around, and yeah definitely the Dems will be getting the blame for that in 4 years, whatever that blame might entail. As if ANY blame would be going around for that. And judges? Are you freaking serious? Who in their right mind thinks he’ll be appointing lib judges?

You have to be a plant. I don’t think anyone could be this ignorant.

No my answer is to never give a democrat a break even if I hate how my party is acting. And I am sticking to my conservative principles that tell me that losing elections to democrats NEVER makes conservative stronger. You think our military was mistreated under clinton just wait till our Iraqi vets are brough home and spit upon by the newly elected democratic President and their ilk

>>>Seriously people, put a couple of facts together, the dem base is revved up for this election and highly motivated to vote. People are sick and tired of Washington being corrupt and unresponsive to them. If they run Obama, could you see the young, smooth talking Obama standing on a debate stage next to the old man who has spent so many years in the senate, he is the definition of the problem, who would be the oldest presidents ever sworn in? Future, meet past. Can you really be obtuse enough to believe that will work?

Make sure you realize that Obama is THE MOST LIBERAL SENATOR IN THE US.

That’s going to be the gameplan in the general. If you still think McCain is worse than THE MOST LIBERAL SENATOR IN AMERICA, then by all means sit it out.

I still think he looks better than both put together. And Romney better than that.

Despite his obvious flaws.

Good Lt on January 31, 2008 at 11:35 PM

There is no way Mitt can get back in this thing. After super duper teusday there is only one winner take all state of size being Virginia. Everything else is chopped due to respective vote totals. Not to mention the super bowl buzz beginning Saturday afternoon and Mav’s free press will put this away. Conservative talk radio Friday and Monday ought to be a true circus. The end of an era.

THE CHOSEN ONE on January 31, 2008 at 11:35 PM

Vizzini on January 31, 2008 at 11:36 PM

If we didn’t have several 70+ judges sitting on the SCOTUS then I would probably stay home. As it is McCain would appoint much better ones then Hillary/Obama.

DavidM on January 31, 2008 at 11:37 PM

I really think that John McCain is easily suckered by his enemies.

Perhaps its his age…perhaps it’s lack of convictions. But if it is so easy for his Liberal enemies to roll McCain, can he be trusted to defend us from foreign enemies with guns?? Can he even recognize enemies and distinguish them from friends?

His “shamnesty” initiative shows that, as a military man, he never learned the lessons of the disastrous Maginot Line built by the French, which was a good defense in one direction only…but it could be easily flanked. Presenting a strong forward line in Iraq and Afghanistan while failing to secure our own borders is repeating the Maginot Line blunder.

So while McCain was a good soldier at one time, I do not believe he has either the qualifications or the temperament to be a Commander in Chief.

Look McCain is old I look at his presidency as being the same as Gerald Ford. He is a caretaker for 4 years then we dump him and move on. McCain is enough of a politician to take that deal just to have his time in the Big seat.

William Amos on January 31, 2008 at 11:38 PM

Weebork on January 31, 2008 at 11:27 PM

One problem with the debate was that when he was trying to explain why McCain was a liar he kept getting interrupted by Anderson Cooper which threw him off a bit. I thought Mitt won but it didn’t have the appeal of tonight’s interview.

Tonight he sailed through that interview, he was a gentleman as always, but did a great job of pointing out the differences. He was able to focus entirely on that issue and not be distracted by anything else, and he was funny too.

Not wisecracky funny, but still funny.

OT, Let me quietly correct a spelling error: [byline]

Buy Danish on January 31, 2008 at 11:39 PM

McLiberal wants an enormous government. The bigger, the better. During the debate, he would not give a direct answer to the question of “Would he signed his own amnesty bill?” Stated he couldn’t answer the question because the bill would never reach his desk. Ha Ha

There will be a bill. O want a candidate that will veto the eventual bill that does make its way to the oval office. Then McAmnesty will not hesitate to pull out his $1000.00 pen paid for by the taxpayers and sign that bill to further fleece the working families in America so the aliens breaking our laws will be rewarded with our money.

PrettyD_Vicious on January 31, 2008 at 11:56 PM

And you can tell that Mitt Romney and John McCain hold each other in personally low regard.

The other candidates share McCain’s view of Romney. Mike Huckabee clearly can’t stand him. Giuliani couldn’t endorse McCain fast enough. Thompson seemed to relish taking votes away from him in South Carolina.

Romney has been the attack dog in this pack. He launched tough ads against each one of the opponents when they were the leaders. He slashed at Giuliani when he looked like he was going to run away with it. He lunged at Huckabee in Iowa. He tried to destroy McCain in New Hampshire and Michigan. He smacked Thompson in South Carolina. But his instinct to go first for the jugular has enraged his fellow competitors. And now they want payback

Not a chance. It’s unfortunate how many have forgotten what happened to George Allen. It was 24/7 on any news medium you could turn to about macaca…until he was forced out.

He was forced out BECAUSE he was considered a serious candidate for President in this election. I recall reading news about the left actually trying to do just that during his campaign because he would be a contender.

…and his RINO colleagues let him twist in the wind.

With McCain, it will be death by a thousand broadcasts. Every other week the drive-bys can switch to a different issue.

Sure other RINO’s like Grahmnesty will support him and campaign for him, but how many other Republicans in Congress will do so?

His temper has made him a lot of enemies over the years amongst his colleagues…more than a few might relish seeing him gutted by his former buddies in the media.

tickleddragon on February 1, 2008 at 12:13 AM

Really: I’m getting sick of that 82% ACU rating being touted as something good. There are some Democrats that are close to that.

Most of the Senators that we conservatives consider to be good to mediocre are in the mid to high 90s, and quite a few are rated 100%.

Of the currently sitting Senators there are 38 who have higher lifetime ratings, and 45 who have higher 2006 ratings. McCain’ is only 65% in 2006…. And that was before his Kennedy-McShamnesty and McShamnesty- Lieberman bills hit the table. And that is just in the Senate. If you include the House, there ARE several Democrats with higher ACU ratings.

I wish I could find a link to the ACU rating archives, which are even more illuminating, but here is the link to the current ones:

http://www.acuratings.org/2006senate.htm

McCain would be below some Senatorial democrats if he hadn’t actually been a pretty strong conservative 15 - 20 years ago. He has gone down hill Leftward pretty badly, especially when the MSM started pimping for him… Although I’m not sure if that was cause or effect.

I’m ‘dating’ myself, but back when I went to school, anything below 70% was failing. McCain has flunked out of being a conservative, just like he nearly flunked out of the USNA…. And likely would have been kicked out for grades AND disciplinary problems if it weren’t for who his father & grandfather were in the Naval Hierarchy.

So you guys touting his ACU rating better hope that people are too lazy to actually check to see what that really means. Fortunately for you, and unfortunately for the Nation, most people will remain ignorant.

LegendHasIt on February 1, 2008 at 12:16 AM

They want you to sit it out. They want you to give up in despair. Are you going to give them the satisfaction?

Good Lt on January 31, 2008 at 11:22 PM

This has been the point for many weeks now. The problem here is not informed people being turned off by the media and their tripe, it’s the stupid moderates who make up their minds three minutes before they vote that is the concern.

Most candidates know they must have their base sewn up, yet play to enough moderates to win. McCain doesn’t have the base, and the drive-bys will guarantee he doesn’t get the muddle headed moderates.

I’m a conservative before Republican. The Republican party deserted me with McCain.

If we didn’t have several 70+ judges sitting on the SCOTUS then I would probably stay home. As it is McCain would appoint much better ones then Hillary/Obama.

Yeah, they might be to the right of Ginsburg, but they would still likely be to the left of Stevens.

…all in the name of reaching across the isle you know.

You need to remember how hard a time Bush had with that Horses @$$ Specter, and McCains Gang. I doubt McCain would put forth much effort.

McCain is a crotchety old fart with zero integrity.

After cheating on his first wife Carol,he dumped her (she raised their 3 children and fought for his release from ‘Nam, and was injured in a car crash while he was a POW) and married a rich trophy wife Cindy (rich from family liquor distribution monopoly in AZ and Keating 5 Scandal) and John used her riches to run for office.

So this man is scum in my eyes.

McCain and Rudy were great on Leno!

McCain WILL be the Nominee..

Time to start thinking about the general.

Chakra Hammer on February 1, 2008 at 12:32 AM

>>>I suspect many would think McCain is a huge clot in that “bad blood” you mentioned that needs cleaning out.

Fair enough, but is a Democrat tyranny better?

Good Lt on January 31, 2008 at 11:39 PM

No. Which is why there is still time if people honestly examine records.

As an officer, I’m sure you know of the concept of needing trust not only in your subordinates, but in your commanders as well. McCain, with his record, just does not give me that trust.

We will know by Wed.

There will be a lot of McCain endorsements this weekend.

I would expect McCain to start reaching out to conservatives after Super Tuesday when he has won the liberal states of CA, NY and IL.

GOP: Stronger or Broader? - Debra Saunders, San Francisco Chronicle

The press love him because he’s a “maverick”, yet the press never say the same about a Democrat who is a “maverick” against other Democrats. There is no such thing for Democrats.

Who spoke in prime-time at the 2004 Republican convention?

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Rudy Giuliani, John McCain and Zell Miller.

There was a reason why Karl Rove chose those men.

bnelson44 on February 1, 2008 at 12:45 AM

The next Pres. will not have carte blanch to bring home the troops from Iraq.
The next Pres. will have carte blanch to amnesty any millions of foreign invaders that will create an illegal alien mega vacuum.

Hillary, Obama and McCain are all destructive and the last thing we need is any kind harm.

Ann is right, McCain is no better choice than Hillary.

Never thought I’d see that day.

Yes, because he wanted to WIN!

And IF we want to win, we need someone that can compete across the country and in more than just 18 states this time.
