The ne plus ultra of conservatives crapping away Iraq in a fit of spite at Maverick: “I think she would be stronger on the war on terrorism.” Madness.

Update: “The gulf between Hillary and McCain is Grand-Canyon like.”

Fine. Then I don’t want to hear any whining from Coulter when HRC pulls out the troops, closes Gitmo, passes ever more liberal abortion laws, appointts leftist judges, spies on her enemies, and give amnesty to 15 million illegal aliens. You vote for her then you get what you ask for. Go for it Ann. Vote how you feel. But afterward, shut your pie hole.

I know Hot Air, like the Corner, loves to dump on McCain 24/7. I disagree with the man on illegals too. But only a deluded fool thinks HRC would be a better president, by any stretch of the imagination. If you vote for HRC then you’ll have no one but yourself to blame when the sh!t hits the fan.

Who do you want in office when the Iranians test the Bomb? When the Pakistan collapses? When Justice Stevens resigns?

Don’t cut off your nose to spite your face.

Vote Sauron 08 on January 31, 2008 at 10:24 PM

Yeah see there’s the rub. McCain is not who I want in office either. I don’t trust John McCain. I do respect his service in the military, his record since then has been a travesty. He’s about as conservative as Kennedy, or perhaps Biden. Yet, we’re supposed to jump on his bandwagon because he’s “electable” and that’s all we need to know.

PFUI. I don’t like my enemies picking my champion, and in this case, it’s not Republicans picking McCain. It’s Liberals and Moderates, which is defined as a Liberal half the time. Now, let me ask you Sauron, what are you going to do when McCain appoints Liberal Judges, passes even more liberal abortion laws, and gives amnesty to fifteen million illegal aliens? I expect Clinton to do that, she’s a Liberal Democrat. I don’t expect a Republican to do that, unless he’s not a conservative. McCain isn’t a Conservative, he’s a RINO, and we should all hope that it’s Democrats doing those things, because we’re supposed to oppose those ideals, not promote them. McCain pushes them constantly.

We may have a big tent in the Republican Party, and have room for everyone. However, I think we’re all supposed to agree that tax cuts are good, amnesty for illegals is bad. I think if we feel the other way, that we’re actually Democrats. McCain’s on the wrong side of the isle for me. I’d rather lose and blame Hillary for screwing things up than bang my head on the table because we have another LIBERAL Republican in office.

Snake307 on January 31, 2008 at 10:36 PM

Good idea! I would vote 3rd party if it was a good candidate. Ron Paul looks good compared to McCain. I can’t believe I am saying that!

Following your line of reasoning makes McCain a pure political opportunist and at the core a diet-military dictator. Lock down free speech (McCain Feingold) take rights from parents (McCain Kennedy) Open the floodgates and promote the expansion of a 3rd Class citizenry (McCain Amnesty). Mitt has come clean about his past mistakes..and as ann says John is too wrapped up in his own goals to see his follies…purely selfish.

ColdBore76 on January 31, 2008 at 10:38 PM

Though,, Hillary did not accomplish much while co president. I think her being president could help the Republicans take back the house in two years. That could shorten her term. I really do not look at her as a two term president.

I sure dont want to be part of the maliase that will take over this country with Mcliar and his party, which is the current majority in the congress, will do to this country.

Border security - namely Shamnesty. He’s for it. I’m against it and he calls us “nativists” for not supporting it.

Campaign Finance Reform - namely the First Amendment. He created the bill. It was a distaster.

Closing Gitmo - offering civil trials for war combatants and wanting to close Gitmo.

Nuclear option - “Gang of 14″ keeping the Nuclear Option from being used to stop endless filibustering. There should always be an up or down vote on nominees for the court.

Tax Cuts…he was against. I’m for.

Global Warming…He’s a convert. I think it’s bullsh!t. This will have economic effects - bad ones.

reliapundit on January 31, 2008 at 10:46 PM

Can McCain get rid of his conservative VP after the election??
I just don’t trust this guy in the least.
Should McCain get this nomination, I expect he would choose a VP that seems or is conservative. Then, I would expect that same VP to put forth his resignation at some point within the first year or two due to an undisclosed illness or some other excuse or be pressured to resign due to a scandal.
He is not going to allow some conservative to come in after him and “fix” what he has worked so hard to destroy!

McCain is not trustworthy. He has shown he will ACTIVELY AND PASSIONATELY work against conservative causes.
McCain is not just a liberal or just a RINO. He is a CRUSADER for liberal issues and displays a hatred and contempt for conservatives and Christians.
I predict that, should McCain become president, re-enacting the so called Fairness Doctrine will become one of his top priorities! He will pursue it with glee and the RINO’s and Dems in congress will unite with him to put an end to all the “divisiveness and hate” on talk radio and the internet!
He knows from experience now the need to silence the critics! Once that is accomplished, it’ll be much easier to open the borders, increase taxes, attack the church, education and property rights, appoint liberal judges and on and on.

If McCain is the Republican nominee then I’d rather a dhimmicrat win in 2008 and thus give the Republicans two things:

1. A wake up call (We’ve needed it since our loss in 2006 when our senators and representatives failed us miserably)

and,

2. A chance to run a real conservative candidate (and I suspect after 4 years of Shrillary or the Empty Suit the country will be ready for one)

And….

American Conservative Union lifetime ratings (acuratings.org):
McCain–82.3

…pardon my ignorance but are those weighted scores? As in, lose 100 pts for voting FOR shamnest and AGAINST tax cuts? Because if you can have McCains stance on such critical issues and still have a B score in conservatism, then buddy, you’ve been graded on a major curve.

Man, you guys just don’t get it. By having Billary or Obama in the White House, the conservatives - and independents - will have to come together to take our government back!

Live free or die hard…mo$%#$fu4#$%$#!

mksmithwriter on January 31, 2008 at 10:51 PM

I’m not happy with McCain and would prefer Romney, but McCain will be to the right of both Hillary and Obama on most issues and to their left on none. He might actually reduce government spending, and his rhetoric has been consistent on this front for years. He will prosecute the war on terror and was stalwart in the defense of the surge when most considered it futile. His record and rhetoric on taxes is troubling to say the least, but he will at least be surrounded by supply-side and fiscon advisors unlike the socialists advising Obama or Hillary. I doubt McCain will fight to extend the Bush tax cuts with much vigor, but Hillary and Obama will raise taxes far beyond that. McCain wasn’t my first choice, second choice, and he isn’t my third choice, but if he wins the nomination he will have my support.

We’re already assured of that now. Neither McCain or Hillary will be better on that front.

I would submit there is no difference between Hillary and McCain.

-Both acquiesced in the 90’s when our military was being gutted.

-Both will stake out positions opposed by their party when necessary.
-Both will change those opinions and claim otherwise when necessary.

-Both are grasping politicians.

-Both are extremely temperamental and default to personal attacks when questioned on issues.

-Both would refuse water boarding, even if lives were at stake.

-Both would nuance immigration reform and de facto grant amnesty.

-Both are uniformed on economic issues and solutions.

-Both opposed tax cutson the basis it favors the rich

-Both condemn others when challenged on the stump.

-Both would weaken the CIA.

-Both would bluster but ultimately appease a military confrontation

-Both always point fingers for blame.

-Both opposed conservative judges.

-Both support Global Warming

It’s quite entertaining to watch/read the ensuing fireworks.

As to the validity of Miss Coulter’s position, I’m not sure and I think she needs to make a more substantive case for why voting for Sen Clinton is better than voting for Sen McCain for the country.

She has plenty of time to maker her case, the election is in November. Plenty of time.

I gather this is an old story which for some reason is now on the front page of Drudge and the current issue of The Hill. I knew of the rumors but I never knew the amazing details which cannot be good for Johnny Mac. His motivation was bitterness towards Bush which speaks to his vindictive streak.

P.S. Romney was great tonight in his interview with Sean Hannity. Really on message, hammering out the differences between him and the Maverick.

Once you realize the trick, it’s just entertaining at what length they will go to get your attention and get some sort of response. They do get weirder the more you ignore them.

Weebork on January 31, 2008 at 11:20 PM

I want to see all McCain supporters when he gets the nod, and the press turns on his, his polls shrink up like he just stepped out of a cold ocean, and the left is standing there LAUGHING THEIR ASSES OFF at you dupes who stuck us with a man who can’t win.

Seriously people, put a couple of facts together, the dem base is revved up for this election and highly motivated to vote. People are sick and tired of Washington being corrupt and unresponsive to them. If they run Obama, could you see the young, smooth talking Obama standing on a debate stage next to the old man who has spent so many years in the senate, he is the definition of the problem, who would be the oldest presidents ever sworn in? Future, meet past. Can you really be obtuse enough to believe that will work?

Was Fred Thompson the “Consistent Conservative” wrong to go after Romney’s Mandated $50 abortion HealthCare plan?

Chakra Hammer on January 31, 2008 at 11:16 PM

I’m not an evangelical–saying “Romney likes abortion” won’t make me jump for McCain.

Shouldn’t you be under a bridge harassing billy goats?

Enoxo on January 31, 2008 at 11:21 PM

Why ignore the truth…

Chakra Hammer on January 31, 2008 at 11:17 PM

Dang, I DO love ignore.

I don’t know, pigs must be flying.

Ann Coulter campaigning for Hillary.

Rush Limbaugh attending an event in NY last night with Cindy Adams on his arm.

Rush Limbaugh attending an event in NY last night Cindy Adams on his arm and spooning and squeezing Joy Behar at said event.

Regis and The View talking about it today.

Crazy, what’s happening. I think the Ronulins have put something in the water.

>>>Don’t you pro-McVain folks realize that you’re AGREEING with the MSM on a candidate? Doesn’t that seem a little strange to you as Righties?

They’ll be throwing him under the bus after the primaries because THEY WANT DEMOCRATS BACK IN THE WHITE HOUSE. They like McCain because he’s the most moderate GOP member they’re going to get. But he’s still a Republican, and that means he’s a target when up against a Democrat.

Just wait until the general cycle starts and see how the coverage changes.

They want you to sit it out. They want you to give up in despair. Are you going to give them the satisfaction?

I’d rather the D win because THEY will get the blame, and we’ll be able to take it back in 4 years. How many times do I have to say that??

McCain will do too much of the same stupid crap Hill will.

He’s a lying sack of s*** and everyone who’s lived in Arizona longer than 6 months knows it. He’s the only candidate who could make Hillary and Obama look good.

tickleddragon on January 31, 2008 at 11:25 PM

To be honest this is baloney. I heard the same thing in 1992 when people hated Bush and said “well I vote for perot or sit out even 4 years of Bill Clinton wont be bad”

we got EIGHT years of clinton and damn near a Gore Presidency. Its one hell of a gamble because Barak/Hillary and the dems will so stack the elections that we will never be able to vote him out.

William Amos on January 31, 2008 at 11:27 PM

Buy Danish,

I listened to Gov Romney on H&C. Do you agree with me that Romney was more on fire tonight than he was during the debate?
I thought he was more alive and feisty during tonight than he was during the debate. Where was this energy?

Please stop addressing me. I’m done with your slow wit.

JustTruth,

Ignore him, he’s just here to get a rise out of people by bashing Romney with silly stuff.

At least I ignore him until he has something substantial to say.
