I’ve noticed that those who favor tax rate increases tend to justify that opinion based on an objection to the deficit and the increasing national debt. Well here’s the good news: it’s not necessary to wait for the federal government to force a tax hike on everyone; it’s possible to take a grass-roots approach. The deficit isn’t very large now, so it shouldn’t take much of a grass-roots movement to completely eliminate it. (As I said, I think my taxes are already high enough, but I’ll be keeping my eye on the numbers to see if this movement catches on.)

That line about rich liberals donating their tax cut to the IRS is essentially ripped right out of talk radio and the blogosphere. Not complaining, just pointing out that it’s not a Bush original.

Correct. However, it’s good that this line is now in the Congressional Record.

Basically saying, “Put up or shut up.”

Once you hit the top brackets its a wall and you have to earn a lot of money to make the same progress you did at lower brackets. This is clearly ANTI-middle class, yet the left still seems to think high upper brackets are a good thing!

Ignore reality! Vote democrat!

Guys like Warren Buffet don’t overpay precisely because they know the Government will waste their money. But it’s ok with him if I pay more, or if I’m legislated into paying more…..then it’s ok…

The tax cuts should be permanent but let’s do the job Congress refuses to do and call this what it is- The Congressional CYA act of 2008.

This “package” will do little to stimulate the economy in a meaningful way. All that it really does is give politicians cover going into an election year. Now they can claim that they “did something” about the economy by giving everybody a couple hundred bucks. That pandering includes “rebates” to people who don’t even pay taxes and eliminates those that pay the most taxes from getting any sort of break because (in “rat” terms) they are greedy bastards who don’t “deserve” a break. The Senate “rats” want to expand the pandering to include more free gummmit money for illegals, the jobless, and the uninsured.

Personally, I hope GWB vetoes the thing.

BTW I wonder what Nancy whispered to Cheney at the end of that clip. I’m surprised she even deigned to speak to such a lifeform.
