last night, I too was watching who stood and for what. that was the clearest prophecy of what is to come out of the senate. it was also fun to watch pelosi squirm through most of it. next time, fox should have an iso-cam on the two sides of the aisle. now that would be informative.

he was basically informing them he was going to fully exercise his abilities to block as much of the BS they’ve been slipping into legislation on its way out the door as possible.

He should have made that statement, on his wy IN the door. If he had been doing this all along, maybe, just maybe, we could have gotten much more done in 07. Not to mention that he has had 6 years with a Repub majority. I'm not say he has not accomplished a lot, I just think if he had approached 07 with this attitude...

Can someone please tell me what book Pelosi was reading when the State of the Union was being given?

Was she missing her book club or something? It was highly distracting.

And Cheney looked like he would have rather been having an enema than being there.

You could see the marks on the speech booklet Pelosi had. Presumably they go over it and decide when to stand, applaud, sit still, look annoyed.
It is essence the Dems playbook.
...and Cheney always looks that way, at a private fundraiser in Ca. (6 years ago), he would stand off to the side, and people would approach him, he would be very genuine and pleasant to talk to, then he would just back up. He is a very quite and unassuming man, but incredibly engaging when spoken to, and quick to laugh. He would be called a "wallflower" at a party, small talk just doesn't suit him, and not a huge presence...a good counter balance to GW who absolutely takes over the room.

I wonder, do the Dems get together before the SOTU speech and come up with their own version of drinking game? I don't know any other way they would all refuse to stand. Probably goes something like this:

tax cuts = sit and don't clap
support the troops = stand, clap, and yell
progress in iraq = clap mildly

The state of the union is strong and God bless America = Stand, clap, do cartwheels in the aisle because this is Bush's last SOTU.

Oh, wait. You meant "stand UP."

They could remain seated on their incumbent, fat, overpaid arses until the End Times as far as I'm concerned if they'd vote for it instead.

Talk is cheap. 8 years of Dubya taught me all about that.

Speaking of taxes, there is one thing I like about Huck (No, I’m on Mitt’s team) : He wants to shut down the IRS. As a fellow who lost his business, home, and everything else partly because of mistakes make by them, I think this is a great idea. The horror stories I could tell you. The organization is evil. IRS = KGB

In the replays at the end, you need to keep in the clip about tax relief for 116 MILLION Americans, because the Libs always want to the claim that the tax breaks are only "for their rich friends".

This little bit stuck out for me from the brief portion of the SOTU address last night that I actually watched. Bryan at HotAir highlights the contrast: I just couldn't help but actually feel the vibe coming through the TV......

Of course the Dumbs don't want tax relief to be permanent.

How would they pay for the nanny state programs? And the illegal alien aid? And aid to jihadist states?

Speaking of taxes, there is one thing I like about Huck (No, I'm on Mitt's team) : He wants to shut down the IRS. As a fellow who lost his business, home, and everything else partly because of mistakes make by them, I think this is a great idea. The horror stories I could tell you. The organization is evil. IRS = KGB

You know as a sore Rudymaniac, I am now beginning to empathize with Paul-crazies like yourself. We got disciminated by the media. Both are much better candidates that the MSM would let on.

That being said, the vagina-fixer’s fan base is WAAAAAY more crazy than Rudy’s fanbase. So I feel much better being in my pack than yours.

You don't know anything about me, so calling me crazy is irresponsible and stupid on your part. Fact is, I was a Fred supporter until October when I began supporting Ron Paul. Regardless, saying something positive about a candidate who has many positive aspects to his platform does not make that person crazy. Someone who says something like that is an idiot.

As far as feeling better in your pack, good for you. Personally I couldn't care less. I'd much rather be part of a base that people thought crazy than part of a base that people thought liberal, ignorant, or traitorous to the Republican Party. Please vote for the liberal candidate of your choice. Just remember, <strike>if</strike> when McCain screws up the country, the Republicans get credit and MY PACK won't be blamed.

Also note that McCain is irrelevant to the topic of this thread since he's not for tax relief.
