Oh, my goodness. How many times do I have to say I don’t hate Muslims? True Christians do not hate Mormons. It’s doctrinal, not personal. My word, look up the doctrinal differences please and respect them.

There are some people on HotAir who, if they had Joseph Smith or Osama in their sights and only one bullet, would shoot Joseph Smith and let Osama run free.

This is not a literal 1,000 years. Nor is it a literal reign.

This is the tricky thing about debating the book of Revelation; much of the book is figurative, but not all, and much of the language is hyperbolic, but not all.

Like I said, this isn’t the place to debate religion, as much as I enjoy it. Suffice to say I have grave reservations with the unorthodox views most Mormons hold.

But, I’d like to correct you on something. Jesus does rule on the earth for 1,000 years and it is spoken of clearly in the Bible. Where do you think Joseph Smith and the Mormons got this idea? MORMonISM is plagurized from The Holy Bible. Anyways, this thousand year reign is called The Millennium: Christ, having defeated the armies at Armageddon returns to institute a thousand-year reign on earth; there will be the peace on earth for one thousand years. The Lord will rule from Jerusalem.

“And they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: On such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. (Revelation 20:4-6)

The Second Coming of the Lord will mark the day when Jesus will rule and reign on earth for a millennium or one thousand years, bringing with Him true peace and harmony throughout the world.

Look, I have no problem with what you want to believe… believe whatever you want. And I think most Mormons are nice people. My problem is when Mormon’s start calling themselves Christians. That’s when there is a problem. If Mormon’s insist on saying they are Christian, then you must know that those who understand both Mormon and Christian doctrines are going to say, “hey, wait a second, there are very basic truths that these two religions believe in that are not shared by each other.” Christianity and Mormonism are mutually exclusive terms. Thanks.

apacalyps, to be honest, Huckabee make me nervous. He does seem to be too much of a populist–for my taste. But he’s always been dead-on as to his positions on abortion (baby killing) and gay marriage (tearing down God’s first established institution). That’s what I like about him.

McCain is leading the national polls… doesn’t that tell you something about the state of the union?

I will give you this. You are much more civil than most of the others who criticize Huck. I will give you that. I don’t mind debating with you. But, I think that’s because you are much more clever than the others. The others just see red and attack like loose rabie-filled pit bulls. You’re much more calculated.

You see, I disagree with the premise for your rant. Huckabee is a man of faith and is a Christian leader, and he is not a person to hide his faith. He wears it openly and honestly. But that doesn’t make his candidacy is a religious discussion. Huckabee’ candidacy is about:

-The Fair Tax and abolshing the IRS.
-Winning in Iraq.
-Fighting the war on terror.
-Reforming our healthcare system.
-Fiscal repsonsibility.
-Securing our borders and reforming the immigration system.
-Energy independence.
-Protecting the sanctity of life.
-Protecting traditional marriage.

I have no problem with reasonable criticism of Huck’s campaign. but, you guy’s build straw man arguments then knock them down like you’ve accomplisged something.

I am fully aware that this is the wrong place to debate religion. I’ll give it a rest – it’s just so fun! :)

You’re using the rules of your belief system to pass judgement on a belief system that operates by rules that are parallel in some ways but completely different in other ways.

In essence, you’re saying ‘my religion is right because my religion teaches that it is right.’ Well, of course it’s going to say that.

I checked my Bible, and I see nothing in there about Jesus coming back to rule the United States, much less any other country. I see nothing about the Jews being given a second chance to be saved (they rejected the Messiah once already). I also see nothing about temples in the New Testament church. I also see nothing about Jesus ruling the earth for 1,000 years (why not 2,000? Why not 65?). On whose land is Jesus building this temple? Where in Missouri? More importantly, why would Jesus bother coming back to rule and imperfect world that was destined to be destroyed from the very beginning? Why waste time building a temple that’s going to be burnt up with the rest of the earth? Mormon theology is convoluted, at best. Nope, I didn’t forget that. We believe Christ will visit every temple on the earth at some point because they are all called “the House of the Lord.” Right now, there are over a hundred LDS temples all over the world. We’re an equal opportunity religion when it comes to salvation.

But that wasn’t the question. It was how will Muslims feel about the Mormon belief that Jesus will return to the United States and rule personally for a 1000 years? Romney was correcting Stephanopolos’ mistake. We believe that Christ will return to Jerusalem first as prophesied in the Bible to save the Jewish people from impending destruction. He will rule over the entire Earth for a millenium, so yes he will visit the Americas (and any temple built there). In fact, the city of Zion (from the Old Testament) is supposed to return to the Earth and we believe it will be located in Missouri and a new temple will be built there. So what? Do you think New York would be a better place?

Anyway, I think it’s unfair to expect Romney to explain all these details when he was trying to correct an error regarding LDS doctrine and point out the similarities with other Christian faiths. He’s not an LDS church spokesman after all. And leave it to Stephanopolos (or any other MSM talking head) to get LDS doctrine wrong, but imply that Romney’s lying. These guys love to play gotcha journalism and twist any words that come out of any candidate’s mouth. I didn’t see Stephanopolos ask the other candidate’s about the intricacies of their respective religions and then run to their religious leaders to confirm or deny what they said. It’s pretty ridiculous.

I forgot to add. This article may be a little convoluted for the feable minded but compared to the AP story at the same time this is much more in depth. I don’t believe the asertions can be refuted to any substantiative degree. Correct me if I’m wrong.
