Video: Sure I’d sign my immigration bill as president, says McCain

posted at 1:23 pm on January 27, 2008 by Allahpundit

Consider this a footnote to Maverick’s appearance on H&C last weekend, when he reminded a jittery GOP base looking for reasons to take a second look at him that no, in fact, he hasn’t changed his position on immigration. This returns us to the old debate about whether it’s better to pander unconvincingly or to stick to your guns as a show of resolve. Maverick wants it both ways: Damn right he’d sign that bill, although of course it’s paramount that we secure our borders first. Square that circle if you can. He’s heard the voice of the people! — and he’ll happily ignore it if given the chance.

Which he may get, and he knows it.

This would have been the perfect peg for famously tough interviewer Tim Russert to bring up Juan Hernandez. Think he did?

The man without a doubt is for no borders.. The American people better wake up!! If he were to be elected you can kiss this wonderful country goodbye. The Mexican flag will be flying over the White house.

John “$50 an Hour Lettuce” McCain.

Lying his way to oblivion.

Bye-bye, Johnny.

And a pair of steel ball bearings as a consolation prize.

Now that the Clintons have driven off a quarter of their support, we may not need your help.

THE CHOSEN ONE on January 27, 2008 at 6:27 PM

Yup, you’re right. Democrats will actually stay home in the same numbers and Conservatives and allow McCain to roll into the White House. Yup, completely right.

/eye-roll

McCain has zero shot of ever becoming POTUS as a Republican. If he switched parties to the Democrats and ran he might have a shot, but as it stands none.

John McCain sucks more than anyone has ever sucked before.
I’m finding it hard to believe how absolutely clueless he is on what the majority of people want regarding immigration. Does he really think we are this stupid or does he just not care? McCain is so dangerous it scares me.
I really hope people wake up and see him for what he is instead of what he’s trying to spin with smoke and mirrors.

Both. It infuriates me that the polls and the voting that has already taken place, say to McLame: “Go John, your right on the money! We don’t care if you screw us over!”

Ummmm…go back and listen carefully to the first video clip, people. McCain says “yes, BUT…the bill won’t come in that form. People don’t want it.”

Not quite as weaselly as most here seem to think.

I’m still not for him, but let’s not stomp him with anything but the truth.
