Even with the threat of Bustamante, I voted for McClintock, who I thought would be the stronger conservative. Huck, for some reason, reminds me of Arnold. It’s that same populism that gets me.

Compare that with the insanity going on in the Democrat column. Unless Hillary and Obama do a major Kumbaya, that race looks pretty nasty.
Of course, it could simply be part of a Clintonian triangulation shtick, but I really think that the Dems are getting weary of the entire Clinton circus.

Obama was simply made by the Almighty to be a Democrat VP choice, and Rush’s old prediction may turn out to be true.

Pray tell, which “cross-section” of the Republican Party will not voting for McCain disenfranchise?

I started to write out a long diatribe about which parts of the party hate each particular candidate, but it turned out to be very difficult to follow. I’ll answer your question simply by saying that each of the three candidates has a significant number of people within the GOP who think they are unfit to lead.

And why vote for someone who so totally botched his campaign like Thompson?

Because I liked how Fred! ran his campaign. He was offered his services as a leader; he wasn’t whoring himself out to the party. He didn’t look like a baby-kissing, glad-handing power-seeking jabroni. He just ran on the issues. What makes me very depressed is that so few people saw this for what it was: integrity. Instead we had pundits like AP playing up that oh-so-stupid “fire in the belly” mantra.

I never wanted a politician with “fire in the belly.” In fact, those kinda guys scare me. I want someone who reluctantly seeks power and sticks to what they know best. I may not agree with all the decisions they’ve made in life, but at least you have a good idea about why they made them.

So it’s down to Romney.

I have serious doubts about his Health Insurance plan. I think far too many Republicans are buying into this idea that Insurance is somehow part of governmental responsibility. The business he pulled in Massachusetts worries me greatly, as does his understanding of the Illegal Immigration issue. I think he is willing to buy into the “Secure the borders first” agenda, but where is he going from there? Lots of questions linger.

And as for Schmuckabee – we’ve already have sent one sleazy POS from Hope, Arkansas to the White House.

Indeed. Huckabee is the biggest danger to the GOP of all. He just turns people off left and right with his disingenuous remarks. He is just a Pro-Life, Pro-Gun Democrat and it’s sad to see so many good people be otherwise taken in by his bible thumping.

Wow, I’ve read this blog for a long time now, and was part of the newby class of spring 2007 (two “open for newcomers” ago), but I’ve got to say that this new class of newbies is really something.

I used to enjoy reading the comments, though I don’t often comment myself, but recently I’ve found myself rolling my eyes and going on to the next post. It’s like we have a bunch of junior high school beta males ruling the comment pages now.

It’s hard to disagree with this sentiment. I’ve been registered since 2006, and I have never seen such an argumentative, name-calling bunch of new commenters. Mrs. Malkin, Bryan, AP, etc., spend their days posting these stories, running down leads, and providing us with provocative and interesting analysis. I have a hard time believing they enjoy seeing this kind of response to their hard work.

You guys can do better. If you can’t, you should think about what your purpose is in commenting here at all.

And that’s my humble opinion.
