Obama completes endorsement sweep of loathsome Massachusetts senators

Unlike Kerry’s, this one might actually do some good.
Democrats said the endorsement will help Obama with traditional Democratic groups where Clinton has been strong — union households, Hispanics and downscale workers.
Also, the nod by the most experienced member of the Senate adds significant standing to Obama, who is working to prove he has the experience necessary to be president.
Having him and Caroline endorse as a pair will go a long way towards sidetracking the post-Carolina “black candidate” narrative Team Hillary’s trying to jump-start, so either Obama’s the luckiest pol alive or this is a master stroke of media management by him and his campaign.
Follow the Politico link and thrill to the image of our now ex-first black president pleading with Teddy not to strip him of his “heir to JFK” title too — but don’t quit before the end, as it’s the last two paragraphs that tell the story here. This isn’t about policy preferences (mostly), it’s about “souls being touched” by that special shallow blend of youth, looks, and oratory that denotes the true Camelot bloodline. Hence the significance of Caroline’s approval, which operates less as an endorsement (intellectually, who cares what she thinks?) than a recognition of royal legitimacy. For all the abuse conservatives take for their Reagan worship, there’s at least never been any creepy element of congenital aristocracy to it of the sort cultivated by the Kennedys and their decrepit hagiographers. If Obama winning means we’re in for another round of that, replete with that curious dynamic of populist progressivism that somehow requires a monarch to administer it, please, give us Hillary.
On the other hand, it’ll make for pretty some sweet Neely Brothers vids in 40 years. Content warning.

But didn’t the Clinton camp release news of this endorsement?
Vizzini on January 27, 2008 at 8:34 PM
Do you think there were some behind the scenes problems between Teddy and Hill that influenced this decision? Perhaps he thought she was wielding too much power and stepping on his turf?

ONE WAY TO LOOK AT THIS : IT’S THE REVENGE OF THE OLD LEFT AND NEW NEW LEFT ON THE CENTRIST DLC/PSEUDO LEFT.
BILL N HILL WERE THE RIGHT CHANGE IN 1992 WHEN THEY WERE CENTRISTS WHO GOT PEROT TO DROP OUT - BEFORE HE DROPPED BACK IN (TO TAKE VOTES FROM BUSH AND ELECT THE DLC CLINTON).
THE OLD LEFT NEVER LIKED HIM OR HIS TRIANGULATING.
NOW THEY HAVE SOMEONE THEY THINK CAN BRING THE OLD LEFT BACK TO THE TOP.
THEY HATE BILL N HILL ALOMST AS MUCH AS THEY HATE JOEMENTUM.

revenge. Its not nice to hear the Clintons talk and
dispairage the African American voter.I think Liberals
are figureing out the Clintons crossed the line within
their own party, and the words that Bill and Hill used on Obama are now royally backfiring and Hill and Bill are

I am encouraged that the Old Dem Guard are rejecting the most crooked (Hillary), the most liberal (Kucinich), the most pragmatic (Biden), the most experienced (Richardson), and the most phony (Breck Girl) of the candidates in deference to the one with the least on-the-job knowledge and no ties to modern American liberal politics. It’s a total rejection of their own life-long work, an admission by the liberals of the 60’s-90’s that after all that time they have nothing to offer themselves and are therefore turning to a completely new and untested form of liberalism.
For Ted Kennedy to reject nearly 50 years of his life’s work for someone who is nothing like him is a very telling symbol.

I heard that there are more Demos than Repubs now, because the conservative base went Independent during the amnesty debacle. Let’s hope that most of the Indies are willing to vote 4 Mitt.
Hillary Rotten Clintoon and Barak Hussein Obama both spell disaster for America.

Anyway, here’s hoping Kennedy’s endorsement of Obama is enough to get some of the “If so and so is the republican nominee, I won’t vote” people to change their minds and keep the Dhimmis out.

Bill Jeff Caesar to Senator Ted: Et tu Brute’?

The following has been pilfered from M.W. Gail’s excellent article posted at American Thinker. Here’s what McCain is all about:
Amnesty.
Allowing illegal aliens to participate in S.S.
No more ballot initiatives AGAINST immigration.
Giving guest workers a path to citizenship.
Allowing MORE foreign workers in the US for “farm work”
Voted YES on setting aside 10% of highway funds for minorities & women. (Mar 1998)
Voted NO on ending special funding for minority & women-owned business. (Oct 1997)
Regulate nicotine as a drug. (Jul 1998)
Remove charitable deduction; it only benefits rich. (Jan 2000)
Middle-class tax cut: expand 15% tax bracket. (Jan 2000)
Voted YES on banning drilling the ANWR
Voted on a Constitutional ban on burning the US Flag (June 2006)
Against an “unfiltered” Internet as he deems that it steals the “innocence” away for America’s children.
Against term limits
Calls waterboarding torture
Thinks that we should consult LAWYERS on war decisions (2007) so that we don’t go to war “half-cocked”.
Wants to close Gitmo

Entelechy on January 27, 2008 at 10:13 PM
I agree, she’s burned so many bridges that even if she wins the nomination, the general isn’t gonna be easy for her. A lot of the left will go vote, but I think she’ll lose the black vote if she gets the nomination.
I have a real hard time believing Obama is gonna want to be attached in any way to the Hildebeest, she’s become way too radioactive and is by her nature divisive, considering Obama’s personal style and that he’d want the VP spot as a springboard to the Presidency? He’s better off not taking it.
He’d be better off waiting and staying in the Senate than accepting the VP spot, build himself up some “gravitas”, he’s young enough that he can do that.

I don’t agree with him on amnesty, but he was voting with the GOP president on that issue. And the constitutional ban on flag-burning was a Republican idea! You can cherry-pick anybody’s voting record (he has cast hundreds of them, after all), but the percentages tell the story.

Fresh, articulate, honest, and… endorsed by Kennedy and Kerry.
Shiny new goods, marked with the musk of corruption the oldtimers will find comforting.
drunyan8315 on January 28, 2008 at 12:09 AM
True.
Hillary represents the tired, same old same old, 60s liberal mantra, flavored with the Clinton lust for power at any cost. The Dems will feel obligated to vote for her, but with no enthusiasm.
Barry represents new fresh liberalism that will get people excited and want to vote for him. He will energize the base and likely spur lots of young voters who might otherwise stay home if Hillary is the candidate.
There is enough dirt to bury Hillary in the general election.
Mallard T. Drake on January 28, 2008 at 12:27 AM

logis on January 28, 2008 at 12:58 AM
Got to disagree with you fundamentally there. BO is a an ideal example of the Saul Alinsky community activist a generation or two later. (Hillary and Edwards are two other familiar “types” of the sort you also would have encountered if you ever, as I once did, wasted large amounts of time with leftist activists.) It’s not an accident that his speeches are so magnificently empty, and that people mistakenly believe he’s moderate, or beyond left and right. Barack learned early on to keep any threateningly concrete objectives or scary beliefs and perceptions to himself, and instead speak fluently in a vacuous language of unity, community, optimism, novelty, and so on. As a result, rather inevitably, his newfangled campaign becomes a weird orgy of hyper-tokenism - not the end or transcendance of affirmative action and the era it represents, and not even the apotheosis of affirmative action, but apotheosis AS affirmative action (and vice versa).
It’s not surprising that such a profoundly deceptive spectacle is treated by so many as the most inspiring political event of their lives.

On the flip side: you can’t expect to wield supreme executive power just ‘cuz some watery tart threw a sword at you.
