Does anyone else remember when the President of the United States of America was THE most respected office in this nation? Does no-one care that it has now been denigrated to such a low standing that running for that esteemed office is more like “Survivor”? I am sick of it all. I think I will call it quit with the politics and go stick my head in the sand.

I just feel that these types of appearances are incredibly un-presidential. While they may utter a few funny one-liners, they cheapen the office. I don’t agree with Huckabee when he states the American people want their president to be like the guy they work with rather than the guy who laid them off. I want my president to be someone I look up to and can respect, even if I don’t agree with him all the time.

At this point, Rudy or Mitt are both fine with me. Especially if they Pick Fred! for veep. (my Fred08 bumper sticker stays) The dems are taking a huge hit right now. For them it is all about race and gender, and we should be capitalizing instead of trying to kill our own. Mccain may not be conservative enough on some issues, but if you think Barack would be a better choice, I have a one click cure.

Assuming it’s split evenly (which I doubt), that makes it an 8-9% Republican problem.

Meanwhile, Rudy has a much larger “Pro-Life” problem, compounded by the fact he’s not exactly the example of Catholic living.

Credit where due: Barack did fine with this; contrast his 10 promises with the 10 HClinton did on the Letterman show a few months ago. It’s the entire campaign in a nutshell: He’s likeable, she’s not. And this IS a popularity contest.
In all honesty, I wish the Republicans were running a candidate younger than 60 for the nomination.

Actually, I got a kick out of it. A nice break from serious politics. I have said before though, if Mc’Vain or the Huckster are our candidates, and Obama is the Dems, I will vote for Obama. I have my reasons, and I am sticking to them. Good to see he has a sense of humor though.

As with all things Letterman, this was not funny at all. I think Obama is a cool guy for doing it though.

And Letterman is such a cool guy for having him on for some free publicity. Think he’d do that for Rudy or Mitt? Not a chance.
