New Romney ad hammers McCain: “Democrats’ favorite Republican”

McCain antes and Romney raises. There needs to be a lot more immigration stuff, but we’ll have to wait until Mitt’s safely out of Florida for that. Consider this a very good start.

I like these ad a lot. Especially as it plays on McCain’s own theme in the nightmare ad. Kudos.

I respectfully disagree. Stopping an invasion of your country is priority 1. If a leader cant, or is too corrupt to, do that simple thing, not much else matters.
DwnSouthJukin on January 25, 2008 at 6:42 PM
Both of them have taken very ‘unconservative’ positions numerous times in the past, so the ads will be fast and furious… and most right about each. We get the kind of politics- and politicians- we support or tolerate.
In the meantime, the one ‘non-politician’ in the bunch that was the most conservative? Sent packing, for the sin of being ‘lazy’ and…unpolitical.
And face it folks: no group is more ‘political’ than the Democrat party. The GOP has chosen to play their game, by their rules; expect to see essentially these same attack ads run by the Democrats in the General.
Let’s hope the Dems don’t cause too much damage once their in full control in ‘09. I’m not optimistic.

I would submit there is no difference between Hillary and McCain.
-Both acquiesced in the 90’s when our military was being gutted.
-Both will stake out positions opposed by their party when necessary.
-Both will change those opinions and claim otherwise when necessary.
-Both are grasping politicians.
-Both are extremely temperamental and default to personal attacks when questioned on issues.
-Both would refuse water treatment, (torture for the pansy crowd), even if lives were at stake.
-Both would nuance immigration reform and de facto grant amnesty.
-Both are more interested in consolidating small groups of power in congress than building consensus.
-Both are uniformed on economic issues and solutions.
-Both would opposed tax cuts and would cut deals to raise taxes in exchange for concessions elsewhere.
-Both condemn others when challenged on the stump.
-Both would weaken the CIA.
-Both would bluster but ultimately appease a military confrontation after the benefit of hindsight surrounding the negative outcome, (see water treatment).
-Both always point fingers for blame.
-Both will oppose conservative judges.
-Both support Global Warming

Duncan Hunter on Mitt Romney
“I am extremely concerned that Governor Romney’s company would tout a highly suspect Chinese corporation as a strategic partner,” stated Hunter. “Forming a business partnership with a corporation known to have direct ties with terrorists and dictators while, at the same time, openly seeking to acquire a major U.S. corporation that performs vital cyber security work for the Department of Defense, can only be characterized as irresponsible.”
A resolution has been introduced in Congress, H.Res. 730, which states; “The preponderance of publicly available evidence clearly suggests that as currently structured, the proposed transaction involving Huawei threatens the national security of the United States and should not be approved by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States .” A copy of this resolution is provided.
Hunter stated in his letter to Governor Romney, “…while it is true that you no longer control Bain Capital, the contributions you have received from its principals as its founding member indicate that your influence within the company remains strong.
“Further, while the Committee on Foreign Investment has yet to rule on the Huawei transaction, this corporation’s connection to Saddam Hussein, the Taliban and the Army of Communist China should clearly disqualify them from becoming, in the words of your former company, “a strategic partner” in acquiring a U.S. firm such as 3COM, which performs vital cyber-security work for the U.S. Department of Defense.
“This letter is a request that you immediately issue a statement of policy that this transaction should be terminated on the grounds of national security. Please let me know what you intend to do.”
Still no comment from Romney…I guess he couldn’t care less about protecting America.

I am for Romney, now, but I know he will try and slide amnesty in, he has repeated this “we need to make it easy on businesses” line… He seems like a legal open borders kind a guy. Which is only slightly less horrible than McCain. Romney never comments on internal enforcement, ever. He needs to enforce the law for his first term, how ever many illegals are left pay a stiff fine, and have to pay into Social Security without acruing benefits for a decade. Then they can get in the line to become a citizen. And they have to speak english to qualify for amnesty.

This whole “sovereignty” thing is getting a little old. Government for the People, by the People, and of the People. If the wants to vote in representatives who will be lax on immigration, as it have done in the past and seem prepared to do in the future, it is its sovereign right to do so. The soldiers are fighting to protect our rights and freedoms to make these decisions, not to enforce a particular interpretation of what those decisions should be.

SimplyKimberly on January 25, 2008 at 7:34 PM
That is a bit of a theoretical statement, to its extreme you get Hitler elected to office in pre WW2 Germany because that is what the people wanted or Hezbollah in the Gaza Strip. Voting in people who are lax on immigration is not desirable and it doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t fight against it every time it happens. That is why the word is getting out on McCain, because people don’t want to vote in somebody that doesn’t respect the US and its borders.
Back to you previous statement, what do you think are the most important issues?

Wow. That was harsh. True, but harsh. Had I been a McCain supporter, I would have been upset. Because I am not, I give it an A for awesome.
As for illegal immigration not being an important issue, let me tell you about the 10 minutes I spent at a tow yard this morning, waiting to look at a wrecked truck while three illegals (yeah, I’m guessing, but I’m probably right anyway) stood in the poor man’s office jibbering in spanglish about how they wanted their Ford Explorer to drive out and how he had to explain, using hands, that they can’t because no brakes, no brakes, no stop. No insurance either, which, I am sure, the dude driving the Mitsubishi Galant they rear ended is oh-so-thrilled about. Cut to this country boy trying to essplain to them that they need to go to the state police to get a release after paying fines, and the head-illegal then whining about how he needs help because he no speaka eeeeengleeesh. Wants this man to call the state police and talk to them for him! He’s runs a friggin’ tow yard, not an illegal-aid office! Ten minutes after that, after I made my snark about “this is why we need ENGLISH” on the way out and I have looked at the truck I was there for, I come back into the office and he’s still wasting his time helping these fools. I look at variations of this ALL the time. No insurance, no english, can’t understand why they can’t take their vehicles, what’s wrong with causing accidents that they don’t have to pay for?? It’s always the first day of the first time their horrid insurance companies dropped them for non-payment of premiums. Yeah, I ain’t heard that one before, man. Maybe you should send some of that moola you’re making under the table to your carrier instead of back home to Messico.
Yeah, eff McCain. Wrong day to say that illegal immigration is not a priority. How about we fix that clusterf*** and then we’ll have all of that to spend on other stuff. I think I read that we spend 334 billion a year on freebies for them. Thanks for my 600.00 back in five months, bub.
My bad. 338 billion.

Lol, reading through the comments, me thinks it might be time to purge a few commentators. Not meaning any one with opposing views, just the ones with the vulgar language as a argument. Not for me to decide, but just a suggestion. I usually like to read comments, but when the flame throwers and baiter’s come out, I get bored fast. I also do not think it reflects well on the reputation of Hot Air.
However, as I said, that is all for the staff to decide.

MalkinFan on January 25, 2008 at 9:42 PM
I don’t think the base is into it, but certain pandering politicians seem to be trying to grab some cross-over votes. *cough* McCain *cough*.
That’s not to say there’s no overlap though. The Republicans were the original party with interests in protecting the environment. I’m personally for eliminating dependence on foreign oil, clean air and water, nice pretty forests, etc. But I think these goals require tons of nuclear power, drilling ANWR like it’s a schoolgirl in a Hentai flick, mining all of that nice clean coal out of southern Utah, developing better battery technology etc. Then we can tell the Saudi, Iranian, and Venezuelan governments to go forth and multiply.

Geez, I don’t know what you are basing this on other than “he seems”. Seriously, Mitt Romney’s website is not that hard to find, it’s mittromney.com. Anyways, here is what he says about immigration.
The Romney Plan
-Finish the Border Fence
- Implement an Enforceable Employer Verification System
- Cut Federal Funds to Sanctuary Cities
- Fines and Penalties for Employers who continue to hire illegals
Given Governor Romney’s record of:
- Vetoing Drivers Licenses for Illegals
- Deputizing the State Police to Enforce Federal Immigration Law
And, given his endorsements from Sheriff Joe Arpaio and Tom Tancredo, I’d say Governor Romney has more credibility on the immigration issue than anyone else in the race.

joncoltonis on January 25, 2008 at 11:16 PM
Huh. Seems like that quieted the prolific and obnoxious Harald the Christian dissembler.
I liked the ad, myself. I’m sympathetic to McCain’s claims that he voted against the tax cuts because there were no corresponding spending cuts. This the very thing that messed up the Reagan tax cuts — rampant spending.
I am not sympathetic to his embrace of filthy scum like Ted Kennedy and socialist weenies like Obama.
Jaibones on January 26, 2008 at 12:19 AM
McCain voted against the tax cuts because he knew that was exactly what the MSM wanted him to do. And he was, is and will be, their slave. That is, until Hillary (the MSM’s real love) finally finishes off his old senile ass.
If he wanted to introduce a bill to cut 20% of Federal Spending across the board, why didn’t he do so?
Well, I guess that was because he was too busy putting his name on such MSM-pleasing crap as McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy (entirely written, incidentally, by La Raza and Kennedy’s far-left staff – stupid McCain admitted he didn’t know what was in the bill he vainly put his name on) and the “Gang of 14″ RINO dodge that effectively cut the legs off of Bill Frist, the Majority Leader in the Senate – a political rival, as well as those of the entire Republican Party.
McCain’s constant duplicity and liberal-buttkissing was a major factor in the loss of the Senate in the last election. He ruined the Party’s brand, to be honest.
And then. to top himself, in the vote for the last Shamnesty attempt, Shamnesty II, McCain cowardly ran out of the chamber to vote for some Federal Judge. That way his vote (pro-Shamnesty, of course) would not be cast, thus not affecting his pathetic last run for the Presidency.
To call this POS a lying scumbag would defame all other lying scumbags.
The Bushies and assorted brain-dead RINOs in the RNC better quickly decide if they even want to have a national political party anymore.
