Open borders advocate Juan Hernandez has joined the McCain campaign Updated

John McCain says that he has heard the American people and now understands that we need to secure the border before enacting any “comprehensive” immigration reform. But John McCain has also said that he hasn’t changed his position. He supported amnesty in 2003 by name, proposed it in 2006 and 2007 without calling it amnesty, and says that anyone who says that he ever supported amnesty is a liar. He has insulted Americans who advocate border security and has cursed at the thought of building a border fence. Which of all of these is the real John McCain? The presence of Juan Hernandez in the background of the McCain campaign tells me that John McCain is as weak on border security now as he ever was.

Old school Hot Air readers might remember Dr. Juan Hernandez. He’s a dual citizen of the US and Mexico, was a member of Vicente Fox’s government, and is as open borders as you can get. In December 2006, Michelle hosted the Factor and the producers decided to see what it would be like to put her and Hernandez on the show together. “Chummy” does not describe the atmosphere.

At the time of this argument, SeeDubya caught Hernandez telling a whopper about illegal aliens and identity theft.

Here’s a photo of him, found on McCain’s daughter Meghan’s blog. It’s from the December 10, 2007 blog entry titled “Univision Debate Gallery,” 7th photo down.

07.jpg

That’s Hernandez, Meghan McCain and adviser Mark McKinnon in the photo. He apparently joined the McCain campaign without much fanfare in November 2007.

Of Mexicans who move to the US, Hernandez has said:

“I want the third generation, the seventh generation, I want them all to think ‘Mexico first.’”

These are Americans that Hernandez is talking about. Does John McCain agree that they should always “think ‘Mexico first?’” That’s the man who began serving as John McCain’s “Hispanic Outreach Directo” last year. Is there any reason that anyone should think open borders fanatic Dr. Hernandez wants President McCain to secure the border? Is there any reason that anyone should trust a man to secure the border if he is getting his “Hispanic Outreach” advice from Dr. Juan Hernandez?

Update: Michelle has a lot more on this story.

Dr. Juan Hernandez, McCain Hispanic outreach director: “We must not only have a free flow of goods and services, but also start working for a free flow of people.”

I trust Tancredo’s, DeMint’s and Arpaio’s opinions, and they all endorsed Romney. If you can’t trust those guys, you certainly can’t trust Huck’s “miraculous” conversion to an Amnesty hawk.

Besides that, Tancredo is not going away just because he is out of the Presidential race. If Romney tried to do a McCain on us, Tancredo would verbally beat him like a drum.

Duncan Hunter endorsed Mike Huckabee partially because he is the only one who will PREVENT amnesty.

Duncan Hunter endorsed Mike Huckabee because Duncan Hunter is a Southern Baptist. And, like all Huckabee supporters, it’s all about The Jesus.

Duncan Hunter was raised in the Southern Baptist faith. At the age of 16, Duncan made a decision to receive Christ as savior. He has pursued a daily relationship with God ever since. Feeling called to honor God by serving his country, at age 21 he joined the U.S. Army and fought in the Vietnam War. Currently Hunter attends First Baptist Church of Alpine in California and is on the advisory board of a Christian disaster relief mission called Rescue Task Force.

Read All About Hunter’s Religion Here

He’s just as bad as Mike Huckabee when it comes to whipping up the Evangelicals.

God willing this will be Juan’s lament put to verse next Tuesday:

I’m a loser
I’m a loser
And I’m not what I appear to be

Of all the votes I have won or have lost
there is one vote I should never have come across
It was a primary in a million, my friends
I should have known it would be Florida that got me in the end

I’m a loser
And I lost an el Presidency that was dear to me
I’m a loser
And I’m not what I appear to be

Although I talk and I act like I’ve been surging all around
Beneath this smirk I am wearing a frown
My tears are falling like rain from the sky
Is it for my el Presidency and myself that I cry

I’m a loser
And I lost an el Presidency that was so dear to me
I’m a loser
And I’m not what I appear to be

What have I done to deserve such a fate
I realized my shamnesty game was up but it was by then too late
And so it’s true, being a conniving weasel comes before a fall
I’m telling you so that you won’t lose all

I’m a loser
And I lost an el Presidency that was dear to me
I’m a loser
And I’m not what I appear to be

Hunter is a loser. He deserves no attention. He couldn’t compete in the main ring so his endorsement means nothing. Is it true the New York Times couldn’t decide between Huckster and McCain?

You’re absolutely right. ALL these guys would make life politically very difficult for Romney is pulled a McCain. I’m sure Romney wouldn’t want to go down in history as a disgraced one-term President. He is heavily into legacy, with his father and all.

Hunter specifically endorsed him because Romney wouldn’t oppose Bain Capital involvement in the 3Com sale to a Chinese company. It wasn’t Amnesty, Farald.

Igor R. on January 25, 2008 at 7:53 PM

Some not unbiased military history on McCain.

Aircraft #4 loss was not his fault, and maybe not #3, but #1 and #2 sure look like his fault (practicing landings, and flying too low).

I believe Bush 41 and Bush 43 lost a total one plane between them.

I do honor his service, though. No problem.

Forget his past record, though. It’s what he has done and wants to do TO HIS OWN country that bothers me.

With what’s currently going on on our Mexican border. President Bush is an embarrassment and any dream of John (Feingold-Kennedy) McCain as president is a nightmare.

How our government stands bye as our nearly unarmed Border Patrol is pitched against Mexican military incursions into this country (protecting drug cartels) is treasonous.

First of all, I’m not a woman. Anyone but a ‘Johhny come lately” troll around Hot Air would know that.

Second of all, Some of us are not paid by someone’s campaign to hang out on Hot Air all day to pimp for their candidate; Some of us have real lives that interfere with us hanging around constantly to argue with mental midgets.

Third of all, I don’t have links to post about all of what I said, because I base the my comments on personal discussions with those who who knew him personally, at Annapolis and/or during his flying days.

You see, unlike you, who merely lives near a Military base, I have spent quite a lot of time on them (Including Your Ft.Bragg (JFKSWS to be specific)), and quite a lot of time all over the world with professional Soldiers, Sailors and even a few Airmen.

Go ahead, call me a liar on that. No one around here that knows a little bit about me personally will have much doubt about the veracity of my claims; Those, like you, that will believe that I am a liar, are people who’s opinion means less than nothing to me, so your disbelief won’t make me feel bad at all.

But, if you want some sort of a link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_McCain
And if you care to read between the lines just on that article, you will see exactly what kind of person McCain was and is; Both the admirable and the less than admirable.

So, If you still wanna ‘dance’, you will have to drop by my house; I gotta get some wiring and painting done tonight and won’t be online very much, at least until after midnight, Mountain time.

LegendHasIt on January 25, 2008 at 8:09 PM

fred5678 on January 25, 2008 at 7:53 PM

Thanks for the link. It appears John was as ham handed with aircraft as he is with immigration, taxes, and the 1st Amendment. I wonder why he doesn’t talk about this as much as his POW status.

McCain lost five U.S. Navy aircraft.

Navy pilot John Sidney McCain III should have never been allowed to graduate from the U.S. Navy flight school. He was a below average student and a lousy pilot. Had his father and grandfather not been famous four star U.S. Navy admirals, McCain III would have never been allowed in the cockpit of a military aircraft.

His father John S. “Junior” McCain was commander of U.S. forces in Europe later becoming commander of American forces in Vietnam while McCain III was being held prisoner of war. McCain III’s grandfather John S. McCain, Sr. commanded naval aviation at the Battle of Okinawa in 1945.

During his relative short stunt on flight status, McCain III lost five U.S. Navy aircraft, four in accidents and one in combat.

I also understand that he set a record for demerits while at the Academy. I’m guessing he was a “maverick” at an early age.

One of my high school classmates was Chuck Krulak, who attended Annapolis while his father was a very senior Marine. Chuck caught hell from upper classmen while there (I assume McCain did, too), but obviously didn’t get (many, if any) demerits, and eventually became the top Marine – Commandant.

One Krulak story – he was always being hazed by upperclassmen, so one day when one was walking right toward him, he ducked around the corner of a building and bumped right into another upperclassman, who invited him up to his room to “hang around” that night. Upon arriving, the upperclassman pointed to the top door jam and said, “Start hanging.”

Have you tried 8-finger pullups lately?

Bring it on you socialists. We have defeated you in the Cuban Missle Crisis, Grenada, whatever. If you think Johnny McCain is somehow scared of this blowhard Putin, then think again. Putin, is a gutless coward who thinks SOME AMERICANS will fold. I disagree. I feel that people will tell that wannabe that USA aint for sale, there rusky.
Stand strong against these ruskies, bring your poloniuom 210 to the states you punks. Stop baitin’ the brits. Find a real fight cowards.

My dear Jaibones, I don’t drink. I’m the exact same one you’ve known all along. Earlier in the morning, in this thread, I explained to you what’s going on. It’s you, my friend, who perhaps doesn’t want to have a little fun. I’m ok with it, especially on a Friday night, and given the roller-coaster political season we’re in. As always,

Second look at ‘the chosen one’ for being Dr. Juan Hernandez.

McCain’t is an old liberal fool.

Hm…there is actually nothing good about the guy. He is just a male version of Hillary, how sad. No wonder Bubba says they get along famously. It’s amazing what what kind of pathetic creatures have come so close to becoming the most powerful person in the world. Gotta be for Romney under the circumstances.

Murphy9, is there royalty in your background?

Entelechy on January 26, 2008 at 12:58 AM

It’s these “bleeding heart” liberals that disgust me the most. John McCain can move to Tijuana with his anti-American, open-border, Mexico-loyal pal after they lose the primaries to Mitt.

Entelechy on January 26, 2008 at 12:58 AM

Every time Murphy’s law affects anyone in the world he gets a royalty of $9.

Igor R. on January 26, 2008 at 1:01 AM

Igor R. did you read the Russian classics?

I think Tolstoi was a strange man. However, he sait “The one thing that is necessary, in life as in art, is to tell the truth.” I don’t think any of the politicians could ever live by this.

McInsane’s heart bleeds for no one. If a former POW has no compassion for wounded veterans or MIAs, whatever he does or says is only to benefit himself.

Entelechy on January 26, 2008 at 1:02 AM

I read all the Russian classics, but not recently. I don’t know that Tolstoy was strange, but he did rewrite War and Peace which is huge by hand some ungodly number of times.

As far as the “necessary” part I find it questionable, its not clear what it means. And certainly Fred was far more truthful than any of the ones that are left. Sadly Obama, who is the most radical of the ones left and the nut Ron Paul are the most truthful of the rest.

You mean how it’s possible that I like to play with words?

Igor R. on January 26, 2008 at 1:09 AM

Way more than words.

I respect that you read them. It doesn’t matter when. In gymnasium, in universal literature, we had to read an author a week, then write about it in detail. Many nights spent reading/writing. It did, however, provide a path for great reading, and an eternal love for same.

I see you like to spell his name as Tolstoy. Yes, he was a very, very strange man. I read a large biography of his and he did write/re-write by hand in the day time. Then at night his wife would transcribe all that, over, and over, and over. He was very mean to her. They had many, many kids. He only believed in having sex for procreation, he was a minimalist in this regard seriously. In the end he went away from home and locked himself up in some trainstation, where he ended up dying. Genius, but strange, as many are.

I also agree with your ‘truthfulness’ assessment on Obama/Paul, and in general. It all depends on what the application is.

Entelechy on January 26, 2008 at 1:17 AM

Murphy9, is there royalty in your background?

Entelechy on January 26, 2008 at 12:58 AM

Well most of my ancestors were pillagers and thieves but there was one, a Peter Heinrich Theodor, who was a member of the extended German royal family. Or so I’m told.

Entelechy on January 26, 2008 at 1:17 AM

Well I tend to see multiple meaning of words and sentences at the same time and enjoy twisting their meanings. It’s just a game.

Things like War and Peace we just had to read, it was obligatory. I read some short stories by him too. There was a strange one about a woman, on a train ride, complaining about how men were evil and only after one thing. I was just unusual for the times. A lot of his stuff has to do with trains, like that one or Anna Karenina, that gets killed by a train. I didnt know how he died but its sort of fitting.

An about truthfulness, I literally have no idea what “necessary” means. He may have meant it “in front of God” or something like that.

Igor R. on January 26, 2008 at 1:26 AM

Whoops.

MB4 on January 26, 2008 at 1:26 AM
