Just when I think our neighbors have slipped too far the other way (see Ezra Levant), they go and redeem themselves like this.

This is actually a “hat trick” – (1) An appropriate message is sent, (2) because the Canadians said it, it actually has more meaning (at least for some countries), and (3) The CBC will have to really reach to blame George W. Bush and/or Washington…

I noticed in the comments on the piece that Canada was being savaged as a racist state for dropping out.

There seems to be a legion of jackals with western names making the most outlandish statements of stupidity and capriciousness. Even here on HA.

I am pleasantly surprised by Canada’s actions, that is great news.
As for whoever formed the council in the first place, I’m not sure what they expected when they invited countries like Iran and Cuba to attend. These countries ought to be treated like the barbarians they are and given no platform or opportunity to participate at all.

Why did the nimrods assume that bringing all the nations of the world together, unconditionally, would create a force for good when half the governing bodies of the world are tyrannies?

It was originally a gathering to open channels of communication and has now been morphed by those who like the UN tilt to be the World Wise Council of Unelected Elders whose main job is to transfer sovereignity from us to them

The UN should be renamed Nations United by Shared Hatreds. Call it NUSH and flush it down the drain with other mistakes or at least move it to Libya or the Sudan and save us some tax dollars

Oh by the way, British PM Brown is still pushing for a New World Order (which anyone who’s been paying attention will know has been the UN’s intention for a while, which is what is behind “climate change”, “bird flu” (or whatever the disease of the year is this year), etc.)

Brown himself announced (months before even taking the reigns) that he thought we need a “New World Order” to deal with global warming. Looks like he’s not wasting any time…

For the record, our Prime Minister Harper, although in a minority government, has been doing a fantastic job. There have been a few international conferences (global warming comes to mind) where Canada held out, played tough and ticked off the rest of the world.

bentman78, Canada has had years and years of Liberal Governments who have groveled and pandered to Islamists because they only have this one notion: ‘They are just like us’. Finally there is a Conservative Government in power, a minority one, but some backbone is starting to reveal itself. Thank God. That’s what Canada was.

It’s about time someone did. The UN and the HRC council are a joke and someone needs to stand up to him (besides that one guy that is, I don’t remember his name but I’m sure all here have seen the video).

I haven’t known Canada to have a lot of backbone, but maybe they do after all. Now only if the UK would do the same I might actually think of going back there and visiting my relatives of the once great United Kingdom.
