Video: Rudy on Larry King
posted at 8:40 am on January 24, 2008 by Bryan
If you missed Allah’s post about Rudy’s stats yesterday, here it is. Giuliani is already spinning Florida as just “very important” when up to now it’s been his firewall state. And so far he’s only attracted about 60,000 votes in the primaries. Total. That’s about 40k less than the only man who can save America has racked up. But hey, at least Rudy picked the Giants to beat the Packers.
So here’s Rudy on Larry King. Oddly enough, Larry actually asks Giuliani a tough(ish) question.

Poor Rudy. Top of the World to also ran.
What happened?

The mainstream media is only going to try to force just one liberal down the Republican’s throat. It isn’t Rudy.

America doesn’t take well to unorthodox politics I guess. Rudy played his hand expecting to be able to barely play in the first few states, but still explode later on due to name recognition and broader advertising. The problem is that people know who he is, but the media wasn’t really playing him because he wasn’t really a factor until Florida. Another victim of horrible campaigning. He’ll still get some states I’m sure, but in the end he’s just another guy clogging up the ticket.

What’s the matter with you people! We need more Heath Ledger, Brittnay Spears and Paris Hilton coverage! We don’t have time for politics! And who was that other individual that King had on last night and WHAT SEX WAS IT?
sabbott on January 24, 2008 at 8:57 AM
Don’t underestimate the fact that the MSM has chosen to treat Rudy as a non-entity, except to question his logic for making a stand in Florida. Had it been the “maverick” McCain playing the same game, there would have been a steady drumbeat of “it doesn’t get interesting until Flodida, yadda, yadda.” Not saying that’s the whole reason Rudy has cratered, but it contributed.

They are doing the same thing they did with fred.

Florida, why the hell did you give up half of your delegates to move up on the election calendar if you are just going slavishly follow the lead of New Hampshire and South Carolina? You can have a major impact. Vote Rudy and you are a kingmaker.

I’ve never warmed to Guliani-he’s better than some in the race, but much worse than others. His alleged ‘strategy’ of staying out of the early races seems to me to be that of someone who is saying, “I don’t care about Iowa. Or New Hampshire. Or Michigan.” We don’t care about you either, Rude.
Doug on January 24, 2008 at 9:33 AM
One doesn’t warm to him. His selling point is he’s a $&*^%, but he’s our $&*^%.

Rant calling Rudy (I’m sorry “ruDy”) a fascist who will take your guns from Thacker Agency in 3, 2….
kcluva on January 24, 2008 at 10:03 AM
See, this is the point that people don’t seem to get for some strange reason. It is precisely McCain’s strategy that is causing him to win the nomination. If it had been McCain playing the same game as ruDy, he’d have lost too.
But of course, it can’t be ruDy’s fault can it?
McCain’s election campaign has been the greatest in history – or in my lifetime. You people hate McCain so much that you can’t appreciate it. I don’t like the guy or agree with him either, but you have to give credit.
Many other election cycles there have been singular ‘surprises’ who didn’t go on to win the election. This election McCain is likely going to win and it is because of his strategy, not his positions. McCain’s campaign was much greater than Clinton’s (who would NOT have won if it was not for Ross Perot. . . the Dems didn’t think they could beat the incumbent that year so they didn’t think Clinton losing would hurt their party too much.)
But please people, I wish you would be able to appreciate it for what it is. . . a brilliant campaign – and the only difference between liberal R’s.

wow, you got it perfect kcluva!

What’s most upsetting about this whole primary thing is how few GOPers seem to understand that we are nominating a new commander in chief, one that will be in all likelihood faced with a nuclear jihad. Why in hell is someone like Huckabee even being considered, and why in hell are Giuliani’s qualifications as a war leader not being given top billing in our ranks?
It’s been no secret that al-Qaeda prefers Democrats. I wonder if they are now going bipartisan…
Halley on January 24, 2008 at 10:15 AM
Wow, that was prescient.
Asher on January 24, 2008 at 10:16 AM
yeah, I’ve had a lot of fun with the ruDy camp because I knew he wouldn’t win because of his strategy. It made good press. But he was the FRONTRUNNER. The FRONTRUNNER doesn’t shy away from ANY contests. . . if you are a ‘leader’.
So what exactly are ruDy’s qualifications as a ‘war leader’? He gave back the Saudi check? He and his city have been the only victim in America of an attack so we want the rest of the country to be attacked again so that he can shine with his ‘experience’? Was he in the military? I know McCain’s war leader qualifications as a Navy pilot. . . what exactly are ruDy’s?
ThackerAgency on January 24, 2008 at 10:21 AM
There you go again.
kcluva on January 24, 2008 at 10:25 AM
brilliant? he wins two primaries where dems can vote and the MSM likes him, and this is brilliant to you?
McCain is a code red moment away from cratering.
windansea on January 24, 2008 at 11:06 AM
I idea that Rudy is a liberal like McCain and Romney is ridiculous. He is the best on foreign policy. He will not be a suck to the Saudis like Pres Bush and his Sec of State Condi “Neville Chamberlain” Rice, and like I am sure Romeny will be because that is his history: Corporate internationalist.
McCain tries to come off tough but if he was president on Sept 10 2001 and had Khalid Sheik Muhammed in custody he would refuse to do what is necessary to stop the murders on 9/11. He also called the terrorist fatah leader, Abbas, a moderate.
And at least Rudy is honest and not spin machine like Romney with his ever changing views on abortion and gay rights and guns. We don’t need another liar in the Whitehouse, another Harvard MBA rich kid that is trying to buy the presidency like Romney is.
We need someone that is tough and smart and honest and Rudy is not perfect, but he certainly is tought and smart and honest.
georgealbert on January 24, 2008 at 11:42 AM
Rudy is honest? Give me a break. That is just an act. He is a politician through and through. He spins just like all the others, just wants you to think he doesn’t.

Re: Halley on January 24, 2008 at 10:15 AM
I think people are still in 9/11 denial.
We are doing better in Iraq, so they want someone who can continue that, but they don’t want someone who will aggressively pursue terrorists.
They are hoping the problem will just go away.
hatespam on January 24, 2008 at 1:14 PM
Lying and spinning aren’t quite one in the same. Rudy is WAYYYY tougher than the rest of those wimps on the Republican side. He’s the only candidate on both sides that I see using the bully pulpit like Reagan used to. Considering the way that so many of our politicans roll over for the Saudis, I at least have some faith that Rudy can’t be bought. Name another candidate, let alone politician, that kept people like Castro and Arafat out of the U.S.? You think Rudy would let Chavez or Ahmadinejad come to the U.S. and dump all over him? I think NOT!
Oh, and of course he doesn’t say stuff like this…
