Kucinich drops out, beams up

And so in the span of three days we lose Jeri Thompson and Elizabeth K.

Thank goodness Bubba’s still around to give us some first-lady eye candy.

Democrat Dennis Kucinich is abandoning his second, long-shot bid for the White House as he faces a tough fight to hold onto his other job — U.S. congressman…

Kucinich, 61, is facing four challengers in the Democratic congressional primary March 4, and earlier this week he made an urgent appeal on his Web site for funds for his re-election. Rival Joe Cimperman has been critical of Kucinich for focusing too much time outside of his district while campaigning for president…

Kucinich said he will not endorse another Democrat in the primary.

The pipe-dream candidacy dies but the pipe-dream impeachment lives on. Speaking of which, isn’t it high time to start speculating on when Kuky’s would-be running mate will be joining him back on the mother ship? The rEVOLution is eternal, of course, and a third-party run remains a distinct possibility but I’m talking about his stint as a Republican candidate. Is there any reason to trudge on after Super Ultra Mega Tuesday?

The article has him stating:

FACT
One day prior to Kucinich’s drop from the race a mysterious photo of a gaullum-esque creature trolling around on the surface of Mars was made public.
FACT
Shortly thereafter he drops from the race. Hmm..Kind of hard to run for the POTUS…if you’re living on MARS!
Coincidence?

I think not.

Lesson for potential POTUS candidates; you stand no chance if you marry way above your own looks.

MyImamToldMeToDoIt on January 24, 2008 at 5:29 PM

It would be poetic justice if his no-shot-of-winning Presidential campaign undermined his ability to get elected to Congress again. I guess all that free publicity to his district could have backfired.

I hope the Star Trak Enterprise realizes soon before
they enter the Adromeda galaxy that they dumped
Kucinich off on the wrong planet!

canopfor on January 24, 2008 at 6:03 PM

He finally found out what that UFO was. It was a blimp.

Big Orange on January 24, 2008 at 6:07 PM

Cimperman’s been pulling some good stunts here, like delivering a fruit basket to Mrs. Kucinich at home (Um, your husband’s never actually here, is he?) and a “Missing” poster to his campaign office.

Kucinich, pussy that he is, filed a complaint. No, wait, according to Democratic Underground, he was “forced to call Homeland Security on stalker/opponent.”

saint kansas on January 24, 2008 at 6:09 PM

Beam me up to the Blimp Scotty, there is no Ron Paul here!

Voting for this moron is the equivalent to stabbing yourself to see if it hurts.

leanright on January 24, 2008 at 6:43 PM

The rEVOLution is eternal, of course, and a third-party run remains a distinct possibility but I’m talking about his stint as a Republican candidate. Is there any reason to trudge on after Super Ultra Mega Tuesday?

Maybe not. There aren’t enough delegates available on SUMT to give any candidate a majority of delegates. So there’s a (faint) possibility that we won’t have a clear winner. I say if there is a clear winner, he’s out. If not, he trudges on as long as the money keeps rolling in. When he drops out, that would also be a good time to make a definitive third party bid or pass.

Mark Jaquith on January 24, 2008 at 6:55 PM

It’s a pity that the ad can’t emphasize how crazy Kucinich is, instead of how he missed his house duties because he was running for president.

Here’s my idea for an ad for Kucinich’s opponent. I would start the ad with a headline from Weekly World News and relate it to Kucinich. One good headline would be the batboy stories. Batboy could be redrawn to look more like Kucinich. (I’m aware the Weekely World News stopped publishing a few years ago, but people remember it.) I’d be sure to get something about Kucinich’s UFO sighting in. And a few of his wackier political policy positions. Obviously, the ad should be humorous. I think this would work because it close enough to the truth that it couldn’t dismissed as baseless, and it would be memorable.

thuja on January 24, 2008 at 7:00 PM

I predict Ron Paul will run as a third party candidate in November.

Seixon on January 24, 2008 at 7:07 PM

LMAO!

I swear, one of the reasons I keep on making multiple visits to Hot Air each day is to read the story headlines and framing ‘commentary’.

Man, I can’t believe no one else put that in here.

Gort! Get me another beer. Chop chop.

My question is: Will his wife stay with him now that he’s back to utter silliness an irrelevancy?

urbancenturion on January 25, 2008 at 12:02 AM

Kucinich is looking for impeachment in the wrong office. If he would clean the tin foil from his would find that the staff had left him a long time ago.

The public a short while later.

Let’s put a fork in Kucinich-he’s done.
