I live in Nashville, was raised in Boston, and would vote for Thompson as governor in a HEARTBEAT. Fred would’ve been re-elected to his senate seat had he not stuck to the promise he gave voters of “two terms and I’m out”.

Oh, just wanted to add that just the other night I was thinking “watch him run for TN governor now because he’s all fired up”… so I’m not surprised by this. I’ve read over and over again how he had just started to like the actual campaigning, he saw how much a true conservative was longed for, and he realized how he was the only true conservative in the race. I just don’t want to be jealous of Tennesseans if they get him as Governor (’specially when I’m here stuck with Blagojevich).

I am really turned off by all you New Yawk elitists who think we Southerners are a bunch of rubes. What makes you think we’re any more foolish then the voters in Iowa or New Hampshire? They saw through Fred’s fraud. What makes you think Tennesseans won’t see through it? They will realize he is a pro-choice federalist posing as a pro-lifer. They will be turned off by his lobbying activities and terrorist enabling. They will not appreciate his devotion to Spencer Abraham’s open border agenda. His Tennessee contributors will not forget how he stole their money after he dropped out of his last race by funneling the money through a PAC to his son. And the barefoot toothless banjo playing moonshiners will never forget how he relentlessly pursued the big bad Federal government’s war on their hooch. No. The Tennessee voters will not be fooled again.

She didn’t gut anything, she stood up for Texas land owners to have a say in how much of their land was taken by the feds and whether it was a physical or tech or combination of security barrier. Some ranchers in Texas rely on the Rio Grande to water their cattle. Last time I checked .. individual rights to ones own property was still a Republican core value.

Don’t run for re-election…. Fred beats the tar outta Nixon… Bond resigns for health reasons…. Fred! appoints Blunt to Bond’s seat…. Fred runs in ‘12 and crushes Hillary in a Reaganesque Defeat with Blunt as VP… Blunt creams Chelsea in ‘20….

Yeah, I can’t wait to get Fast Eddie out of office. Sad part is, Lynn Swann was probably a worse campaigner than Fred. Beyond that, he didn’t really have a good grasp on issues, dude was a really, really weak candidate.
