Good news for Cowboy fans!

Two bits of good news for fans of America’s Team. First, Hitler gets to wear that TO jersey with pride because the NFL’s most egotistical WR is staying in Dallas.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones plans to pay Terrell Owens’ $3 million roster bonus, which means the All-Pro wide receiver will be back for the final season of his three-year, $25 million contract.

“Yes, we are going to have Terrell back,” Jones said Tuesday at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.

Jones added that a contract extension for Owens is something he would consider “down the line.”

Owens finished with 81 catches for 1,355 yards and a team-record 15 touchdown receptions.

Sorry Cowboy haters. TO seems to have grown up.

Want some more good news (or bad, depending on what you think of the Boys)? Tony Romo has dumped the blonde.

Dallas Cowboys star Tony Romo has reportedly dumped Jessica Simpson, who was widely blamed for costing him a shot at the Super Bowl.

“Tony is now starting to blame her himself,” a pal told OK! magazine. “Before dating Jessica, he was Texas’ golden boy. Now he’s become a joke.”

A few days after the Giants bounced the Cowboys from the playoffs, Romo called the “Dukes of Hazzard” star to tell her their romance was over.

“He said he thought it was better if they went back to being friends,” a pal of hers said.

Why couldn’t they have had this discussion before the Giants debacle?

Romo can’t win the big game!

lorien1973 on January 24, 2008 at 12:00 PM

If Romo is blaming his poor performance on his girlfriend he is a bigger no talent ass clown that I had thought.

syndicate on January 24, 2008 at 12:02 PM

Too bad the cowboys don’t have a clutch qb like Eli Manning.

Shtetl G on January 24, 2008 at 12:02 PM

I have no idea what 1080i is, but I wan it!

Over the phone? Classy!

MikeZero on January 24, 2008 at 12:02 PM

Tony Romo must be gay.

Gregor on January 24, 2008 at 12:04 PM

Attaboy, Tony, blame the GIRL for your stinkburger performance.

As a Giants fan I want to thank Jessica for hexing the QB and I want to thank Tony for being stupid enough to dump her AFTER he choked against the G-Men and not before.

HAPPY DAYS !!!

Always Right on January 24, 2008 at 12:05 PM

Yes, yes, blame Jessica for his lack of skill.

Why couldn’t they have had this discussion before the Giants debacle?

I don’t understand….didn’t the Giants WIN?

Jessica,

I am not a QB, I don’t not have an iphone, and I will not blame you when the Vikings lose.

I don’t understand it, wasn’t he the first to be with Simpson? That’s what she told him…

I guess Romo just couldn’t perform in any arena

Yeah, he should have just sent her a text.

‘Bout time, Romo. Have a good season next year and maybe you can stave off all the jokes that were about to hitch up permanently to your name.

Tony Romo.

Did Romo have to dump her through Jessica’s dad when he was on the phone? I mean, her dad did chaperone them down in Mexico like they were still in high school. Too funny.

Tony Romo must be gay.

Maybe she’s just high maintenance. After all, she is a woman. Har har.

Enrique on January 24, 2008 at 12:10 PM

Single-season team record for TDs belongs to Romo, and it’s a team that has Staubach and Aikman in its history. Lack of skill? Not.

Bryan on January 24, 2008 at 12:10 PM

What does this mean?

Beard = slang for woman that accompanies a closeted gay man in public so his sexuality won’t be questioned.

Enrique on January 24, 2008 at 12:11 PM

Maybe she’s just high maintenance.

Enrique on January 24, 2008 at 12:10 PM

I’m sorry. Does it matter? I’ll be happy to provide her with a lifetime of free maintenance.

Gregor on January 24, 2008 at 12:12 PM

That’s why he’s not at Brady’s level yet (and it pains me to say that, because I don’t like Brady at all). Romo can’t handle a hot celebrity girlfriend and still play at a high level. Very lame.

Gregor on January 24, 2008 at 12:16 PM

thirteen28 on January 24, 2008 at 12:12 PM

There, you have a point. Then again, no one but Brady is at Brady’s level, and it’s possible that no one’s ever been at that level before.

Bryan on January 24, 2008 at 12:17 PM

I’m sorry. Does it matter? I’ll be happy to provide her with a lifetime of free maintenance.

Sure, it’s easy to say since none of us have a shot at Madamoiselle Simpson, so we can fantasize about what a great girlfriend she would be. Every hot girl seems like a dream come true until you start spending time with her. But once the flaws start to reveal themselves, the illusion is shattered.

Of course, I’m sure plenty of women that have dated me could say the same thing. I’m a great guy until you get to know me. :)

Enrique on January 24, 2008 at 12:17 PM

Remember guys……no matter how good looking they are….there’s a guy out there tired of putting up with her crap.

I think he got tired of the reeeeeediculous publicity.

RobG on January 24, 2008 at 12:20 PM

I’m sorry, but Jessica Simpson wasn’t dating the entire offensive line that promptly collapsed in the 4th quarter of that game and let the Giants ferocious D-line chase Romo all over the field. It’s hard to complete passes when you’re running for your life and there’s blue jerseys all over you.

Romo has to take responsibility for any loss, but that certainly wasn’t his fault by any means.

TheGoblinKing on January 24, 2008 at 12:20 PM

This whole blaming Jessica thing is ridiculous. Can it be possible that Romo just isn’t that consistent or good (yet)?

You can’t blame the Giants loss on Simpson. Blame on that hack of a coach, Wade Phillips. He didn’t have their team prepared. And the Boys didn’t execute.

If you Cowboy fans want to ignore the reality of having a bad coach and a young QB who shrinks in the big game, and blame it on a pop star you can feel free to. My question is what happens next season when she isn’t there to kick around?

krabbas on January 24, 2008 at 12:20 PM

Ridiculous publicity is not the same thing as “her crap.”

If he broke up with her because he was being made fun of, and that’s what this appears to be … he’s an amazingly weak man.

Gregor on January 24, 2008 at 12:21 PM

maybe i can get her on the rebound

Defector01 on January 24, 2008 at 12:22 PM

I second the motion of more Simpson pics…. not only is she a Cowboy killer, she’s mighty easy on the eyes.

I probably couldn’t handle her for too long, though. When it comes down to it, I need someone with intelligence….

But she’s still easy on the eyes!

Vanceone on January 24, 2008 at 12:22 PM

That being said, and I usually don’t go for blondes, she’s really cute. It was this pic that swayed me one day:

TheGoblinKing on January 24, 2008 at 12:24 PM

If he broke up with her because he was being made fun of, and that’s what this appears to be … he’s an amazingly weak man.

A final breaking point came when Romo told Simpson he wouldn’t move to L.A. - and she responded there was no way she could leave Tinseltown.

“It was the moment he realized it wasn’t going to work with Jessica in the long term,” the pal told OK!.

Besides, he’s not married to her. If she effects his happiness in any way, why keep her? Oh, just for more misery. Yay!

True. To Romo, it’s not like he’s unable to find another supermodel by tomorrow morning.

Gregor on January 24, 2008 at 12:29 PM

Um…ok….so Jessica is to blame for the fact that her DAD talked Romo into going to Cabo (and worse, taking him along) during the week off TR should have stayed in Texas to a) watch film, b) chant the Om, and c) eat hot wings at the Dallas Hooters with his linemen and receivers.

Ooookay….

Look we’ve all ceded decision-making authority to our John Thomas at some point, but it doesnt take a mad genius to know that a week before a divisional playoff game you MUST win is NOT one of those times, especially after you screwed the pooch last year.

No one is to blame for Romo’s stupid decision ‘cept Romo.

Wow. Amazing the difference in taste between men. I would not even look twice at Underwood over Simpson. She’s cute, but more the great looking girl next door type. Simpson is a Goddess.

But then again, I had a friend long ago who wouldn’t look at any woman under 200lbs. To each his own.

Shtetl G writes: “Too bad the cowboys don’t have a clutch qb like Eli Manning.”

One post season does not make a career, besides, let’s look at where Tony was drafted vs. Eli. Oh, wait, TONY WASN’T and ELI CRIED to get in NY where he has been most known for being UNDERACHIEVING!

thirteen28 writes: “That’s why he’s not at Brady’s level yet (and it pains me to say that, because I don’t like Brady at all). Romo can’t handle a hot celebrity girlfriend and still play at a high level. Very lame.”

yea, Brady gets someone pregnant and dumps her, real class! you know, everyone said he wouldn’t come back from the botched snap last year and he took them to a 13-3 record. As Bryan has pointed out, the officiating was HORRIBLE and the o-line couldn’t block in the second half. The loss wasn’t Tony’s fault and if you think otherwise, you simply cannot be trusted as an analyst (as Hugh likes to say.)

Dhornertx on January 24, 2008 at 12:38 PM

How many passes did Jessica drop?

Yup. Against that patchwork secondary, Crayton, TO and Glenn should have all had career days. Heck, add in Hurd and Witten and they should have been able to run up the score. But the O line stunk in the second half and the WRs all had skillet hands. Romo put the ball within reach when he could get the pass off. The loss wasn’t his fault.

I agree with everything you said there except for two minor notes. Romo rolls out of the pocket more quickly then most quarterbacks and when his O-line looked the worst was when he getting happy feet there near the end of the game. It’s harder for the line if they aren’t confident that the QB is going to be in the pocket ’cause the can’t just keep the guy on the outside.

I thought Romo taking the sack on the last drive instead of throwing it away was a drive killer, and that was all him. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him show frustration before like he did on those last few drives.

Spirit of 1776 on January 24, 2008 at 12:46 PM

Gartrip on January 24, 2008 at 12:55 PM

Bryan on January 24, 2008 at 12:49 PM

I don’t blame him for the frustration either, but I am saying that a team feeds of the QB. The calm and confident usually win. I know that the situation was higher stakes, but it was a different Romo out there then we’ve seen in similar situations, Buffalo for ex.

It’s especially a problem for QB’s because when they try to force something, bad things usually happen. That’s what Romo did at the end. Instead of throwing the ball away and trusting his teammates to get open on the next play, he made a bad decision which they then couldn’t overcome. There were plenty of chances to beat NY at the end if they had played even keel, I think.

Spirit of 1776 on January 24, 2008 at 12:55 PM

He gets paid to be a leader. He didn’t lead. He threw tantrums and interceptions. Best part is, he’ll be looking over his shoulder again next year, hoping he doesn’t blow it for a third time when the chips are down. And, we all know what happens when that gets into a QB’s head. Deeelicious.

Jessica Simpson can take my post seriously any time. *rim shot*

I fail to see how any of this has anything to do with the New England Patriots.

Who cares?

The majority of football fans want nothing more than to see the Patriots get beat. If the Giants should beat them, the Giants could be the new “America’s Team.”

a few points on this:

-romo has so many team records because staubach and aikman had 2 of the best running backs (and defenses) in nfl history and didn’t have to throw over 500 times a year. granted, MB3 is a beast and i wouldn’t want to try to tackle him, but dallas doesn’t have a running game that make teams bring 8 into the box.

-we’re hearing about romo blaming jessica for the loss from an unnamed “friend” in OK! magazine. let’s be real here.

-maybe romo dumped jessica because he had an “i’m keith hernandez” moment. “you know what? i’m tony romo. i can have any hot chick i want.”

-maybe jessica was terrible in the sack (no pun intended). no doubt she’s a 10, but maybe she sucked (again, no pun) at BJ’s, or only wanted missionary.

-and it took brett farve until his 4th full year as a starter (and 5th overall), and 3 straight playoff losses to dallas before he won a super bowl. romo just finished his *first* full year as a starter (2nd overall).

Can’t stand her singing, have never been introduced to her “acting” and her family is rather creepy (qouth the father: “Hey boys! She’s got double D’s!”). That being said, if she needs a shoulder to cry on I’ve got two.

Just sayin’.

Thank you GoblinKing for making my day with that pic!

On another note, do you think if he texted her, she would have been able to read it? While being VERY easy on the eyes, she’s not the sharpest tool in the shed, guys.

So, what did the NFC championship and the Romo-Simpson relationship have in common?

They both ended sadly when the QB couldn’t penetrate the end zone.

thank you.

All things also said about Peyton, who is generally accepted as one of the top 2 or 3 QB’s in the game. Romo will be fine.

Think about the media coverage next year if the Cowboys get another shot. Wall to wall commentary wondering if Tony will do it again. These guys thrive on their news clippings. How’s Tony gonna handle the pressure of everyone who can read or write having an opinion on his ability to handle pressure since he flunked twice before? It’ll be more of a story than the game itself. And, so more pressure builds. What fun!
