Dear Republican Party, please give me a candidate who will do something about immigration in the general election. Because if you don’t, there’s just not going to be much reason to vote Republican…unless Hillary is the Democratic nominee.

What the American people should remember instead about the past couple of years is that McCain constantly visited the troops in Iraq and was right all along about the strategy to be employed there, first in criticizing the prior light footprint strategy as leaving too few boots on the ground and then in vocally supporting thte surge and General Petraeus at a time the Democrats were declaring defeat and most Republicans were either looking for a way out (e.g., Senator Lugar) or looking at their feet (e.g., Romney). How many times has Romney visited the troops in Iraq? ZERO.

What the American people should know is that the most qualified person to be the next Commander in Chief is McCain. When it comes to military matters, national security and foreign policy, McCain is unequaled, which is why he has all the endorsements he has — among others, John McCain also has the endorsements of former Secretaries of State George Schultz, Henry Kissinger, Lawrence Eagleburger and Alexander Haig, former Navy Secretaries John Lehman and William Ball, General Norman Schwartzkof, former national security officials Bud MacFarlane, James Woolsey, Tom Kean, Tom Ridge and Robert Inman, former Cabinet Secretaries (outside State) James Schlesinger, Jack Kemp, Robert Mosbacher and Peter Peterson, Senators Sam Brownback, Richard Burr, Tom Coburn, John Thune, John Warner, John Kyl, Pete Domenici, Trent Lott, Lindsey Graham, Joe Lieberman and Gordon Smith, former Senators Phil Gramm, Alphone D’Amato, Dan Coats, Warren Rudman, Mike DeWine, Peter Fitzgerald and Slade Gordon. That is a conservative group of people who have carried public responsibilities.

What the American people should have in mind is that John McCain is pro-life and has never run for office (unlike Romney) as a pro-choice, pro-gay rights candidate, that McCain has a 82% approval in his voting record from the ACU and that no one is more of a fiscal hawk on cuttiing spending than McCain. McCain’s economic proposal stresses making the Bush tax cuts permanent while cutting federal spending, cutting the corporate tax rate and giving R&D credits to enable businesses to prosper and create real jobs.

Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin have just lost it completely. To use the name of one of Michelle’s books, they have become “Unhinged.”

Imagine an Obama delivery of the Republican platform. I can dream, right.

Well, he’s still young.

I think that a higher percentage of Republicans want to vote for a black guy, but will not do because of his politics.

I think a higher percentage of Dems will vote for him because he is black, regardless of what his politics are.

Maybe we’ll get lucky down the road and he’ll become independent or Rep. If he loses, I would love to see some influential Republicans cozy up to him and start whispering in his ear.

RC, I agree completely with your first point, as the Michael Steele candidacy showed. I call it voluntary affirmative action; a great percentage of Americans want to see an end to areas of our society where minority citizens have not gone.

Blacks who have achieved extraordinary success in the GOP and conservative America have been celebrated greatly — Clarence Thomas, Colin Powell, Condi Rice was adored (until it became impossible to do so with a straight face), Ward Connerly, Thomas Sowell.

But I have no use whatsoever for Obama and his socialism, no matter what race he is. If your point is wouldn’t it be great if he had a Road to Damascus conversion? Hell, yes it would. I’d love to see him spouting Friedman economic theory and the Bush doctrine of preemption and Ron Paul’s plan to abolish the Federal Department of Education and his plan to reform Social Security with privatization and a flat tax.

But, dude — he’s a socialist.

On one hand you have Bill and Hill who want the Liberal party to stay as is,lock step,don’t get out of line,
we are the only party that can take care of you.

Obama on the otherhand is saying I want change,no I won’t
stay in line,I will not lock step with you,and we are tired
of the Liberal party status quo,we had fifty years of this
Liberal party saying we can’t do it.

So Obama wants a new direction for the Liberal Party,
and for Hillary and especially Slick Willy who wants a
third term,its not going to happen.

But the problem with this process isn’t with any of the candidates, it’s with the 2 party system. You all better pray that McCain doesn’t get the nomination because what on earth would you talk about if you had to express support for an R as a conservative?

Do you start supporting a third party instead? I think that the African Americans are ready to start their own third party candidacy. Obama could probably run and win third party. One question. . . if there are 4 parties running, does that mean that there are 2 third party candidates?

One thing that I’ll be grateful for if McCain wins the nomination is that the country will be looking to end the monopoly of the two party system in favor of a government that actually represents its people.

For some reason, I think she will choose Bill Richardson as a running mate. He seemed to suck up to her at the debates.

I think Rush is right on, but my slant is Obama took the white vote in Iowa and is well liked across racial lines. If the Clinton southern strategy is to inflame the white democratic vote it may backfire. If Wolfson or McCauliff do infer this after SC, the black vote is lost and the white vote may not all go to HRC because of her negatives. Food for thought……
