I’m surprised Aguilar wasn’t fined for getting in the way of their truck… we already have two BP agents in jail for defending themselves

Opinionnation on January 23, 2008 at 10:20 PM

No, they are in jail for lying about what they did and covering it up. Don't get me wrong, I believe they were justified in shooting him and should NOT be in jail for that. What they should have gotten was whatever sentence a police officer who lied about his actions while preventing a crime would get. I am ALL for a fence, deportation, stoppage of ALL benefits (that you and I and every other American pay for) NO MORE ANCHOR BABIES, no chain migration, harsher sentences for those caught committing a crime, no stupid half-assed 'path to citizenship' for those who are here illegally, and every other solution to this problem. What I am not for is two BPAs who have the potential to undermine what all the others are doing. Had they not lied about their actions, would the piece of dirt they arrested actually be in jail?

BowHuntingTexas...Shhhhhhh, you're not supposed to talk about it.
Did ya hear about the Mexican 'officials' coming to Arizona, recently, telling the gov't there not to crack down on employers who hire illegal aliens because, (brace yourselves), the infra-structure in Mexico can't handle the influx of their own citizens! Imagine that! The chutzpah of these people! They act like there really IS a NAU! S/off.

I cannot express the amount of anger I feel right now at the officials in the Mexican government. Their "extradition treaties" are an outrage, and their aiding and abetting the illegals is terrible.

My prayers and sympathies go out to the family of this slain border patrol agent. May he rest in peace.

After this Mexican steered directly at Border Patrol Agent Luis Aguilar, not steering to avoid him but straight at him to hit and kill him, Montes drove straight back into Mexico.
Why ???Because there is NO FENCE. NONE AT ALL. He drove across dirt, maybe even a damn road to get away.
.
I don't think a virtual fence or 100 stealthy aircraft with digital video or 1000 cameras on poles could have stopped this crime.
.
WE NEED A FENCE ALONG THE ENTIRE BORDER.
A REAL DUAL LAYER (minimum) FENCE.

Highhopes has it right. We’ve got a situation here in North Carolina where an illegal alien murdered a person and then ran back home to Mexico. The DA has already said that they won’t push for the death penalty because otherwise Mexico won’t extradite. The best the victim’s family can hope for is that this guy get life without parole.

Maybe, NC wouldn't have that problem if NC didn't hand out driver's license like Gideons hand out Bibles.

He has been trying to find a way to bring people in to America,
R2B, I do appreciate your sensitivity and fairness, but i do not feel sorry for him. America has made his "people" suffer, so it's his job to bring in more?
This is not the answer. No one should "bring" anyone anywhere. Follow the legal procedure to come here legally on your own.

I am saying, if Mexico sees the bigger picture, they will sacrifice this one to keep allowing the millions in each year.

Well, that would be how some people with brains would think...but why sacrifice anyone, when you can get what you want without the sacrifice?

What,I do not believe this story. Immigrants come here to find a better life, they are not criminals.
Another story created by the anti-Mexican bigots. Let's wait until he is deported (and he won't be because he is innocent, and Mexico does not export innocent people) and goes through due process, before convicting him.
After all, he has 6 sisteres, 7 brothers, a sick and dying mom, his dad was killed by rogue American drug agents years ago. He has been trying to find a way to bring people in to America, so they do not have to suffer the way America has made him and his family suffer for all these years.
Just thought I would clear this up, there are always <strike>two</strike> <strike>three</strike> multiple sides to a story written by our liberal press.

Hmmm. Mexican officials arresting Mexicans who kill Americans on the US side of the border and American police in El Paso, TX, protecting Mexican officials on the US side of the border.

I'd almost say there's a North American Union going on here.

Is life in prison really an option? A few days ago, I was watching a Fox News report on Cesar Laurean (that Mexican-born U.S. Marine who murdered the pregnant fellow Marine, Maria Lauterbach, burned her body in his backyard, then had a party). FNC reported that not only does the U.S.' extradition treaty with Mexico rule out the death penalty, it also makes it very difficult to impose a life sentence on the criminal who is extradited from Mexico back to the U.S. (FNC didn't say under what circumstances, if any, a life sentence would be permissible).

I don't know what the maximum criminal sentence is in Mexico. In Canada, the most a criminal can get is 25 years.

Dr. Charles, there's many more a'comin. The Clintons, Brracko or McCain will not build a fence. Get used to longer lines in hospitals, as more close, and more over crowded schools, in addition to higher taxes to pay for free illegal immigrant benfits. How's your spanish Doc?

This guy will get some cheesy lawyer (courtesy of La Raza or LULAC), who will demand that the State produce the murder weapon; i.e. the Hummer. After the State fails to produce the murder weapon, (which by this time the vehicle in question has met the same fate as a Drug Snitch) the State will have to let him go for a lack of evidence.

If this guy spends any time in an American prison, I'd be shocked.

Aguilar should have just shot at the hummer, the law considers it a deadly weapon. Of course Mexico would then claim the agent was just killing a mexican national.

I’m not gonna call some soldier who’s fighting in Iraq today and tell him I’m gonna deport his mother

Good thing it's not the job of a Senator to call the mother of two young children to tell her that their dad just got killed by a human trafficker.

Rank hath its privileges.

It's a good thing we're set to nominate a Republican who will tackle the immigration issue so well. Just like our current President. The majority of Republicans sure have their priorities straight.

Sarcasm aside, I wonder what the recruitment rate for border agents is? It must be pretty low these days.

Highhopes has it right. We've got a situation here in North Carolina where an illegal alien murdered a person and then ran back home to Mexico. The DA has already said that they won't push for the death penalty because otherwise Mexico won't extradite. The best the victim's family can hope for is that this guy get life without parole.

I’m surprised Aguilar wasn’t fined for getting in the way of their truck… we already have two BP agents in jail for defending themselves

I am saying, if Mexico sees the bigger picture, they will sacrifice this one to keep allowing the millions in each year.

That's not the way they roll. We are talking about a NATIONAL GOVERNMENT that publishes comic books teaching people how to avoid the border patrol and has no problem issuing "official" documents to illegals. The only thing that will change the dynamic is to cut off the billions of gringo dollars that flow into the Mexican economy from illegals supporting the folks back home.
