Hillary Clinton has previously told us how we should not be able to buy “violent” video games for our own good, and yet so-called non-intrusive libertarian types like Glenn Reynolds would vote for Hillary before *any* Republican. Go figure.

To be fair I think Mitt Romney also said something about ‘violent’ video games sold to teens or something. I kinda thought that was the parent’s job, not governments, but i guess it really does take a village (a euphemism for elected elite telling us what to do).

I think it should be noted, that although Hollywood is missing the boat on what Americans want to watch, the game studios are not.

Call of Duty 4 is a great example of giving people what they want, and at 500Mill+ gross it is thumping most of the movies.

And it is a fantastic game.

After 2 full years in Iraq, I have to disagree that COD represents the middle east with anything near reality; but that doesn’t mean it isn’t fun to play.

Still, all of the insurgents wearing helmets and vests and boots etc did make me laugh. As did the giant metal trash dumpsters that were everywhere. So many other little things like that, but you know, if you haven’t been there, you’d never notice, and I’m guessing not many game designers have been there, :)

If you’re talking FPS, I’d agree that Bioshock was the best one of 2007, but that’s because it had a fantastic storyline and breathtaking graphics. COD4 is my #2, because the storyline / graphics aren’t quite up to that of Bioshock. That takes nothing from it, though, COD4 is an AMAZING game.

And yes, the multiplayer is fantastic. Ridiculously addictive. IMO, it blows Halo 3 multiplayer totally out of the water (I’ve barely played Halo 3′s MP, because I do not even feel that it can compete). There’s so many challenges and weapons to unlock, it has an insane replay value. I’m only a few points away from becoming a Brigadier General.

CoD4 is fun, but the ranking system is stupid. For example, it isn’t until you are a Lt Col until you can use the HK G36. When you become a Sgt of some type, you get to use the M4! Yay!

I hate martyr and the “noob tube” m203 grenade launcher. Its effective, but lazy.

Try playing something other than a first person shooter for once.

I’m afraid for the future of gaming.

Having said that, CoD4 is definitely the best FPS game this year, mainly because the 1 player and the online multiplayer experiences are both outstanding. Usually it’s one or the other.

COD 4 is an outstanding game. Since my divorce, Xbox Live allows for “fun” long-distance times with my son—rather than those awkward “How are you?” phone calls. Our preference is by far, the Tom Clancy games, as they are more “real life”…no aliens and u cannot sprout wings. The Tom Clancy Spinter Cell series(spy game) are really good…but the best for multiplayer game play is Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas. By the way, the Rainbow Six Vegas SEQUEL will be out in March.

Okay, I’m a big kid. But these games clearly were NOT designed by liberals….as there is NO negotiating….lol. I think a fun topic would be Liberal Game Titles! If any of u guys are interested, I’m “CarmineTheFlea” on XBox Live.

Mass Effect was fun the first time through; I’m disappointed in its replay value; Oblivion still has many more hours of fun in it.

It stinks that as a PS3 owner, I can’t get any Halo or Mass Effect because they are XBox360 exclusives.

I might have to check out COD4 though. I’m not too much into the multiplayer aspect of it, and I had read that the single player was pretty short… but it sounds like it’s still worth it.

This might be my next game purchase.

COD4 is the best right now and i was not happy to hear they were going away from a WWII theme. But they did it, it is an awsome game….If you like the WWII theme, Brothers in Arms is coming…hang in there.
