Video: Adam Sandler is Israel’s greatest Mossad agent
posted at 11:48 am on January 22, 2008 by Allahpundit
“Munich” meets “Borat” meets “Coming to America” meets an endless array of gags about mincing male hairdressers. Too bad. A terror comedy with Billy Madison as the west’s secret weapon would have been genius but this makes it look like a subplot in service to the much more important task of letting Sandler act comically flamboyant.
The good news? This one’s unlikely to devolve into moral equivalence as the subplot heats up. Exit question: What was the last truly memorable comedy he did? I liked “50 First Dates” but that’s not considered a true Sandler classic the way Madison, “Happy Gilmore,” and “The Wedding Singer” are. Maybe “Big Daddy”? That was 1999, dude. Ha ha looks like a goofy one. But I good to all A. Sandler movies just to support a conservative.

I haven’t said this in a while, but that looks funny.

Man, what is the bug up your butt about this film, AP? I laugh every time I see the trailer. I haven’t paid money to see an Adam Sandler movie in the theater yet, but I’m intending to do that this time around.

If he ends up kicking some jihadi ass, all to the good.
profitsbeard on January 22, 2008 at 11:56 AM
“The Water Boy” was his one and only.
Hening on January 22, 2008 at 12:04 PM
I thought Anger Management had its moments.
HebrewToYou on January 22, 2008 at 12:04 PM
Hey, the Vulcan nerve pinch! Excellent.
kc8ukw on January 22, 2008 at 12:07 PM
The last great Sandler movie was “The Wedding Singer,” if only for “Linda’s Song” and the fact that it was set in the 1980s.
Although “The Waterboy” was pretty good, too.

This audio skit always makes me laugh, because it reminds me so much of the progress of blog threads.

Waterboy and Happy Gilmore were classics.
BlackCapitalist on January 22, 2008 at 12:25 PM
Happy Gilmore and The Wedding Singer are the only two really funny Sandler movies. The Waterboy was atrocious. The only memorable line came from Schneider in the form of “YOU CAN DO EEEET!”
I like Sandler, but his movies are all basically the same and really, not all that funny.
robblefarian on January 22, 2008 at 12:27 PM
Nah, I gotta go with the “Hebrew Hammer”…

The hair stylist bit is stolen from Edward Scissorhands.

Seems pretty good to me. I’ll see it.

Punch Drunk Love. The scene with the crowbar. Nuff said.
spmat on January 22, 2008 at 12:35 PM
This looks pretty darned funny if you ask me.
“Welcome to Hezbollah phone line. For terrorist supply, press one” (beep!)
If it spreads some positive PR for Israel, even better. They deserve it.
TheGoblinKing on January 22, 2008 at 12:40 PM
Sandler’s high water was when he took his SNL Opera Man character to the 9/11 benefit for NYFD/PD.
Good Stuff. since then, not so much.
That benefit show is famous for all the PD/FD guys in the audience booing Hillary preaching to the crowd about understanding what we did to make them hate us etc. that part is edited out of the DVD available for sale. funny how that works.
It also features a once-in-a-lifetime performance by Billy Joel, who i never particularly liked or disliked with the exception of a few FM radio classics. But his singing of the song “Miami 2017″ was electrifying. so there’s that.
Mike D. on January 22, 2008 at 12:42 PM
I dunno, I thought Anger Management was pretty good. Sandler is best when he’s playing the crazy/angry dude though, like in Happy Gilmore or Billy Madison.

robblefarian,
Oh come ON dude!
“Bobbah…you ain’t got whut dey call..da social skills”
“Did dey evah find dat gorilla what ecks-scaped from da zoo and knocked you in da head?”
“No momma. Da soyche continues.”
“Tacklin fuel…tacklin fuel”
“An I like Vicki, an she like me back! And she showed me her boobies and I like dem too!”
Oh god…sharing the cups because they didn’t have enough to go around…Kathy Bates referencing anything she didn’t like to ‘Da Devil!’…Jerry Reed damn near stealing the movie (along with Bates) as the evil Coach Beaulieu…the ‘towelboy’? That was a seriously funny movie!

The character he played in Spanglish was pretty good but in the “he can do more than Happy Gilmore” kind of performance. Personally, I give him credit for staying in the limelight for all these years- he must be doing something right.

Adam Sandler?! High school sophomores all over the world will be atwitter.

Shave and a lap dance…., two bits!
Kini on January 22, 2008 at 1:27 PM
Maybe I just don’t get the subtle nuance of his performance, but I can’t stand him..
jdpaz on January 22, 2008 at 1:30 PM
Sandler has surprised me (for the good) a number of times. His movies aren’t deep, or thoughtful, or subtle, but damn, they are entertaining. I like him. Happy G was a great movie, and where else are you going to see John McInroe (with Mr. Deeds) egging cars in NYC? I’ll buy a ticket.
iurockhead on January 22, 2008 at 1:37 PM
Not a big fan of his type of comedy, Anger Management wasn’t bad, a few others had their moments but the trailer was funny…i’d sit thru that one…didn’t say i’d pay 10 bucks for it tho.
Maybe he’s maturing in his work.
oldernslower on January 22, 2008 at 1:59 PM
I thought The Longest Yard had some comedic times in it. Mr Deeds was good also.
Waterboy was definetely one of his best.
Once in a while I’ll pop in his CD with Toll Booth Willy in it. That CD had some good stuff.
I’ll probably wait for this movie to come out on DVD, since I’ve only been to the Theater twice in the last 10 years. (Flags of our Fathers was the last one I went to see)
Fires1 on January 22, 2008 at 2:03 PM
I’ve been occupationally amused by Sandler but I actually find him more compelling as a dramatic actor (see: Punch Drunk Love)
PolitiNOOB on January 22, 2008 at 2:21 PM
he certainly understood that role and played it well, but i wonder if he has any range beyond that.
jummy on January 22, 2008 at 2:34 PM
looks funny I will see it when it comes over here (I live in Israel) I bet we will get a kick out of it here.
sko17 on January 22, 2008 at 3:30 PM
Isn’t this a repost?
Nonfactor on January 22, 2008 at 3:40 PM
Chuck & Larry was an embarassing paean to gay marriage. Sandler’s supposed conservatism is about as deep as his movies.
thegreatbeast on January 22, 2008 at 4:03 PM
Naw, when the nuke went off you were thrown back in time. Now go save the cheerleader!
- The Cat
P.S. I’m just afraid in the end they’ll find (according to libs) that they’re not all that different and have a group hug in the end.
MirCat on January 22, 2008 at 4:06 PM
Spanglish is my absolute favorite. It’s the only one of his that I feel I can recommend to people.
Sko17…gam ani b’yisrael! ayfo ata gar?
tikvah on January 22, 2008 at 4:31 PM
I still haven’t watched Chuck & Larry because I hear it turns almost towards gay advocacy at some point, which is funny given that there was an old Conan rerun on last night in which Sandler was on to plug “Click”, and joked how he sent a picture of his new baby girl to his friends back east with a not “Told ya I wasn’t queer”, and dropped a few more “q-bombs”.
At any rate, I’m a fan of most of his stuff… though I’ve never really cared much for the Wedding Singer. It’s okay, but I’m not sure why it’s lumped in with the “classics”. Also, there was some stupid movie with (I think) one of the Wayans brothers that was retarded.
But I’ve even liked his stuff he’s done outside of his element. Spanglish was pretty good, The Longest Yard was great, and Punch Drunk Love was f-ing awesome! I haven’t seen that Reign Over Me Yet, but looks like it has potential.
Anyway, off to watch this clip…

I’m not thrilled with Adam Sadlers work, but I got to admit
I’m so there,Mossad agent,Hair dresser,Hesbollah hot line.
Boy this is against the Liberal grain of political correctness, this looks good!

Mr. Deeds was pretty good.

Am I the only person who couldn’t stand Punch Drunk Love?
Theophile on January 22, 2008 at 9:01 PM
Couldn’t even sit through all of Billy Madison. Terrible. But I suppose it looks a lot better after not being able to sit through all of Chuck & Larry..
Reaps on January 22, 2008 at 10:23 PM
Ok, maybe this doesn’t count, Adam Sandler wasn’t actually in “Grandma’s Boy”, but he was… producer/director, one or the other, not sure which actually, this was the funniest movie I think I’ve seen.
4shoes on January 22, 2008 at 10:38 PM
Punch Drunk Love is my favorite Sandler movie. Then 50 First Dates. Both are brilliant in different ways.
Agrippa2k on January 22, 2008 at 11:57 PM
can-not-WAIT for this one! i am a huge sandler fan since the very beginning! :-)
my personal fave has to be “50 first dates”, too. although i must say that “mr. deeds” was a great one as well. “chuck and larry” was the worst by far, and not because it “advocates homosexuality” (i guess there are some homophobes in here; that’s too bad…) but because it was shallow, poorly written, and just perpetuated tired stereotypes about gays.
on another note, sandler’s production company has put out some great flicks, too (you will recognize the regular roster of guys that show up in all of adam’s movies). “grandma’s boy” is right up there with “harold & kumar” at the top of the list of great 21st century stoner movies!
homesickamerican on January 23, 2008 at 12:40 AM
A terror comedy with Billy Madison as the west’s secret weapon would have been genius but this makes it look like a subplot in service to the much more important task of letting Sandler act comically flamboyant.
So, what’s your point? Of course the movie was made so he can do his schtick. And how exactly would a Billy Madison-type character work as a Mossad super-agent?
