Video: Chuck Norris says McCain is too old to be president
posted at 2:05 pm on January 21, 2008 by Bryan
Well, I guess Mike Huckabee can kiss the AARP vote goodbye.
You know what I want to see? A staredown between Chuck Norris, Wilfred Brimley, Jon Voight and Fred Thompson. Notice which candidate doesn’t have to send out a surrogate tough guy, because he is his own tough guy.
Also, it just occurred to me that Mitt Romney doesn’t have a tough guy supporter. Better get on that.
Update: Well, I stand corrected. Romney does have a tough guy supporter — America’s toughest sheriff. That’ll work.
A controversial Arizona sheriff known for making his inmates wear pink underwear and eat green bologna turned his back on his state’s favored presidential candidate, opting instead to join forces with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
The Romney camp appointed Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio Monday as honorary chair of the campaign in the state of Arizona.
“The first time I met the governor at a private meeting, first thing he said was ‘How’s the pink underwear doing?’” Arpaio told FOXNews.com Wednesday.
Romney asked Arpaio to join his campaign in early January after several meetings, said Arpaio, who has made his name with a tough stance on immigration in the nation’s fourth largest county.

How old is McCain? 72?
How old was Reagan when taking office?
amerpundit on January 21, 2008 at 2:09 PM
Too bad for Mitt; I just checked, and apparently Wilford is a Mormon.
Frozen Tex on January 21, 2008 at 2:11 PM
He’s absolutely right too.
If he starts at 72, he’ll potentially have to serve till he’s 80. That’s entirely too risky. His mental capacity will be diminished severely.
AlexB on January 21, 2008 at 2:11 PM
Not smart going into FL.

Heh. How could I forget?
By the way, do you know who Chuck’s quote helps…?
Bryan on January 21, 2008 at 2:13 PM
He does have a point imagine the 72 year old McCain against a young 46 year old Obama. A stark contrast of age. But if you ever see McCains mother, she seems quite alert and alive and she is in her 90s.

Maybe, maybe not, but who cares what Chuck says? Hey Chuck, I loved ya in “Missing in Action” and “Invasion USA”, but don’t tell me who to vote for, or who not to vote for, and if ya do it again, I’ll kick your azz!
(Walks away slowly, hopin’ he doesn’t see me…)
Tony737 on January 21, 2008 at 2:16 PM
Juan is the oldest candidate ever to run for president.
He’s had skin cancer three times and statistically that is not good news for for a 72 year old.
He wont be able to do two terms..assuming he survives the first term.
Supposedly more people would be biased about a candidate’s old age than they would be with either a woman, a black man or or a mormon.

Chuck Norris does not sleep. He waits. And then he broke his hip.

I never thought I would live to see the day that anybody could care in the least what a horrible c-level actor thinks about politics. I dont give a rats a$s what Jane Fonda, Sean Penn, OR Chuck Norris think.
The fact that Jaysus H. Huckachrist rolls out this loser of a bad actor is further proof that he is a pro-life democrat and the true son of satan (OK, that last part was harsh).
PS. Go Mitt!!

Dammit–beat me to it. Good thing I Refreshed before posting. Chuck’s in better shape for his age, but still.
Chuck’s campaigning for the Huckafraud has definitely moved him from my ‘Fondly-remembered crappy action movie/TV star’ column to the ‘Celebrities who don’t have sense enough to shut up about politics’. Very disappointing.
ReubenJCogburn on January 21, 2008 at 2:34 PM
Speaking of old, remember Chuck’s nemesis in Invasion USA Richard Lynch? (Lynch – a great character actor – was a nemesis in a million TV shows such as the A Team and The Fall Guy among others) I saw him in a cameo in Rob zombie’s Halloween…I didn’t even recognize him. He looked really, really old. Then again, Invasion USA was made 22 years ago…

The market priced in a Hillary victory a while ago. Obama’s rise hasn’t helped, since he’d likely be more aggressive in repealing the Bush tax cuts.
Romney has been moving his economic message more to the forefront over the past few days. It could be very beneficial to him if the country focuses more on the economy than national security.

McCain Takes Lead Over Giuliani — in New York…
bnelson44 on January 21, 2008 at 2:38 PM
I’m no McCain fan, but I still have a deep-seated, instinctive respect for those who have been on this earth longer than I have. He exhibits no signs whatsoever of age-related lack of mental acuity or physical deficiencies. Just as I know my current wisdom exceeds what I thought I knew and understood ten years ago, I know I will be wiser yet in another ten to thirty years.
McCain’s un-conservative stances bother me, not his age. His age is a plus for me. Obama’s “youthful” dynamism scares me because I know he’s green as green can be and will make countless rookie mistakes that could be easily avoided by an older, more experienced person with the perspective that more years on the planet can give us.
Again, I’m no McCain fan, but his age is a plus to me and others like me.

Wait–does this count as negative campaigning since he mentioned McCain’s name? Or does it not count because Huck himself didn’t say it?
I’m expecting Huckabee to sign an “I like old people” pledge tomorrow, while saying that he can’t control what his supporters say (even though Chuck is basically his spokesman who has been tied at the hip to Huck almost the entire time).

I’m not sure where you have been the last couple months. I learned of HotAir’s priority of blog hits and comments over substance with the “silly hat” incident.
This blog is not about substance, but about gaining blog hits and comments through snark and entertainment. Once you figure that out, the experience here is much easier to tolerate.
I come here for the links and go elsewhere for serious commentary.
Michael in MI on January 21, 2008 at 3:16 PM
Right. So when we led the charge against shamnesty by producing 5 ads in a single day, we were putting entertainment over substance? When we went to Iraq and produced video reports you can’t see anywhere else, we were putting entertainment over substance? It’s nice to see our efforts appreciated.
If we were an entertainment and snark blog, we’d be TMZ.

Exactly! McCain would keep the front door (WOT) locked while leaving the back door (borders) wide open. And he brags about both stances!!
McCain has stated 1) that “he learned his lesson” (a lie) and then 2) that he has NOT changed his position on amnesty (TRUE) – which is what completely disqualifies him.
I hold McCain, Bush, and Kennedy responsible for this – a typical village (complete with brothels) of the illegal aliens to whom McCain wants to grant permanent residency after a mere 24 hours to perform background and health checks. How can anyone take this clown seriously (as he ignores the success of the correct policy in his own Arizona) on national security?

This is my opinion of this site, Bryan, like it or not. You cannot please everyone all the time. HotAir has its many worshippers of AllahPundit, you and Michelle Malkin, so you obviously please more people than you do not.
But both you and AllahPundit seem to take high offense whenever anyone doesn’t kneel down and worship at the altar of HotAir. You all do a great job with the snark and snide criticism of everyone from politicians to people who are supporters of one Presidential candidate or another. Not to mention the constant snark and snide comments from atheists thrown at theists, most especially from the resident atheist.
You both show full contempt for your readers, but then expect us all to kneel down and worship all of you.
Newsflash: you could take a bit of your own advice and get over yourselves.
I am but one of thousands who read this site daily. And I am probably one of the few, maybe even the only, who does not hold the commentary here in high regard. So relax and just deal with the fact that one small joe schmoe nobody doesn’t think the world of HotAir.

6 Reasons to vote for the Dem candidate and NOT McCain if he (McCain) wins the nomination.
1. McCain would damage the Republican brand.
His policies are closer to that of the Dems than his own party. A McCain presidency could legitimize this agenda and his views would be characterized as “Republican” positions which they are not. When these idiotic policies fail, we need to let the Dems take the blame.
2. It would be easier to defeat the liberal agenda if a “real” Dem is in the White House.
Take amnesty for example, we know it is coming back. If McCain is president he will be for it and he will use his new found legitimacy to pressure Republicans in Congress, the media, and country club Republicans to support it. If Hillary Clinton goes for amnesty, we can energize our base against her version of amnesty much easier.
3. Sending a message to RINO’s in Congress.
McCain and his antics with the “gang of fourteen,” McCain/Feingold and other such nonsense would be dealt with once and for all by punishing him with a loss in the general election. Next step would be to oust him from the Senate as well.
4. The conservative agenda could be off the table for 8-12 years.
If McCain wins the general and gets in, he will either win again or be defeated in 2012. Either way, a true Conservative won’t be able to run for many years unless there is a primary challenge against him in 4 years which would be next to impossible to pull off and would be a bloodbath for the party. If Hillary or Obama gets in, we could run a real Conservative against them in 4 years.
5. It could do irreparable harm to the Republican Party.
There is already a battle for hearts and minds within the party between the elite establishment types and the rank and file working class Conservatives. A McCain presidency would fracture us even further and many would be looking for a 3rd party to run to. The liberals would exploit this and our agenda would be derailed for years.
6. The MSM wants McCain.
We know they do not have the best interests of Conservatives in mind, and they know a McCain candidacy means that a win or loss for McCain means liberal gets into the White House. If he wins they will claim it is because he is a “maverick” that goes against those in his own party. If he loses they will say that the pro-war conservative agenda is dead. Either way, we lose.

And Rudy (sanctuary policies, etc) and Huck (in-state tuition, etc.) also. Rudy defended his policies in debate, and Huck’s latest opportunistic “plan” is 180 deg. from his record and his heart-felt beliefs. I don’t trust Huck’s new “plan” anymore than McCain’s “I learned my lesson.”
In the last debates Fred and Mitt called out McCain, Rudy, and Huck on this.
Fred and Mitt are the only ones left (after Hunter) that would veto any form of amnesty/rewards/bribes.
