Question: If a women driver goes to the store alone and buys something (from a male cashier) is that punishable by death? She would be, after all, associating with someone of the opposite sex.
lorien1973 on January 21, 2008 at 10:54 PM
Can the drive in their Burkas ?
And will they need a male escort to put gas in the car ?
William Amos on January 21, 2008 at 10:55 PM
Yes.
fourstringfuror on January 21, 2008 at 11:02 PM
On the downside, Saudi car insurance rates are expected to skyrocket…
brak on January 21, 2008 at 11:03 PM
Pretty soon they’ll vote and everything. How can we maintain a Satanic death cult effectively with these women drivers?!?
Mojave Mark on January 21, 2008 at 11:04 PM
Next thing you know, Jews will be allowed to live. Nah!
stonemeister on January 21, 2008 at 11:07 PM
So if you’re a Saudi male teaching one of your wives how to drive, and she’s in the driver’s seat, are you still really a man?
Canadian Infidel on January 21, 2008 at 11:08 PM
If they run over a man, is it an immediate death sentence?
If so, they should run over a dozen, and make it worthwhile.
profitsbeard on January 21, 2008 at 11:09 PM
Heh I would be very afraid if I was a mutawa in Saudi Right now. Women will be aiming for them
William Amos on January 21, 2008 at 11:11 PM
This should bring them technically into the XVIII-XIXth centuries, but it sure doesn’t look like it, from this quote alone.
Entelechy on January 21, 2008 at 11:14 PM
@ Entelechy on January 21, 2008 at 11:14 PM
I agree, I mean what the hell are the benefits??

“One foot on the brake and on the gas, HEY!”
ThePrez on January 21, 2008 at 11:16 PM
I think seeing every iraqi including women vote scared the crap out of the males in the arab magic kingdoms.
William Amos on January 21, 2008 at 11:21 PM
GEICO has it covered
Pam on January 21, 2008 at 11:26 PM
They will certainly not be allowed to drive unless escorted by a male family member.
At least the promotion of virtue and prevention of vice police will get some fancy wheels to keep an eye on these potential mobile slutfests.
And the first accident involving a woman will be excuse enough to shut it all down anyway.
BL@KBIRD on January 21, 2008 at 11:27 PM
The big question should be, do they have westerners working in their convenience stores?
john1schn on January 21, 2008 at 11:30 PM
How about this for tomorrows “Quote of the day”?
Oh my God!
Asian markets, which went down about 6% on Monday, are now going down about another 6% for Tuesday.
So Ladies and Germs, DOW down to the max on Tuesday till trading stops kick in?
MB4 on January 21, 2008 at 11:30 PM
…Allah, I think you’re missing one beep.
G on January 21, 2008 at 11:31 PM
Now we know were AQ goons will be heading next!
If a woman is pulled over in Saudi Arabia, can she get
away with a little flesh to bribe the Saudi police or
if that doesn’t work, will they have to bring in the
morality gestapo police first!
And if applying at the window docket of your licence
bureau,will a woman have to serve a another woman,or
will she risk showing to much flesh for the guy on the otherside, and if so again will she have to wait for
the morality gestapo!
Like California, three strikes your out,if the woman is stopped more than three times by the morality goons
is it automatic death or what!
So many ideas,so little time.haha
canopfor on January 21, 2008 at 11:33 PM
I hope they outlaw mascara!
SouthernGent on January 21, 2008 at 11:35 PM
They now have someplace to drive to!
Saudi women can now stay in hotels alone
atxcowgirl on January 21, 2008 at 11:51 PM
Nothing like an “Oh my God” or “Good Lord” from an atheist. Though, the subject is lethal and potentially devastating for many, and politically for the conservatives, in addition to their current wonderings in the wilderness.
Gold, check.
Guns, check.
If women will drive in Saudi Arabia, that should inspire the ones all over the Middle East; the consumption of oil would go up – therefore, that should also affect the economy.
p.s. I’m all for women driving and flying.
Entelechy on January 21, 2008 at 11:51 PM

The lady knows her priorities, my friend. How’s it up in Canada?
Entelechy on January 22, 2008 at 12:08 AM
Wise man, Confucius. Alas, she can fly, but not wield a sword, yet. But she has someone who’ll teach her, if he quits roaming.
MB4, what kind of drop do you predict? How many hundreds? I predict bad, but less than other markets, with a rebound in the next 2-3 months. What say you?
Entelechy on January 22, 2008 at 12:14 AM
Fouzia al-Ayouni … Susan B. Anthony is applauding!
Thank you Laura Bush for letting the women of the KSA know they do not stand alone.
Texas Gal on January 22, 2008 at 12:22 AM
You can’t dutch boy this. once anyone who has been denied personal freedom tastes it they will want and press for more.
I’m sure they’ll find out for themselves soon enough… :D

My comments are going into the bit bucket.
The Govmint must be trying to silence my warnings!!!

I think it will likely go down till the trading stops suspend trading, unless the PPT (Plunge Protection Team) gets busy buying futures.

If you have too many links that happens automatically – one reason…
Entelechy on January 22, 2008 at 12:37 AM
OK, I figured it out. I can’t do a link to CNN appraently.

Shy Guy on January 22, 2008 at 12:39 AM
That’s true. Several HA commenters have experienced CNN link blockage in recent past.

If they could separate the terrorists from the rest, you might have invented a wonderful tactic for fighting the whatever we should call it, WoT for now.

What a waste it is to lose one’s mind. Or not to have a mind is being very wasteful. How true that is.

SECOND LOOK AT DAN QUAYLE!
MB4 on January 22, 2008 at 12:56 AM
Thanks. I did. Blood baths all over, especially for the DAX and Hang Seng. Btw, I was physically in the Hang Sang, while visiting HK six months before it went back to China. Retreat to the land, and live quietly. It’s probably just the beginning.
There is progress, men are thinking about granting women in Saudi Arabia the right to drive…they’re coming out of the holes, as we want to crawl back in…
Entelechy on January 22, 2008 at 12:57 AM
Which province are you in canopfor? Yes, you have some strange laws and mores up there, but I still love Canada, and Canadians, eh? Been there many, many times, all over. You’re somewhere btw. here and Europe, though, with the nonsense.
Entelechy on January 22, 2008 at 1:00 AM
Dax is for Monday. Hang Seng is for Tuesday, adding to it’s Monday fall.
MB4 on January 22, 2008 at 1:03 AM
It’s already Tuesday for the DAX. New figures s/b available in a couple of hours.
Where is everyone? The Fredheads must have keeled over early today. The WoT and any other threads, if not elections, don’t do well any more. This long election season is driving me nuts. I’m losing interest.
Entelechy on January 22, 2008 at 1:12 AM
They must all be out trying to round up all the Gold and Guns that they can before it’s to late!
Actually the DOW is up 13 in pre-market trading. Go figure.
MB4 on January 22, 2008 at 1:19 AM
My prediction of the DOW not going down as much as the rest of the world, might come through. We had this situation once in the 90s too.
See McCain Hasn’t Changed Position thread, 3rd from the bottom, right.
Entelechy on January 22, 2008 at 1:28 AM
I’m guessing avoidence of such a situation is the original intent of the prohibition.

Suppose the women in SA know how to shoot?
Entelechy on January 22, 2008 at 2:17 AM
and with that, an entire nation learns why a large swath of jokes from the 1950s are funny.

That was the oops.
Clicked submit on the first post, and screen froze.
Refreshed the page and 1st still wasn’t there.
Submitted the short term memory loss affected modified post. and saw the 1st had appeared.
The glitch?
I’m not sure just how it happened.
Web-Gremlins?
soundingboard on January 22, 2008 at 3:00 AM
SA?
And it’s my opinion that ALL women should know how to shoot.
That’s empowerment.
soundingboard on January 22, 2008 at 3:06 AM
Your prediction is on target. This is the beginning of the end of the widely celebrated ‘decoupling’. Once again, the U.S. sneezes and the world gets pneumonia. The U.S. will rebound quickly and reclaim its leadership. Reversion to the mean.
RedWinged Blackbird on January 22, 2008 at 5:57 AM
“Allowing women to drive will only bring sin,” a letter to Al-Watan newspaper declared last year. “The evils it would bring – mixing between the genders, temptations, and tarnishing the reputation of devout Muslim women – outweigh the benefits.”
Somehow I see the Saudi women shootin’ the bird to the male drivers for reasons more than…oh…gettin’ out of the way.

Here is a stock tip:
lead & brass are going to have the fungibility of cash and the value of gold.
In other words, stock up on ammo.
