Open thread: The “let’s talk about ‘change’ for three hours” debate

8 p.m. ET on CNN. The Messiah’s up big in SC although none of those results account for Hillary’s win in Nevada. Expect much talk of healing tonight to commemorate MLK Day, interspersed with accusations that Bill Clinton’s a liar and Obama’s team is dabbling in voter suppression.
While we wait, here’s the video of BJ dozing in church yesterday during an MLK remembrance. Comments of the “what if a Republican did this?” variety are, as always, encouraged. Fox News’s embed video of Mitt’s travels on MLK Day also comes recommended, but stick with it until the end or else you’ll miss the “bling bling” line. If you’re in the mood for something meatier, Moran can help you out. Don’t read it if you’re depressed, though, as it might send you spiraling.
Sound off below if you’re watching; Bryan and/or I will have video highlights later. My program guide says CNN has cleared three full hours for tonight’s festivities, but if you can’t spare the time, watch this clip instead. You won’t miss anything.

If one of you boys can get through three hours of this you have a stronger will than I do.

I can’t do it. I’m gonna introduce my kids to Faulty Towers.

Per Vodkapundit (sung to the lines of Monty Python’s Spam skit song):
Change, change, change, change, change, change, change, change, CHANGE!, Wonderful change!
AUINSC on January 21, 2008 at 7:38 PM
I wonder if Bill will stay awake for this?
JayHaw Phrenzie on January 21, 2008 at 7:39 PM
And this is different how?
Califemme on January 21, 2008 at 7:39 PM
Ziggy Stardust is more conservative than most of them and has better hair than Edwards.
Nosferightu on January 21, 2008 at 7:41 PM
Fabulous!!! Thanks for making that, so I can smile, dance a little, and watch something else tonight. I’m emailing this vid to all my friends, of both parties.
And yes, the friends of the other party are relatives … (sigh). Of the hard-headed, soft-hearted, ooooooh-aren’t-we-so-bright-and-caring variety. The thinking man’s moron. The can’t join ‘em, just wanna beat ‘em kind of relatives. Not that I condone violence, except toward terrorists … in which case, I really, really do.

I need a change! My diapers have gone to the dark side!

I’ll sum it up before it starts and draw comparisons to the previous Democratic debates.
“Same sh!t, different day.”

If British comedy is what you like, I recommend the election episode of Blackadder the Third. The concept of Silly Party and Very Silly Party was prescient (or maybe I’m thinking of Monty Python’s North Minehead By-Election).

Change to communism?
infidel on January 21, 2008 at 7:56 PM
Nah, I’m not sophisticated enough to get that stuff…I just liked the tune and the incessant, repetitive nature of the ‘message’.
AUINSC on January 21, 2008 at 7:56 PM
Obviously a conspiracy to make people forget that Ron Paul is the Changemeister.
snaggletoothie on January 21, 2008 at 7:59 PM
Who is actually watching this?
malan89 on January 21, 2008 at 8:00 PM
Ahh, another Democratic debate…which can be sumed up in 20 seconds HERE
JetBoy on January 21, 2008 at 8:01 PM

Wolf Blitzer just said he is going to start with some housecleaning. This is an obviously sexist comment directed at Senator Clinton

Ron Paul for Obama’s VP !
William Amos on January 21, 2008 at 8:09 PM
BTW I think conservatives who say they will sit at home in November should all be forced to watch democratic debates to see what the consequences of such actions are
William Amos on January 21, 2008 at 8:10 PM
Just tuning in with my new HD tv. Hillary looks very scary in HD, especially with these close-ups. Does she smoke? She has the creased wrinkled lips of a smoker.
cannonball on January 21, 2008 at 8:11 PM
Hillary floats a disaster in waiting stimulus package, and kneels down before the CBC for their help to get ‘er done.
yo on January 21, 2008 at 8:11 PM
Hill just kissed the congressional black caucus’s butt.
Pandering b*tch.
fogw on January 21, 2008 at 8:11 PM
I’d take to Obama much better if he’d ever shown ANY interest in the poor and disenfranchised in Illinois.
yo on January 21, 2008 at 8:12 PM
It’s important to talk about change. Considering the rate at which the dollar is falling, the stock markets are crashing, and such, change is all any of us are going to have left (in our pockets).

I swear in that piclooks like Obama is getting ready to put a glass slipper on Hillary.
Something about a pig and lipstick comes to mind
William Amos on January 21, 2008 at 8:13 PM
Edwards has no clue about who MLK was, or anything that he was about.
yo on January 21, 2008 at 8:14 PM
Did anybody here even imagine, in their wildest dreams, that John Edwards, loves, and I mean truly loves, in a way that MLK could only dream of, POOR PEOPLE!

And when McCain loses to Hil or O, don’t you wanna be the one who helped push the button?

Step right up to the “Democrat Giveaway Debate”.

canopfor on January 21, 2008 at 8:15 PM
Nooo. Could you imagine the shrillness and abuse of the English language emanating from a Silky/Luap Nor ticket?
notta_dhimmi on January 21, 2008 at 8:15 PM
Os if Obama or hillary wins you can proudly say you sat at home and made it happen ?
William Amos on January 21, 2008 at 8:16 PM
Obama gives Silky a bit of a smack stating that the “emergency” stimulus package needs to help now, not later.
yo on January 21, 2008 at 8:16 PM
I feel a cage match coming on… Clinton’s about to light into Obama about their plans.

No it’s the debate about global warming that’s over. This one is still going.
terryannonline on January 21, 2008 at 8:18 PM
LOL… I fully expect that the democrat candidate will at some point actually run an ad that says “I’m not george bush” to which the republican candidate should run an ad immediately after that says either: “I’m not george bush either” or “I wish the democrats would look to the future, instead of running the same old 2004 campaign against george bush”
