Open thread: The “let’s talk about ‘change’ for three hours” debate

8 p.m. ET on CNN. The Messiah’s up big in SC although none of those results account for Hillary’s win in Nevada. Expect much talk of healing tonight to commemorate MLK Day, interspersed with accusations that Bill Clinton’s a liar and Obama’s team is dabbling in voter suppression.

While we wait, here’s the video of BJ dozing in church yesterday during an MLK remembrance. Comments of the “what if a Republican did this?” variety are, as always, encouraged. Fox News’s embed video of Mitt’s travels on MLK Day also comes recommended, but stick with it until the end or else you’ll miss the “bling bling” line. If you’re in the mood for something meatier, Moran can help you out. Don’t read it if you’re depressed, though, as it might send you spiraling.

Sound off below if you’re watching; Bryan and/or I will have video highlights later. My program guide says CNN has cleared three full hours for tonight’s festivities, but if you can’t spare the time, watch this clip instead. You won’t miss anything.

Reminds me of Kerry.

darii on January 21, 2008 at 9:10 PM

Is BHO saying that the war costs too much so we have to end it, then we should take that money and use it for something else?

If we can’t it afford it then we can’t afford it.

He lacks logic.

pappy on January 21, 2008 at 9:10 PM

Still think McCain is as bad as these guys ?

William Amos on January 21, 2008 at 9:10 PM

I’m not a fan of Bush, but I can’t manage to hate him as much as Hitlery does.

MrScribbler on January 21, 2008 at 9:11 PM

Wolfie, “Hillary let me ask you about Iraq, and how soon you will bring the troops home. Everyone out by the end of 2009?”

Hillary, “Bush Bush Bush Bush Bush Bush Bush Bush Bush Bush Bush Bush Bush Bush Bush Bush Bush.”

Wolfie, “OK, thanks Hillary for clearing that up.”

Good strategy CNN …. bringing out chairs for the candidates to sit on.

Might keep them from talking out of their a$$e$.

fogw on January 21, 2008 at 9:16 PM

I so bummed that Wolf didn’t follow up with Hillary and ask her if her health plan covered illegals, and then followed up w/ her statement that “no woman is illegal”.

yo on January 21, 2008 at 9:30 PM

hah the Black Bill Clinton

William Amos on January 21, 2008 at 9:31 PM

Is anyone sort of confused how anyone on stage can criticize the media’s “preoccupation of race”… at the Congressional Black Caucus debate?

Vizzini on January 21, 2008 at 9:31 PM

Obama: President Clinton was not black enough.

The only injustice regarding Hillary is what she’s doing to that pant suit.

Oh, and Hillary: Republicans hate black people.

Silky – I love the poor because I’m poor (intellectually, morally, emotionally, etc..)

AUINSC on January 21, 2008 at 9:40 PM

I cant watch anymore. Its a bash America because we are too racist not to just take care of people based on their colorby giving them limitless amounts of federal aid.

William Amos on January 21, 2008 at 9:40 PM

Sounds like John Edwards just advocated school vouchers.

askheaves on January 21, 2008 at 9:40 PM

Vizzini on January 21, 2008 at 9:41 PM

Yes Hillary, tell the first lady Bill to shut up.

Bush doesn’t care about America?

yo on January 21, 2008 at 9:42 PM

Question about Hill’s voice and about Billy Jeff being too involved w/ her campaign.
Was that one of the top 10 issues that people of SC wanted to hear addressed at the debate.

Gawd! that voice.

Over30 on January 21, 2008 at 9:42 PM

Wow – even the water has a CNN logo on it.

canopfor on January 21, 2008 at 9:44 PM

ok, i just threw up in my mouth a little, so I gotta go…i’m saturated with this meaningless, destructive crap that all of these guys spew. if we can’t stop these dems from gaining the white house, we’re screwed as a country. i’m not sure we can…gonna be a night of bad dreams for me.

AUINSC on January 21, 2008 at 9:45 PM

Ooh, intriguing angle by Edwards by evoking McCain…

Vizzini on January 21, 2008 at 9:46 PM

I’m done, too.

I’m not sure which is more disgusting, these candidates promising the same change that’s been promised for 50+ years, or the people who’s lots in life are the same, or worse, after the same 50+ years of those promises.

It boggles the mind.

Republicans may not be the best thing since sliced bread, but most of them aren’t campaigning to be my mommy.

yo on January 21, 2008 at 9:50 PM

Obama:right wing faiths!

canopfor on January 21, 2008 at 9:53 PM

Jeez, that debate reminded me of one of the album covers from Frank Zappa: Weasels Rip My Flesh.

Over30 on January 21, 2008 at 10:07 PM

Wow, that “change” video was brilliant, but sadly, I fear it will just encourage the disaffected who say there is no difference between the candidates.

thuja on January 21, 2008 at 10:58 PM

Powers is on O’Reilly again, shilling for the HRC as always. I wonder how much the Clintons are paying her?

fourstringfuror on January 21, 2008 at 11:20 PM

Just about now I think the Dems are getting as dissatisfied with their choices for Prez as the Republicans were…

I still like Bush and that doesn’t mean I don’t think he made some mistakes. I just think he is a person of conviction and doesn’t speak out of both sides of his mouth or whichever way the wind is blowing. So Hillary’s constant attacking of him gets real old and just makes me dislike her all the more.
