AFC at 3, NFC after that. Frozen tundras in both games, which might give the Patriots a slight edge as if they needed it. We all know about the downfall of my team, so I’m not sure who to cheer for now. But I know which team I’d like to see get beaten by about four touchdowns, plus the thought of a Giants-Chargers Super Bowl puts me right to sleep. So today, and this day only, consider me a Cheesehead.
And consider the Patriots unshaven. Hey, it’s cold out there.
Update: 18-0.
Update: Giants go from wild card all the way to the big dance.

Grammer? Kelsey? Sure he’s a bit of a mess, but I wouldn’t call him horrible.
Or did you mean something else?
Pablo on January 20, 2008 at 7:23 PM
The Pack finally got on the board with less than 12 minutes to go in the second half.
Lambeau Field went wild as if they had won the Super Bowl. I love Green Bay fans.
:still can’t believe the frikking Giants are there and not the Cowboys:

Farve!!!

Packer D stepping up.
jpsc1 on January 20, 2008 at 7:43 PM
Losing brings out the best in people. LOL
Wade on January 20, 2008 at 7:43 PM
18-0! One more to go!
Brady looked awful today, I’m nervous about facing either NFC team. I think Favre/Brady is a dream tv matchup… out with the old, in with the new. The changing of the guard. I jsut don’t want to see another Manning in the Superbowl. ;-)
cannonball on January 20, 2008 at 7:57 PM
Too bad for the Pats that they got caught cheating and were fined at the beginning of the season. Can you say “asterisk?”
bluestater on January 20, 2008 at 7:57 PM
Never claimed to be a good spellur, uh, spelar, uh, er…..

At the risk of confusing Pablo and BigOldDog, I gotta defend the Patriots here….they’d still be in the SB had they not stooped to that. They’re a complete team.
Patrick S on January 20, 2008 at 8:37 PM
Too funny — the td and the fake jump into the stands. I love it. Screw the dirty Packers.
Jaibones on January 20, 2008 at 8:42 PM
I’m with you. Green Bay fan today, Patriots fan tomorrow!
…oops, 13-10 Giants…
Vigilante on January 20, 2008 at 8:45 PM
Ah, more dirty plays from the Packers, what a surprise. I’m always startled when the refs don’t throw flags at Al Harris on the first three plays from scrimmage, just to set the tone. Next to Rodney Harrison, he’s the dirtiest player in the league.
Also loved the helmet to helmet hit by the safety. I guess they’ll just take the fine out of his playoff money?
Jaibones on January 20, 2008 at 9:00 PM
Goal : )
Texyank on January 20, 2008 at 9:05 PM
Who says cheaters never win????
Go Pats! NOT!!!!!
azcop on January 20, 2008 at 9:05 PM
The used a video camera on the sidelines to tape something that is shown during every NFL broadcast and can be seen by every person in the stands. They broke a rule by doing it from the sidelines rather than an enclosed space as the rules allow. It was blown up out of all proportion by the media mostly because they hate Bilichick because he has never kissed their ass. And oh, BTW, the Jets did the same thing and instead of turning it into an international incident, the Patriots simply asked them to stop.
TheBigOldDog on January 20, 2008 at 9:09 PM
New England who?
F15Mech on January 20, 2008 at 9:11 PM
I hate to go against the vitriol, but am I the only one who wishes FOX would turn down the gain on the crowd noise mikes? I have a terrible time trying to hear the commentators. This has been a consistent problem all season long, too.
sondiehl on January 20, 2008 at 9:11 PM
Here, put this in your asterisk and smoke it:
Report: Jets caught spying
TheBigOldDog on January 20, 2008 at 9:13 PM
Exactly
When you have a team that sends 8 players to the pro bowl (as did SD) and 7 of the 8 players selected are starters for the 2008 pro-bowl, they are going to be a tough team to beat.
F15Mech on January 20, 2008 at 9:40 PM
Whoever wins this one going to be easy pickens for
the Pats. Sloppy sloppy sloppy but I’m still cheering for
the Giants.
Texyank on January 20, 2008 at 9:46 PM
McQuarters, the former Bear, is the douchebag of the night for the Giants. What a bonehead.
Jaibones on January 20, 2008 at 9:52 PM
Was that who just lost a TD due to penalty ?
Texyank on January 20, 2008 at 9:55 PM
No, he’s the guy with the interception and fumble and the punt return and fumble.
Jaibones on January 20, 2008 at 9:59 PM
Another Flobbbbbb
Texyank on January 20, 2008 at 10:03 PM
Two missed field goals late. Wow.
Jaibones on January 20, 2008 at 10:03 PM
JUST a bit outside.
Mike D. on January 20, 2008 at 10:03 PM
Allah, aren’t these your guys? What the heck? Please don’t let the Packers get out of this ugly game alive.
Jaibones on January 20, 2008 at 10:04 PM
Brent Favre is a conservative. He will win this game. The New York liberals will go home as losers.
Griz on January 20, 2008 at 10:05 PM
You can the kicker to that list. What a choke
Texyank on January 20, 2008 at 10:06 PM
Bad snap. But I think he rushed the holder a bit, too.
Jaibones on January 20, 2008 at 10:07 PM
I hate the Packers, but it’s impossible not to like Favre.
Jaibones on January 20, 2008 at 10:07 PM
That’s why the Chiefs traded him, he’s a choker.
Gianni on January 20, 2008 at 10:08 PM
Hmm….praying to Allah.
Patrick S on January 20, 2008 at 10:09 PM
3rd time a charm for the kicker . . .
Texyank on January 20, 2008 at 10:12 PM
This has officially been the Weekend of Crushed Dreams.
MadisonConservative on January 20, 2008 at 10:13 PM
Congrates Giants
Texyank on January 20, 2008 at 10:13 PM
I think they said no one ever kicked a 40 yarder in Lambeau, postseason. So much for that.
Jaibones on January 20, 2008 at 10:13 PM
Sorry, MC. Bad weekend for you.
Jaibones on January 20, 2008 at 10:13 PM
Son of a biatch!
Football like the GOP primary is just freaking wrong.
SimplyKimberly on January 20, 2008 at 10:14 PM
Heh. Nice catch.
Jaibones on January 20, 2008 at 10:14 PM
If the Pack had won I was going with “Blues for Allah”, but maybe he’s a Jets fan.
Jaibones on January 20, 2008 at 10:14 PM
Well that sucked. We already saw the giants lose to the patriots. 3 weeks ago. Now we get to watch it yet again?
lorien1973 on January 20, 2008 at 10:15 PM
No two weeks of sappy Favre stories! Yipee!
TheBigOldDog on January 20, 2008 at 10:15 PM
I still don’t know how the Giants lost that Patriots game.
Jaibones on January 20, 2008 at 10:16 PM
Well, you’ll see a repeat of it in a couple of weeks. So you’ll figure it out :)
lorien1973 on January 20, 2008 at 10:17 PM
It was easy. They got beat. Just like all the others.
TheBigOldDog on January 20, 2008 at 10:17 PM
Yeah, I spose. And since the New York-Boston media will be in a two week orgy of self-congratulation and navel gazing, we’ll get peace in Chicago. We can drink our bourbon and suffer the cold in silence.
Jaibones on January 20, 2008 at 10:18 PM
Guess I won’t be going to my local Packer bar in a couple weeks. Dadburnit!
oakpack on January 20, 2008 at 10:19 PM
I’m a cheesehead. Props to the Giants, go beat the Patroits.
jpsc1 on January 20, 2008 at 10:19 PM
What’s Tiki gotta’ say, now?
yo on January 20, 2008 at 10:19 PM
I’m a Giants fan and even I dont believe it !!!
WHOO HOO !!! SUPER BOWL BABY !!!
Always Right on January 20, 2008 at 10:19 PM
Well, there goes any reason I had to watch the Super Bowl. Pats are going to go undefeated, which I don’t want to see.
Kowboy on January 20, 2008 at 10:20 PM
Ditto.
amerpundit on January 20, 2008 at 10:21 PM
Congrats NY
Will see you again in 2 weeks.
F15Mech on January 20, 2008 at 10:22 PM
And it will be, however the national media has always fawned over Favre and they had all the stories already written. Two weeks of that would have been really tough to stomach.
This is setting up to be an awful lot like 1985 when the Patriots won 3 straight road playoff games as a Wild Card team to be the lambs slaughtered by the 1985 Bears.
TheBigOldDog on January 20, 2008 at 10:23 PM
What the F? First John McCain and now the Giants. Worst weekend ever?
Vigilante on January 20, 2008 at 10:23 PM
God that was painful (although expected)
F15Mech on January 20, 2008 at 10:25 PM
Tiki Barber ought to be put on suicide watch right about now.
Wineaholic on January 20, 2008 at 10:25 PM
Man, I picked the wrong year to retire?
More importantly what is Shockey saying and what’s his future with the Giants look like right now?
TheBigOldDog on January 20, 2008 at 10:25 PM
Yep sure is. But I don’t think anyone wants to see belichick do the superbowl shuffle.
lorien1973 on January 20, 2008 at 10:26 PM
Um, that’s because he is the greatest QB in our time, even though he handed the Giants the game……….Dog.
oakpack on January 20, 2008 at 10:26 PM
This game was probably the worst “We collectively give up” I’ve seen since…uh…well…ever. The Giants Defense is good but not “Packers go 3 and out all the time with no running game” good.
This was sad…very disappointed in the Packer performance.
A couple weeks ago we watched these Giants almost beat the Patriots in a game that didn’t really mean anything. Now it means everything. Should be a good game.
Pilgrim on January 20, 2008 at 10:26 PM
how many days till the giants bring out the “we’re being disrespected” line. over under 3 days.
lorien1973 on January 20, 2008 at 10:28 PM
LOL put me down for 15 min.
F15Mech on January 20, 2008 at 10:30 PM
Pilgrim on January 20, 2008 at 10:26 PM
I got that feeling to Pilgrim. When Favre threw it up with little time left in the third, and second and ten, it looked like that was all they wanted to play.
oakpack on January 20, 2008 at 10:32 PM
There are 2 active QBs who have the rings and records to prove the gross exaggeration of that statement. If longevity makes you “the greatest of our time” then I might agree. If success on the field is the measure then it’s not even close.
TheBigOldDog on January 20, 2008 at 10:32 PM
Sorry, boys. We Bears fans have been (pathetically) reliving that for 22 years. Great team.
Pilgrim — the Pack had a great year, and certainly didn’t lay down for anyone tonight. Tough breaks against a team with a hot QB. Head high, bro. Get rid of the creepy snake hair guys.
Jaibones on January 20, 2008 at 10:34 PM
You guys are missing the most important point, no football next week. 20 weeks worth of chores the wife will have me doing…
I really wanted the Pats to beat the Packers, but beating a NY team will do, even though I hate the Giants much less than all the other NY teams.
reaganaut on January 20, 2008 at 10:34 PM
Brady will play sock puppet with Eli. Even though I like the Manning team, you gotta reach a point of reality.
BTW this post will be removed for no good reason. I would really like to know why my posts have been deleted.
When I was allowed into this club, I promised not to be a “bomb thrower” and to date I have not thrown 1 bomb,
Please capture.
lsutiger on January 20, 2008 at 10:35 PM
TheBigOldDog on January 20, 2008 at 10:32 PM
What Favre did with that team was much, much more than what Brady did. Brady is good but to put him in Farve’s league is, how u say, a “gross exaggeration”.
oakpack on January 20, 2008 at 10:35 PM
Good point
My hatred for the Giants is non-existent.
Some other NY teams…well that hate goes back roughly 30 years.
F15Mech on January 20, 2008 at 10:38 PM
Go GI-ANTS!!!!
A Manning who isn’t named Peyton ~ sweet Mary, mother of God, I LOVE IT!
tree hugging sister on January 20, 2008 at 10:39 PM
The ironic thing is, there are LOTS of co Giants-Patritos fans in New England that dates back to the days before the AFL and the founding of the Boston patriots. And, in the decades and decades of Patriot mediocrity, people kept the tradition of also following the Giants. This should be an interesting week in Sports talk radio…
TheBigOldDog on January 20, 2008 at 10:39 PM
excuse me?
F15Mech on January 20, 2008 at 10:40 PM
Oh well, life goes on. Hey, how bout that South Carolina thing this weekend? Oh ya, that sucked too.
oakpack on January 20, 2008 at 10:41 PM
Tom Brady has:
1) 3 Super Bowl rings and going for his 4th
2) 2 Super Bowl MVPs
3) 1 League MVP
4) Holds the single season TD record
5) Hold the League scoring record
6) Highest completion percentage in NFL playoff history
And that’s off the top of my head.
TheBigOldDog on January 20, 2008 at 10:42 PM
That’s one of the side benefits of the Giant win, isn’t it? Tiki is low class and now he can try to explain how they made the trip with Eli and not him. Karma!
a capella on January 20, 2008 at 10:43 PM
Looks like Al Harris chose the fourth quarter to have his menses.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer scumbag.
On to Glendale for Big Blue!
:)
Gerard on January 20, 2008 at 10:44 PM
TheBigOldDog on January 20, 2008 at 10:42 PM
Any cardboard cut-out could do that with that team. I think you’re missing the point………..again.
oakpack on January 20, 2008 at 10:47 PM
Yeah baby, go Giants!!!! It’s gonna suck for the Patriots to blow their undefeated season by losing to the Giants in the Superbowl!!
clancy_wiggum on January 20, 2008 at 10:47 PM
I think you miss the point that Tom did most of that with Receivers and running backs you can’t even name.
TheBigOldDog on January 20, 2008 at 10:48 PM
I think you miss the point that Tom did most of that with Receivers and running backs you can’t even name.
TheBigOldDog on January 20, 2008 at 10:48 PM
Hence the word TEAM. Get it now?
oakpack on January 20, 2008 at 10:51 PM
Um I think you are missing the point. Last I checked a cardboard cut-out was not able to throw the most TD’s in a single season. If that is the case then what does that say about Farve?
F15Mech on January 20, 2008 at 10:53 PM
I don’t hate either team, actually kind of like them both. That’s because they don’t have the rivalry with the Bears going.
The Pack only lost three games in the regular season, and two were to the Bears. Bears!
We always said that a 2-14 season would be ok as long as the 2 wins were over the Packers. We came painfully close to finding out if that was true.
Jaibones on January 20, 2008 at 10:53 PM
As a Giants, fan, let me just say “WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!”
William Teach on January 20, 2008 at 10:54 PM
Guys, Favre and Brady will both be regarded in the top ten of all time. Hard to discredit either one.
Jaibones on January 20, 2008 at 10:54 PM
Right a TEAM with at most 2 pro bowlers. Do you not follow football? He took guys that aren’t even #3 receivers in the league this year to the AFC Championship game last year.
TheBigOldDog on January 20, 2008 at 10:55 PM
I Don’t care what you say, Favre is the greatest and you can’t respond because I’ve already signed off. lol Good Grief.
oakpack on January 20, 2008 at 10:57 PM
LMAO
If that is not a typical liberal response I don’t know what is.
Your facts mean nothing to me it’s all about feeling…
I am not going to listen to your facts because it may cause me to re-think some of my feelings.
F15Mech on January 20, 2008 at 11:02 PM
Off topic (apologies)
But no one’s really involved anyway. Here is the latest crap from the craptacular Democrat primary, with Obama — the post-racial candidate with the politics of hope and change! — calling for the unity of self-described black Americans behind … him.
Great.
Once again, Republicans have demonstrated to Democrats how to behave (widespread conservative support for Michael Steele, for example), and Democrats have decided that racial acrimony is far more to their liking. Good grief.
Jaibones on January 20, 2008 at 11:06 PM
Under great pressure, a person’s true nature comes out. People revert to what they are at their core and their base instincts take over.
TheBigOldDog on January 20, 2008 at 11:12 PM
But I’m reading that wrong … no?
Jaibones on January 20, 2008 at 11:13 PM
Who was the only person alive to mention the name Lawrence Tynes before the game?
Oh yeah, that was me.
My heart rate has just returned to normal.
JammieWearingFool on January 20, 2008 at 11:16 PM
Nope. It’s pretty obvious. He’s playing the race card.
TheBigOldDog on January 20, 2008 at 11:18 PM
Someone … anyone … give me a clearer example of racial/racist political speech in the last 10 years?
Jaibones on January 20, 2008 at 11:22 PM
The question is, who will Jacobs taunt when he reaches the end zone in two weeks?
Gerard on January 20, 2008 at 11:22 PM
As a die-hard Packers fans, I would be upset… if the Packers had actually shown up to play.
But they didn’t. It ended up being a game of who sucked less; the Giants didn’t even play remarkably well, with missed scoring opportunities left and right. If I were Brady and Belicik watching that game, I’d be laughing with glee right now. Had that been either of those teams against the Patriots, New England would have completely dominated.
They’ll still dominate… they just have to wait for two weeks to do so.
