Fredhead poll Update: A decision coming Tuesday?

posted at 5:18 pm on January 20, 2008 by Bryan
Send to a Friend | printer-friendly

Patrick Ruffini is running the poll, which asks two questions.

#1. If Fred drops out of the race, who will you support?

#2. If Fred drops out and endorses McCain, what impact will that have on your vote?

Before you Fredheads yell at me about this poll, consider that Fred declared that South Carolina was his stand state and he finished third there. Also consider that at some point, people have to start dropping out of the GOP race, and Fred and Huckabee are probably the most likely major candidates to drop out at this point. Huckabee because South Carolina gave him a loss on what amounted to home turf, and Fred because the evidence of Fredmentum is, sadly, scant. Reality’s teeth are getting sharper by the day.

If I had my druthers, Fred would stay in, we would go to a brokered convention and Fred would end up on the ticket. But my druthers don’t seem to be accounting for much these days.

Update: Carl Cameron says there may be a decision coming Tuesday.

As we have previously reported Fred Thomspon is in Tennessee visiting his 90 plus year old mother who is recovering from an illness

There will be no decisions today as Thompson mulls whether to carry on his bid for the presidency but he is expected to say something definitive tomorrow, probably first thing in the morning.

While no one in the campaign will be surprised if he withdraws they have no idea which way he will go and they do have some money if he should decide to continue.

The average Christian doesn’t carry around the New Testament on its own. They carry around both books. Therefore, it’s more than reasonable to call them on the Old one. - MadisonConservative on January 20, 2008 at 10:31 PM

No, it is entirely unreasonable. Christians are followers of Christ and reject the Halakha as set forth in Leviticus and Deuteronomy. This much was made clear to the Apostle Peter as recorded in the Acts of the Apostles. As i pointed out earlier, for Christians the Old Testament is less a guidebook of do’s and don’t’s as it is a record of messianic prophecy. As a Catholic (full disclosure: so am I) you of all people should know that.

You got smoked, dude. Live with it.

Not quite as disastrously off topic:

Given that independents have reshaped the GOP to the point that I don’t think it includes me anymore, I didn’t vote in Ruffini’s poll because it omits the choice: “Disgusted with Republican Party, won’t bother to vote in state primary.”

Ok, Tancredo is out, Hunter is out, Fred soon to depart. So our choices are a) slow and painful death or b) painful slow death. Not very appealing either way.

Tom Tancredo endorsed Romney. So did Sheriff Joe. So did Jim DeMint, who along with Jeff Sessions was one of the heroes in stopping Juan Plantation McVano’s Middle of the Night Grand Shamnesty Plus.

NemoParticularis on January 20, 2008 at 10:49 PM

Then why is it still included? Why stick with the King James?

And I’m not a Catholic. I went through Catholic school and all I learned was that I will never be a Catholic. However, I brought up these very points, and my supposedly Catholic teachers balked at me. I asked the priest, and he gave that same answer that you did, and said it was the responsibility of the individual to reconcile those conflicts through what they believe is right.

Now, HH believes that Mormons are not Christians, Muslims are Nazis, and anyone who disagrees with him on Christianity should be insulted. He is more than deserving of the reference, because it’s evident he’s not entirely reconciled. Perhaps you are. However, ever Father Debski conceded that section of the Bible as being part of the Bible. My point that I have been trying to make all along is that it is not the book, but the follower, that makes the decision.

So why are you so apt to defend a bundle of paper? A good Muslim simply acknowledges the violent parts of the Koran, and refuses to live by them. You apparently have chosen to do the same. Defending those parts or pretending that they are not part of your holy text is unnecessary.

Did you even read my post? The reason the terrorists are allowed to exist, and gain traction among muslims are primarily because they are uneducated and are poor people who look for a scapegoat for their problems. Terrorists, dictators and the like give them the scapegoat in the USA, and gain support from the general population.

theregoestheneighborhood on January 20, 2008 at 11:04 PM

Very understandable; however, in this case that’s a non-starter: McCain ain’t got no money, his organization is weak, and besides the aberration here with the vets he’s proven time and time again he can’t pull the conservative votes when faced with an actual conservative opponent.

Seriously, if SC is conservative, then how can it have split the vote between the two patently least conservative candidates?

We are now left with the least of evils scenario, and unfortunately, the most of the evils will take place. McCain will probably coast to the nomination, and then find that the press (whose ***** he’s been *******) are not the friends he’s always thought they were. Never once did I mention terrorism before you interjected. I am not talking about terrorism, read my original post on the subject and the person i was responding to. It was about the fact that religions are easiest to manipulate and justify heinous crap when the people who practice it are poor and stupid. Its fine for terrorism to exist in Islam for example, because the majority of muslims are poor and stupid and are fed the idea that their plight is because of America, by terroristy types, which causes them to sympathize with terrorists and allow them to exist. To say economics has no effect on the violence of Islam is plain stupid. It has a HUGE part to do with it. Take for example, one of the only muslim countries which has figured out that being oil dependent isnt smart and where a gigantic amount of the wealthy live, Dubai. Dont see many attacks there, or people rioting in the streets or anything like that. Why did the muslims in france riot in the streets? Because they were poor and had nothing to do and were pissed off about it. Economics is everything. I could just as easily promote violence using the bible to a bunch of poor uneducated people than using the Quran, believe me.
