Brilliant! I enjoyed that!

Clever.

Love a good sense of humor.
PattyAnn on January 18, 2008 at 8:15 PM
Very Funny!
ihasurnominashun on January 18, 2008 at 8:15 PM
“STOP WHINING!”
…never gets old.
flyawaybird on January 18, 2008 at 8:15 PM
So is Mitt still the plastic man? LOL. He just hangs up.
BKennedy on January 18, 2008 at 8:16 PM
Wow! He really is always cool & collected.
No outward indication of frustration with a prank!
MsDollie on January 18, 2008 at 8:17 PM
Is it just me, or did Romney have…an iPhone?
Slublog on January 18, 2008 at 8:17 PM
Between Huck’s use of Chuck Norris and this little use of a soundboard, looks like the Republicans are starting to “get” internet humor and use it in their favor.
spmat on January 18, 2008 at 8:18 PM
LOL. That was great. Honestly, I’m LOL.
Mitt was really respectful until he figured out it was a prank. Something tells me Matt Romney’s sense of humor doesn’t line up 100% with dads’.
joncoltonis on January 18, 2008 at 8:20 PM
So what happened after?????
geckomon on January 18, 2008 at 8:20 PM
A point for Mitt.
BL@KBIRD on January 18, 2008 at 8:21 PM
Is it just me, or did Romney have…an iPhone?
Slublog on January 18, 2008 at 8:17 PM
ROFLMBO Now that’s funny right there. I don’t care who ya are.
oakpack on January 18, 2008 at 8:21 PM
Even if this was “managed”, I still liked it.
A little self deprecation is good.
gozips on January 18, 2008 at 8:24 PM
Now we just need a candidate that has heard this 10-15 year old prank done to someone else, and who can just run with it instead of just hanging up and attacking his sandwich.
muyoso on January 18, 2008 at 8:25 PM
Try it out on Hillary, maybe she’ll cry again.
gozips on January 18, 2008 at 8:28 PM
I’m more amazed that you can actually get to Mitt Romney himself without sceduling an appointment.
I guess it helps being the governor of another state, but even then you’d probably want to have more time and not be stuffing your face at the moment.
Btw, Romney eats burgers. Like, for real. None of this Nancy Pelosi “grilled mahi mahi with fugu sauce” crap.
BKennedy on January 18, 2008 at 8:29 PM
Funny but this is even funnier IMHO:

it’s not a tumor!
lorien1973 on January 18, 2008 at 8:40 PM
“Get to the chopper!”
Number 2 on January 18, 2008 at 8:44 PM
funny and humanizing. Play of the Day for Matt.
he went to the “who’s your daddy?” line too soon.
elsewise, he might have kept Mitt on the phone for
awhile longer to allow for even more jocularity.
Mike D. on January 18, 2008 at 8:50 PM
“You so funny I kill you last !”
William Amos on January 18, 2008 at 9:05 PM
Matts out of the will.
spacemonkey on January 18, 2008 at 9:10 PM
Princess Bride was funny, thanks sheryl.
PattyAnn on January 18, 2008 at 9:33 PM
not bad. if fred tanks in SC, I am “whit Mitt”
Dirthead on January 18, 2008 at 9:40 PM
That’s really funny. :-) Exit question: agreeing with “bipartisanship” and “progress” — will that cost him some voters?
Whatever, dude. That sounds fantastic! I mean… MAN WANT WOMAN MAKE STEAK NOW.
Mark Jaquith on January 18, 2008 at 9:54 PM
Hilarious! Still chuckling as I type. Those boys must have been a handful.
eucher on January 18, 2008 at 10:03 PM
dude…Mitt is cool!
very quick as well, I don’t think he was in on it either.
windansea on January 18, 2008 at 10:15 PM
sheryl, I’ve watched it 3 times and emailed the link. Still laughing.
PattyAnn on January 18, 2008 at 10:37 PM
Keep this stuff up boys and you will not only be in the White house for 8 years
- if you stick to conservatives principles -
…but you will also be liked by many and as such you will knock the conservative cause out of the ballpark and be able to take your good time in walking to homeplate, i.e., a legacy worth fighting for.
In this sound bite and despotic-role-model culture, people are yearning for humanity, something they can reach out and touch to confirm that, yes indeed, it is real.
KEEP. IT. REAL.
Mcguyver on January 18, 2008 at 10:48 PM
Can’t. Stop. Laughing! That should be run as a campaign spot. Very Funny.
“He’s just afraid to go outside ever since Huckabee pardoned all those murders”
Huckabee, Huckabee, Huckabee. ROFLMAO!
lan astaslem on January 18, 2008 at 10:57 PM
Cheeseburger and fries, $8.95
Presidential Campaign, $100,000,000
A prank phone call from the Governator setup by your Harvard educated son…….. priceless.
JeffinOrlando on January 18, 2008 at 11:01 PM
It is not Iphone. Mitt has a Blackberry Curve 8310. I also Recommend it.
mr.nice on January 18, 2008 at 11:18 PM
Loved when he set the phone down and attacked his sandwich!
Domino on January 19, 2008 at 12:30 AM
Glad you liked the Princess Bride link PattyAnn and Ian.
The voiceover acting is perfect….it’s classic!
sheryl on January 19, 2008 at 12:49 AM
Dang I love pranks. Video, you’re gold.
Ok OK OK. Mitt, you’re pretty cool too.
RushBaby on January 19, 2008 at 3:47 AM
That was funny.
If that had been McCain, he probably would have ripped his son’s lungs out.
AZCoyote on January 19, 2008 at 8:49 AM
Too bad they didn’t get Edwards with that. Soon as the “who’s your daddy” part came up, I’d love to see him go into his millworker schtick!
scottm on January 19, 2008 at 9:33 AM
I am not even a Mitt supporter, but I thought that was really funny.
ConservativePartyNow on January 19, 2008 at 10:30 AM
Is this how the Romney family pranks each other? Wow, what bad asses. /sarcasm
Ian on January 19, 2008 at 11:50 AM
They’ve GOT to edit out that phone number.
Ludwig on January 19, 2008 at 11:53 AM
I’m pretty sure his secretary or someone already pre-dialed the number and he just did it for dramatic effect.
Ian on January 19, 2008 at 1:00 PM
Nope. I called the number. (I have Adobe Audition, which lets you create and compare phone-tones).
The guy who answered was not amused that I’d gotten the number.
Unfortunately the only way to prove it is to put the # here, which I won’t do. My reason for calling them was to make them aware that the number was out there on the internet!
Ludwig on January 19, 2008 at 1:43 PM
The prank was obviously as real as Romney’s passion for hunting and his marches with MLK.
And he still never even cracked a smile. To call him thick and humorless is an insult to the thick and the humorless.
Worse yet, its an ancient stolen prank – and the original versions are actually funnier:
They should have gone with Duke Nukem:
Now that’s funny.
The other candidates’ would all have handled it better (and funnier). Huck would have actually gotten the joke. Fred would have made a better joke in return. And McCain would have threatened the guy with bodily harm.
I can’t believe I’m going to vote for this empty suit. Even his jokes are lame.
Professor Blather on January 19, 2008 at 2:40 PM
No, a BlackBerry 8310. Real men use a BlackBerry ;)
fourstringfuror on January 19, 2008 at 2:58 PM
They should have included phrases such as:
“You lack discipline.”
“THERE IS NO BATHROOM!”
And who can forget..
“You son of a b!tch!!!”
Dr.Cwac.Cwac on January 19, 2008 at 4:44 PM
This just in, Matt disinherited.
2Tru2Tru on January 19, 2008 at 6:07 PM
John McCain responds to the Romney sense of humor – “while Governor Romney’s son is playing phone jokes on his father, my son is serving in Iraq for all of us here at home. I’m John McCain, and I approved this message.”
McCain for President! (of Mexico)
JeffinOrlando on January 19, 2008 at 8:27 PM
OK, I now feel much less bad this morning, but that doesn’t mean I’m jumping on the Romney bandwagon just yet.
