Downfall: Der Fuhrer faces the Cowboys’ playoff loss

posted at 1:58 pm on January 18, 2008 by Bryan

We have to set aside the obvious historical inaccuracy of Hitler being a Cowboy fan. Hitler loving America’s Team, the team of Staubach and Landry? Get real. Everyone knows he would have been a Raiders fan on the AFC side and an Eagle man on the NFC side. That’s just obvious.

Content warning, because Hitler in defeat is Hitler in full-on pottymouthed rant mode.

Update: Jessica Simpson, Super Villain.

“Ever since I was a little girl growing up in football-obsessed Texas, it’s been a dream of mine to completely bring the evil, arrogant Cowboys organization and its boorish and cocky fans to their knees. But the suave and sophisticated players on that team are nigh-unapproachable for a nice country girl like me,” Simpson declared from her Throne of Thorns, situated in the surveillance room of her headquarters. “And then I saw Tony. Instantly I knew that he was the weak link, the keystone, the only one for me to exploit.”

Ok, as someone that grew up in a home where we answered “Cowboys fan” on the religion question on the census, that was funny.

What was the original from?

tlclark on January 18, 2008 at 2:07 PM

i haven’t even watched it, but i can already tell you that the original parody in which hitler is complaining about microsft yanking his xbox live account for playing with a modded console was funnier.

jummy on January 18, 2008 at 2:07 PM

Yeah, definitely the Raiders. Ol’ Adolf would love the black and silver uniforms.

btw Downfall is a brilliant movie. You get used to the German subtitles after a while. I highly recommend it.

Hopefully he will have the same kind of rant over Hillary’s loss in the general election.

inchdeep on January 18, 2008 at 2:12 PM

“Downfall” was a fascinating movie, the way “based on a true story” movies should be. If Hollywood made it, everyone would speak English with a bad German accent. And they’d probably have Owen Wilson playing Hitler with a Sharpie mustache.

Pasalubong on January 18, 2008 at 2:14 PM

That pretty amusing. Why is it now that everyone’s favorite verbal slip is the word “loose” in place of the word “lose”? Did I miss a memo? It’s in this clip, and it’s in the comments here all the time too, so it’s not an isolated incident.

Weak plot – No references to Vick
No mention of referees stealing the game
The scenery sucked and the musical score was non existent.
This should put it at the top of the Oscar race.

AP, you gotta check out that Rosie O artwork link upstairs. Now we know what it’s like to fly inside that skull of hers. Huge eyes following you everywhere. Gobs and gobs of bright, mismatched colors spinning like tops. Dark, dangerous images at every turn…like men and priests. Ah, the horror

If any doubt that Hitler was supremely evil, just look at his wish for the Patriots to go all the way now that the Cowboys are out. Hitler is right about one thing though, it’s all Jessica Simpson’s fault.

thekingtut on January 18, 2008 at 3:04 PM

Better watch it fast – Constantin Film just yanked the Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD version. The Cowboys might not be far behind.

CK MacLeod on January 18, 2008 at 3:06 PM

So Hitler roots for a team from Bush’s home state? Maybe there’s something to this “Bush is Hitler” bull[bleep] after all.

Bigfoot on January 18, 2008 at 3:06 PM

After last season, and the fumble against Seattle it wasn’t that big of a shock to see Tony choke in the playoffs. T.O. will hopefully be back so he can wear the jersey next year. I can only laugh at the lose now though, just a little.

koolbrease on January 18, 2008 at 3:10 PM

Sheer brilliance. And absolute factual accuracy as well. Except the part about the Cowboys never losing to the Eagles.

Dudley Smith on January 18, 2008 at 3:17 PM

JetBoy on January 18, 2008 at 3:41 PM

Start cringing dear JetBoy……….

The Dallas Cowboys are America’s Team, America’s Team, America’s Team, America’s Team, America’s Team, America’s Team, America’s Team, America’s Team, America’s Team, America’s Team, America’s Team, America’s Team….

SouthernPride on January 18, 2008 at 3:46 PM

I beg to differ on just who is America’s Team. Despite the worst efforts of Fox and CBS before them, it still is the Green Bay Packers.

Still, I can easily see Hitler rooting for the Raiders. In the NFC, he’d be rooting for the Bears, or perhaps the Vikings.

steveegg on January 18, 2008 at 3:53 PM

“If Hollywood made it, everyone would speak English with a bad German accent.”

There was a version of the same basic material with Anthony Hopkins as Hitler. It was a US television movie, “The Bunker”, from 1981. Hopkins didn’t use a bad German accent, he adopted a neutral, commanding version of his normal voice. From what I have seen on Youtube his performance is hard to judge – he seemed ridiculous, camp, and over-the-top, but then again so did Hitler.

Apeking on January 18, 2008 at 3:54 PM

And there was the 1973 film “Hitler: The Last Ten Days”, with Alec Guinness. There is also a clip on Youtube; it is essentially the same scene as above. Guinness is Guinness, and it’s hard to hear him as Hitler without thinking about Obi-Wan Kenobi (“Who’s the more foolish: The fool, or the fool who follows him?”).

Apeking on January 18, 2008 at 4:00 PM

jummy on January 18, 2008 at 4:06 PM

Hitler would love the Patriots because they have a Hitler Youth as their QB. He’d just hate their name, he’d probably call them “the Nationalists” or something like that.

I agree, he’d hate the Cowboys.

Patriots cheat!

JetBoy on January 18, 2008 at 4:35 PM

The Patriots’ only crime is getting caught, the tape was taken before it could even be used, and reviewing tapes of a game after the game is standard practice. The cheating part was just taping it from the sidelines, and it offers no competitive advantage. Why do you think teams change their play signals, have false signals, etc? Because they know such a practice has been used before, long before the start of Football season 07-08.

Jets suck!

BKennedy on January 18, 2008 at 4:43 PM

Jets suck!

Just not quite as much as the Dolphins. But the Dolphins have a reasonable expectation of getting better. So that’s one thing the Jets have in common with the Patriots. Neither team is going to get a whole lot better anytime soon.

Pablo on January 18, 2008 at 5:22 PM

BKennedy on January 18, 2008 at 4:43 PM

You guys have more excuses for that…and no, not everybody tapes the other teams signals. And apparently the commish didn’t see it as any small matter…

As for the Jets sucking, I wish I could argue that…but I’m a realist *sigh*
