Tried a few times to post All I can say is John boy is not the POW’s best friend. I am a vet and yes I respect his service , however usuing it to suck off the government dime for the last 30 + years and not do all he could to help the POW’s or disabled vets is discusting.

I respect McCain’s service to our country.

What I don’t respect is his inclusion in the Keating 5 and Gang of 14, nor do I respect his views on amnesty for illegals, his vote against the Bush tax cuts, McCainFeingold, his views on man-made global warming, and any of his other “rino” policies. If we put a liberal like McCain up against Hillary or Barack, we’re going to get Hillary or Barack. McCain is too polarizing.

I am so tired of the “hold your nose and vote” attitude that goes on in our republican party. McCain is a backstabbing little man, and I seriously doubt that I would vote for him if he were the nominee. Of course, I can sit on that high horse, since I am in California, and my vote won’t count anyway.

Let’s be honest. Getting shot down over enemy territory doesn’t make you a hero, nor does it make you a military expert. It doesn’t confer honesty, intelligence nor economic insight upon the individual.

After recently reading that this son and grandson of Admirals received 28 medals for 20 hours of combat flying prior to being shot down, and that this was the 5th plane that he lost, I don’t think his status as POW buys him anything except my sympathy and thanks for his TRYING to serve.

Juan McCain knows the American people do not want amnesty, but he will force it down our throats if elected. No doubt. Sorry if being a POW qualifies someone to be president. It deserves our respect, but to turn the country over to someone who has proven without a doubt he is going to do it his way and the people be damned is insanity.

I know McCain can’t, as Russert said, raise his arms above his shoulders today. But the film footage of his return from Hanoi clearly shows him saluting, raising his right arm much higher than he can today. Just wondering. Is it because of subsequent surgeries or something?

I would, if the Republican choices are Huckabee or McCain.

Remember what a fight it was going against Bush, McCain, and Graham last year? Do you want to do that again? If a Dem had been pushing that plan, a lot more Republicans would have taken a stand against just to be adversarial. If we’re going to have a liberal, nanny-stater, and/or open-borders type in the WH, I want the Dems to take the blame for it, and I want the GOP united to fight against it.

Yes,

I tend to agree with this, but there’s a slight difference.

McCain comes from a family of High Ranking Military men…And he, himself, is a graduate of the Naval Academy

When it’s all said n’ done, McCain has much more credibility, than Kerry.

His background may give him an advantage, were he delegating Commanders.

I’m a Fred! guy…But, I’m jes’ sayin’.

McCain is not strong on things like waterboarding. Despite what the Left and McCain say (notice how fluidly those two go together), “torture” (ie waterboarding/stress positions/sleep deprivation) IS VERY effective. And this is from people I serve with who have been “tortured” by the controversial ‘techniques’ John McCain opposes.
My view: If you can do it to your own people in training and they are not irrepairably harmed… it’s probably not torture.

McCain is STILL for amnesty — he just doesn’t like to call it that (because he knows that the majority of the American people oppose it). McCain prefers to use the euphemism “path to citizenship” instead of the politically toxic term “amnesty.” But make no mistake, they are essentially the same. Both reward illegal aliens for their law-breaking by granting them the right to remain legally in this country. McCain says he “gets it” now — that he now understands that Americans want the border secured “first” (before any massive amnesty grants). But that is NOT want Americans want. We want the border secured, period, and NO AMNESTY afterwards . . . ever. Just like Teddy Kennedy promised us in 1986 when he pushed for the first amnesty bill — you remember, the one that was supposed to give amnesty to 1.1 million (but ended up actually giving it to more than twice that “estimated” number), and was going to be a one-time, never to be repeated event.

I have major issues with Mccain. But it comes down to what is most ipmortant to me. It’s the war against the radical islamofacists. On that Mccain is strong.On that he is as strong as anyone else. So if he gets the nomination I will glady pull the lever for him over any Dim candidate.

I was in the military and I won’t vote for McCain just because of his service. Millions of Americans served honorably in the military and they’re not qualified to represent conservatives in the White House either. Voting, or not voting, for him has nothing to do with patriotism. That’s what his campaign wants us to think.

That fact of the matter is that he trampled on the Constitution twice as a Senator and co-authored the infamous Amnesty Bill of ‘07. If he wants to be a Democrat, he should be running as one.

Everyone already knows that McCain was a prisoner or war. The theatrical video only insults my intelligence, but then I realize that it’s not targeted at the intelligent amoung us.

First let me say WOW. This issue of McCain has really caused a division here among a lot of people who are more or less patriotic and conservative to varying degrees. I concur on the following points.
1. John Mcain served honorably in the US Navy (Just like I did!)
2. He was not the best officer ever not succeeding as well as his Father or Grandfather (though I am sure his POW injuries played a major part in that.
3. Yes I feel the tug on the heart strings for a fellow comrade in arms and what he went through
4. Yes John McCain is severely lacking in conservative priciples
5. I will not allow my emotions to override my logic when choosing the candidate I am voting for (Right now it is Fred, If on the off chance Fred is unable to surge back, then perhaps Romney, after that Constitution party Candidate).
6. But no matter how I feel about his politics, I will not call him names and I will not denigrate his service..I will defend that with my dying breath he is after all a fellow American Veteran who comes from a family that has given more service to this country than most…all the way back to George Washington and the War of Independence

Seriously, I am all about the respect he deserves for being a pow and surviving.

I get it.

But that has absolutely nothing to do with him as a conservative and him as a leader.

And if he has to resort to playing the vet card as his primary hope of election that says something of his abilitites.

If he is nominated, I may hold my nose and vote for him. Maybe.

But I may abstain for the first time too. I don’t like him and I don’t trust him.
