Instant runoff voting (http://www.instantrunoff.com/) allows people to vote their consience without all the calculations or fear of throughing their vote away.

I am thankful the Democrats did not do this in 2004. Dick Gephart would have defeated Bush. Kerry was able to win the nomination with less than 20% support coming out of Iowa.

Instant runoff voting requires that voters ‘rank order’ the candidates. If no candidate emerges with a majority, the candidate with the fewest votes gets dropped off the list and the ballots are tallied again. This is repeated until one candidate emerges with a majority.

I heard they score badly in education (as a state) but maybe someone just spiked their water with a big dose of “stupid”. Seems like we have some “willing suspension of disbelief” going on in SC.

My prediction? Fred will finish second in SC, which is what he needs to keep going. I’d love a first place finish (which is possible), but I know we’ll have four in real tight there and I think McCain will squeak by with the overall win. However, as tight as it is, I won’t be shocked wherever Fred does end up. Huckabee’s campaign (and his own words) seem to be hurtng him there, but we’ll see.

Um, no he didn’t. He was married to his first wife for 26 years before they divorced in 1985. He met Jeri in 1996 and married her in 2002 – leaving an 11 year gap in between relationships. Go here for details. If you want to talk about someone having an affair and leaving their wife, talk about Rudy.

I’m shocked, to be honest. No irony. I just had figured Romney as the Wall Street candidate to have the support he does. I mean, he’s not solid or historically consistant on issues that conservatives say they care about. Rudy and Fred have been much clearer on specifics.

Romney’s been running at least twice as long as Fred, but his positions are still dicey, at least on taxes. But the supposedly “conservative” punditocracy supports Romney.

LIke I said, a cipher. Do they want somebody who they can pressure to “change” once in office? Fred probably wouldn’t be the man for them in that case.

Sure, idealism is great—-until reality intrudes.

We are using this hearts and minds campaign in Africa and it’s working very well.

This primary season, relatively speaking, has just begun. But Fred is now up against the wall. How can we expect him to have done much better than he has to date with everyone prattling on about the overwhelming odds against him?

Lesse:

Mitt has been in the lead once (by single digits) in the national polls.

JMac was almost knocked off the radar before coming back.

Huck started with nothing and still managed to win a state.

Rudy, like Fred, started big but failed to maintain visibility.

Poor Fred, lets have a crying session! The media is so unfair to Fred! How can he date with that evil media that NEVER picks on anyone else! Boo Hoo! Media Bias! Mitt Romney’s Hair!

Suck. It. Up. Fredheads. Fred has roasted his own hide, and when he loses SC tommorrow, probably with a strong second or single digits difference third, it will prove that he just doesn’t have the managerial skill to run a campaign, never mind operate the most powerful position in the free world.

As much as I love Fred…I feel that Romney can stimulate the economy. The economy is my #1 issue. My mutual funds just tanked this week. I’m considering pulling them out.

If you really think that will endear him to the women’s vote I’d have to say you don’t understand women very well. There has been a fifty percent divorce rate in the country. Do you really think women are going to look at Fred and say “I like this guy – kind of like my first husband.”?

It is hard to admit that the guy you back is just not cutting the mustard but try to be objective when assessing where he wins states.

I disagree. Three reasons. 1) Freds comment about his life as a single politician in Washington (Women chased him and he chased women…pretty bold statement!) 2) His ability to win over a very attractive female twenty or so years his junior…who as far as we know he has been faithful to (oh and don’t forget his two adorable little children…pulling at the heartstrings of soccer moms everywhere!!!! 3) Real women (er intelligent ones) know a real man twenty seconds after he opens his mouth! (Women may have their little social bonds but they’ll stab their girlfriends in the back to win, protect, or straighten out a real man they wnat to have in their lives)

The failure of the Fred campaign says more about the insane circumstances we are in than Fred himself. Fred is reluctant to president, because it is a tremendous burden if you are intelligent. We can’t help but admit that for the last twenty years we have have barely sentient creatures for president. (I’m not going to try to explain Reagan here.) The point I’m trying to make is a point the Founding Fathers understood well. Only people reluctant to become president deserve to be President. Fred’s reluctance is exactly why he should be president instead of the arrogant, empty headed person who seems likely to become the president–regardless of the party he or she is from.

Look at what being president does to a man. When Billy Boy Clinton took office he was young, spry and full of piss and vinegar. By the time he left office he was an old man who looked beyond his age and has a heart problem. The stress of the job is incredible and Clinton was the party hardy president. The same has happened to George W, look at pictures. The person who really wants this job is on a power trip and is already in over his head. Fred exemplifies a true leader by showing his knowledge of what being president does to a man.

I think it’s only fair that we conservatives get to decide what the liberals must do:

** I think Hillary MUST throw Bill out to regain the womens’ vote.

** I think Obama MUST renounce the teachers’ union and strongly advocate vouchers in order to regain the black vote.

** I think Edwards (aka Silky) MUST renounce legal tyranny, turn in his law license, and advocate tort reform in order to regain the sane vote.
