Pro-Huck push poll: McCain supports experiments on unborn children

Nothing to do with the Huckabee campaign, of course. Just those madcap Huck supporters at TrustHuckabee.com, framing McCain’s support of stem-cell research as tantamount to Nazi-esque vivisections of screaming infants on operating room tables. Can’t wait for the debate in the comments.
Fred’s hammering Huck for the push polls, but to what effect? Two new surveys show him stuck in fourth — Rasmussen, where he’s two points behind Romney for third, and MSNBC, where he’s also two points behind — with less than half the vote total of the frontrunner, McCain, although the fact that Mitt’s evidently preparing to skip SC means there could be a late bleed from him to Thompson. Exit question: Assuming he can’t win the state, what margin would he need as the second-place finisher to limp on to Florida? I don’t think he can win there without a win in SC but his staffers may disagree, so it’s worth thinking about. 3%? 5%?

He needs to win SC. No second. He loses in FL otherwise to Romney and others, who’s in it for the long run.

The modern day Pharisee strikes again.
Matthew 7:21-23.
21
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, 10 but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.
22
Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?’
23
Then I will declare to them solemnly, ‘I never knew you. 11 Depart from me, you evildoers.’

Gosh, didn’t Huckster take donations from a diabetes research firm which uses embryonic stem cells? But, wasn’t that also hidden in the front company he uses to hide his tobacco company money?

If there’s any ambiguity at all in the results Saturday night, the numbers Fred will be looking at next will probably be the ones that have “$” not “%” next to them.

Huckster also took donations from Tyson Foods.

With rhetoric like this, Huckabee better hope God is as generous with pardons as the High Reverend was when he was governor of Arkansas.

So we have fliers attempting to smear McCain. Push polls against McCain and Thompson. Any word on any underhanded tactics being employed against the Huckster?
Just asking because A) I want to be fair about it and B) I wish to confirm or deny that all of this smear campaigning is coming from one camp.

And here Huck’s been trying ever so hard to put a stop to it too. If we’re going to jump on Ron Paul for not distancing himself from scum (and I’m perfectly comfortable with that), then there’s no reason not to apply the same standard to the Huckster. How about some public repudiation of these tactics from God’s Chosen Candidate? Anything less is tacit approval.

I’m not sure he or his staffers agree or not, but I think it would have to be a near tie if it’s not a win. No more than 2%, and preferably less.
Unfortunately it’s looking like he won’t do better than third, and if he does somehow manage to pull off 2nd it would be a relatively distant one.
Beyond that, I just want to see the Huckster lose- even if that means McCain wins (( shudder )).
Hollowpoint on January 17, 2008 at 4:58 PM
I’d be interested to see if HotAir’s resident Hyperactive Chihuahua of Huckabee Fever could weigh in on these base tactics being waged on the part of God’s Own Candidate.
And, if not, and if unable to say one sane, sensible thing regarding that matter, I will become convinced that said individual is either a campaign plant or a leftist pretending to support Huckabee because he knows he would be the weakest GOP candidate, bar none, for the Democrats to defeat.

Exit question response. Fred got 13.4% in Iowa (3rd place only a few hundred votes ahead of McCain). He got 1.2% in NH (6th place, behind Ron Paul). And he got 3.7% in Michigan (5th place, again behind Ron Paul). To stay viable at the very, very, very least Fred needs to beat Paul and get more than 10% of the vote. Another single digit finish behind Ron Paul would make him a laughing stock. But that kind of bare minimum showing is still pitiful.
Romney keeps talking about Gold and Silver. Fred would be happy for Bronze in SC but there is no medal for 4th. Can Fred limp into FL when his best showing was 3rd in Iowa 4 weeks earlier? I think that’s quite tough.

Shadowy groups backing him are.
They’re deliberately deceptive, usually unfair, and not polls at all but smear campaigns. Why would His Holiness not protest at people doing such things in his name?
Oh, you know him, he backs off of them at the last minute, then shows them anyway. Kind of like the girl who thinks she’s still a virgin because she said ‘no’ the first time.
And if he doesn’t disavow what others do in his name, he IS running push polls.
Frankly, if someone did that odious in my name, I’d have their hides.
Show me the negative stories. Go right ahead.
And if Reagan were alive today, he’d drive Huckabee from the party. Huckabee is Carter, not Reagan. How, exactly, is Huckabee at all like Reagan?

Huckabee more like Reagan than any candidate running!
Ronald Reagan’s sincere and very vocal faith was the defining aspect of his presidency.
It was due to his his tremendous faith that we united as a country and defeated the communist russians.
What we need now more than ever is a honest and independent politician who is willing and able to hear and react to the will of God!
We need a uniter that will bring in democrats and independents and conservatives and defeat the leftist Godless democrats!
HaraldHardrada on January 17, 2008 at 5:35 PM
Then Huckleberry should be proud to step up to the plate and admit this is being done with his blessing. Why should he not? See, it’s a bit like many issues,..if the end justifies the means, the whole thing gets a bit tainted. Snipers shooting physicians who perform abortions, or blowing up clinics, comes to mind. Code Pink is another example.

Really? I’m not being snarky. Is it really illegal? Just illegal in SC? Is it a state law? How does that reconcile with the First Amendament? Well, if so I don’t like it.

Jimmy Carter taught Sunday School, and still might, for all I know…but he still takes time out to kiss the tuckus of all manner of communist/socialist dictator anywhere he can find them. He also aquiesced in the face of evil wherever it opposed this country.
Reagan seldom went to church.
Reagan’s grounding philosophy was ‘That government governs best that governs least.’ This is far and away from any of Huckabee’s positions…at least, until he flip-flopped to new ones recently in the heat of this campaign. Huckabee represents the power of government to rework all manner of things, not to just get out of the way, as Reagan espoused, but for government to get in there, tamper, take over, and make the decisions for things as Huck sees fit. This AIN’T Reagan, and you need to understand how uninformed you are if you think any other way.

Another big difference between Reagan, Carter and Huckabee:
Jimmy Carter shot a cat.
Huck blocked an investigation of his son for hanging a dog.
Reagan, as far as we know, never killed any pets.
Laura on January 17, 2008 at 6:04 PM
Nope. It was because of Reagan’s deep conservative principles–something Huck wouldn’t understand if it bit him in the behind. Reagan had faith in the spirit of the American people. He had faith in the superiority and rightness of conservatism and free market capitalism as guiding philosophies. He had faith in the Constitution. He also had Christian faith, but he did not attempt to impose it on the nation or the world. He knew how to separate his personal spiritual faith from governing with a sense of moral rightness. Again, something Huckabee does not seem to understand or appreciate.
You can’t be for real.

I love the claim that Huckabee is somehow impeding Fred Thompson’s path, and if he were out of the race, Fred would be able to claim his rightful place atop the Republican Party. I’ve been hearing this more and more over the past few days as Fred supporters begin to digest the fact that he will finish either 3rd or 4th in SC, effectively ending is campaign. I’m thoroughly entertained.

Again, you throw these dismal things out but have no inkling of what you’re dealing with.
Huckabee takes Reagan’s words, inserts his around them. Yet, they do not stand for the same things. You really don’t understand this, do you?
Reagan talked about the greatness of the American people when government stops getting in their way. Huckabee talks about how the government can make Americans great.
Reagan said “Government is not the solution to our problems. Government IS THE PROBLEM,” and that is a quote. How can you reconcile Huckabee to THAT?

Over the past year, I’ve heard so-called “true conservatives” complaining that Giuliani is not a social conservative, and declaring that they could not vote for him even while he was pledging to accommodate them, based on the fact that he’s been married three times or some crap like that. Revenge of the Big Tent, my friend. I happen to find it very funny.
