Huck hucks up again, says he would ban pretty much all political speech unless it’s kid tested and candidate approved

Well, no wonder the Huckabee people like McCain so much. When it comes to free speech, they’re both agin’ it.
I personally wish that all of this was outlawed. I think that every candidates should speak for themselves, and that every thing that involves the candidate’s name or another candidate’s name should be authorized and approved by that candidate, otherwise it shouldn’t be spoken….
The point is that candidates can’t force these special interest 527 groups to stop. I wish we could.
The “this” that Huckabee wishes was outlawed is push polling, but he takes the riff much farther than that with the “every thing that involves a candidate’s name…should be approved by the candidate” line. It doesn’t take a Constitutional scholar to see that that would mean the end of the First Amendment, at least in a political context. But since we’re on the McCain-Feingold free speech slip n slide, we might as well just get a good run and dive in head first. At least that’s what Huck seems to think.
But don’t worry. By tomorrow he’ll have signed a pledge promising to protect the First Amendment as his bff. Because he’s tough. And smart. And not winging his entire frakkin campaign at all.

I understand your point. I agree with some of what you said, but legitimate questions about one’s faith should not be out of bounds. How about the Church Obama is affliated with and his Pastor’s link to jew-hater farrakhan? Or what about Joseph Smith the founder of Mormonism. Research him. That guy stole from the Bible, he ripped it off to make his own religion.
I’m not saying any of us are perfect, we are all sinful, I’m horribly sinful, but isn’t any of this relevant especially if you’re going to elect the President???? Why is Huck’s religion the focus and not the others?? And no.. Huck didn’t make it a religious debate.

Do you ever examine how you KNOW that the bible is the be all end all word of god? Can you explain why if you were born somewhere else, how you would believe in something completely different, and KNOW it to be true? You claim to be a Christian, yet are one of the most intolerant men I can imagine. You point out flaws in other religions, can you answer for the flaws of your own?

You want to create a holy war against the muslims, where all of the world will side with them since they know the horrors of what holy wars bring? You want to unite all the muslim countries against the USA? You want to bring an end to the US economy, by completely shutting off all of our energy supply? Sounds rational

Out of consideration for sane Christians I did not quote Thomas Jefferson in full either, so in the interest of full quoting, just for you, I will do so now with what I left out set in bold.
Enjoy.
I have examined all the known superstitions of the world and I do not find in our particular superstition of Christianity one redeeming feature. They are all alike founded on fables and mythology. Millions of innocent men, women, and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined, and imprisoned. What has been the effect of this coercion? To make one half the world fools and the other half hypocrites; to support roguery and error all over the earth. The clergy converted the simple teachings of Jesus into an engine for enslaving mankind to filch wealth and power to themselves. They, in fact, constitute the real Anti-Christ.

Muyoso the muslim Hillary supporter claims Christianity is flawed…
HaraldHardrada on January 18, 2008 at 1:06 AM
I answered your legitimate questions re: faith here.
Look, I think there is a natural defensiveness to Huck supporters. Meaning people like me like to look at the nuts and bolts. So we look at Iowa and say – hey Huck got a lot of Evangelical voters. I don’t support Huck, but that doesn’t mean I think Iowa voters are idiots. But there is a natural conversation about religion vis a vis Huck because many of his supporters characterize themselves as (in increasing order of importance) Republican, conservative, Christian, Evangelical. Would you rather be termed as a Republican (assuming) or a Christian (again assuming)? I’d guess Christian.
Now Huck DID bring it into the political dialogue. HE claimed that his theological degree (which he doesn’t have, a lie in other words) helps him to better understand Islam. HE brought that up. HE is the one that says Christians have been ‘ignored’ in the R coalition. HE brought that up. HE is the one that runs around saying things like people clogging phone lines are doing the “Lord’s work” (seriously, doesn’t that make your skin crawl as a Christian?) I don’t understand how you square the idea he is a great guy when he won’t stop illegal push polling, etc.
Again, his RELIGION is not a focus with me. I have NO problem with his religion! I do have a problem when HE uses his religion to say his SOUL won’t let him enforce immigration law. All the sudden I’m supposed to believe his new immigration policy? That would mean he is turning his back on God, no? And that makes him honorable? Look the guy is a great speaker. And he deserves mucho props for staying by Israel. Great man? Eh….what does the Book say about he who rules his own house well? Compare Huck’s sons to Romneys and tell me what the Book says about by their fruits.

The first five books of the Bible, edited by Moses at God’s direction, are called “the Law” (Matthew 7:12; Luke 24:4) and they just so happen to be the foundation of the American legal system. In Genesis 9:6 God commissioned human government to carry out those laws. Government was not formed to change God’s laws but rather to enforce them.
In 1846 the Supreme Court of South Carolina declared: “Christianity is a part of the common law of the land, with liberty of conscience to all. It has always been so recognized… it is the foundation of those morals and manners upon which our society is formed; it is their basis. Remove this and they would fall. The U.S. Supreme Court in 1892 ruled –”Our laws and institutions must necessarily be based upon the teachings of the Redeemer of Mankind. It is impossible that it should be otherwise; and in this sense and to this extent our civilization and our institutions are emphatically Christian.” Again the Supreme Court in 1952 stated: “We are a religious people whose institutions all presuppose a Supreme Being …”
These quotations are representative of many which support the facts; that this is supposed to be a Constitutional Republic – based entirely upon Christian principles – with no separation of Church and State. Our very form of government and legal system were formed from, and based on, God’s natural law and the Bible

Russian President Vladimir Putin is very busy courting Islamic leaders and threatening the West. First it was a $1 billion arms deal with Iran last fall. A $1 billion arms deal with the Saudis. Then missile sales to Syria. Then arms sales to Hamas. Iranian leader Ahmadinejad has been telling colleagues the end of the world is just two or three years away, and that the way to hasten the coming of the Islamic Messiah is to launch a war to destroy Israel first. Believe me, this is not idle chatter. Ahmadinejad is convinced Israel can be wiped out. These nations (Russians and the Arabs) are aligning themselves in preparation for an attack on Israel. It’s not a matter if this war will happen… but, when!

What influence in fact have Christian ecclesiastical establishments had on civil society? In many instances they have been upholding the thrones of political tyranny. In no instance have they been seen as the guardians of the liberties of the people Rulers who wished to subvert the public liberty have found in the clergy convenient auxiliaries. A just government, instituted to secure and perpetuate liberty, does not need the clergy.

Are you ignorant or intentionally being dishonest? There was freedom of worship because there was no separation of church and state!
Even Jefferson, who called for a day of fasting in ‘73 in the Virgina house running up to the war, would not do so at the Federal level. Madison, who did so often in the early part of his administration, also came to the same conclusion and decided it was extremely unwise to do so. Adams ridiculed Quakers who attempted to affect business which they ‘knew nothing about’ (government) and Washington too had small patience with those who thought to influence the government from the pulpit.

Freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Absolutely!!
But, they never answered my question about Mormonism. See anytime Romney’s side has to explain things we get attacked for being intolerant. That’s rubbish!! What is done to my Lord by the Mormon doctrine goes well beyond a different interpretation. It’s sickening. It angers me greatly. The entire character of God is changed by the LDS Church (He is just one of many gods, but he is only special because he is our god), along with the denial of the virgin birth (Jesus, just as his flesh brother Satan, was literally begotten when god-as-man had intercourse with Mary), the changing of the divinity of Christ (not all sins are forgiven by Him), and a twisted idea of salvation through works (perfect adherence can bring godhood to man). And to make matters worse, good Mormon folks have no clue why Christians are genuinely shocked by any of this. I believe they genuinely believe it’s a personal attack to question their Mormon beliefs as a cult – and if I didn’t read the LDS Church doctrine either, I might honestly feel the same way. Folks, it’s doctrinal, not personal.

On one hand there is everything we know to be scientifically accurate, there is ample evidence and it ALL adds up. There is carbon dating, there is the moon, there is plate tectonics, there are millions of skeletons. And on the other hand you have the bibles account of around 6000 years. As a christian, if you answer anything other than 6000 years, you are declaring the bible as not an accurate account of the world, you are declaring the word of God, wrong. But if you answer 6000, years, you are stuck with the fact that you deny about a vast majority of modern science. So I will ask it again, how old do you think the earth is? I will reply to your hilarious evolution comment after you answer.

People keep making the point that there is no religious test for them to run for President. I agree. But, then they go one step further to insinuate they don’t care if a candidate believes that the Earth was created by the Flying Spaghetti Monster, so long as what he intends to do while President is in line with their views of how government best operates. I’m saying that’s crazy!!!
If that’s the case they would vote for a Muslim, right? I said look up the word “Al Takiyah,” “Takia,” or “Al-Taqiyah”. The Islamic concept of Al-Taqiyah is to infiltrate and destroy infidel countries. The Quran allows Muslims to lie to spread their religion. It would be crazy to elect a Muslim as President of the United States!!
Secondly, Romney’s lies with his buddy Glenn Beck. He’s lying through his teeth and calling Christians “bigots” for wanting a comprehensive answer to the question, do Mormons believe Jesus and Satan are brothers?” Frankly, if I were sitting there and asked the same question, my response would have been, “Didn’t Mormons believe, until a supposed change of view in 1978, that blacks are inferior, cursed by God and ineligible for the Mormon priesthood?”
Whatever, I do care if a candidate believes that the Earth was created by the Flying Spaghetti Monster
apacalyps on January 18, 2008 at 1:54 AM
Let’s recap here, son.
I said that Huckabee was not Jesus and, therefore I’m not bound to listen to him in order to be a Christian.
You ignored that and changed the subject to Mormons. When I didn’t give you the answer you wanted there, you said that I should re-think things before I doubt Huckabee’s faith.
When I pointed out that I mentioned nothing about Huckabee’s faith, you began to drop ridiculous remarks about my lack of knowledge of Mormons–a lack which I couldn’t care less about.
Therefore, either you think Huckabee’s the Second Coming or you have a case of ADD requiring extra-strength Ritalin. If it’s the latter, an adult would admit to making a mistake and apologize (if such a thing can hold your attention long enough).
If it’s former, then you have issues that even Ritalin won’t cure.

Joking about a serious matter. Would you elect a Muslim as President of the United States?
apacalyps on January 18, 2008 at 2:13 AM
Tuco may be crazy but Tuco will have to run very fast to catch up to you.
Tuco on January 18, 2008 at 2:14 AM
Don’t be a complete lunatic.

I want to make it clear. I love all people.
The good Lord Jesus said, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” Matthew 22:37-40
We try to follow the so-called Golden rule of conduct:
A”Judge not, that ye be not judged.” Matthew 7:1
But, there are evil cultures in this world. I don’t hate people, it’s dangerous cultures that are destroying Western Civillization that I am concerned about. What you fail to understand is that the Judeo-Christian values that gave birth to YOUR Western Civilization are under attack externally by Islam and internally by secularism. Oddly, both the left and the Islamofascists function as two blades on a set of scissors, they are independent yet working together to shred the fabric of Western culture.
You know, PC has invaded when it comes to truth in religion. Telling the truth about the history and the beliefs of the Mormons is taboo, just as it is not PC to tell the truth about the history and beliefs of the Muslims.
This will destroy America if you keep it up.
apacalyps on January 18, 2008 at 2:17 AM
How do you know that?
But I love you Tuco. I’ll sing for you tonight, just because the others are not nice to you – Lullaby.

Thanks, muyoso.
What if there is a God, though? He can run things as He pleases. Within His nature. Just as we do as people. We stay within our own natures.
We also have plenty of disagreements. So, if there is a God and you disagree with Him, that doesn’t automatically mean you’re right and He’s wrong.
Maybe it’s a lack of understanding.
Goodnight all. I’m seeing double, I’m so tired.
For all the fierceness you guys fight, you pretty much keep it civil. I’m impressed.

We will team up. You get him on the couch and I will shoot him.

It looks like the children went to bed exhausted.

If they succeed in establishing religion as a basic Republican Party tenet, they could do us in. When you say ‘radical right’ today, I think of these moneymaking ventures by fellows like
Pat RobertsonMike Huckabee and apacalyps and others who are trying to take the Republican Party and make a religious organization out of it. If that ever happens, kiss politics goodbye. The religious factions will go on imposing their will on others, less the decent people connected to them recognize that religion has no place in public policy. They must learn to make their views known without trying to make their views the only alternatives. We have succeeded for over 200 years in keeping the affairs of state separate from the uncompromising idealism of religious groups and we mustn’t stop now. To retreat from that separation would violate the principles of conservatism and the values upon which the framers built this democratic republic.

Since you’re obviously so desperate to debate me on the age of the earth…I’ll try and wrap it up quickly.
Yes I believe the earth is young…civilization rose up tremendously fast and is headed for disaster soon.
(100 years ago candles and outhouses.. today gene therapy, cloning and thermonuclear war)!
No I don’t believe agenda atheists telling me that there is no God because their unproven theory is right and I am a heretic if I don’t think so.
Yes I believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible.
I can’t think of anything that you can say to convince me otherwise and probably vice versa.
Satisfied?
HaraldHardrada on January 18, 2008 at 2:27 AM
Yes, I’m quite familiar actually. But my questions are on Huckabee. Not his religion. Not on Romney’s religion. As the conversation between the two of us seems to be accelerating to a doctrinal conversation framed around Christianity vs. Mormonism, please excuse me if I decline and withdraw.
Spirit of 1776 on January 18, 2008 at 2:28 AM
I respect the right of others to believe in what they want too, but not if it’s going to destroy my nation and my family and friends.
Secondly, if you don’t believe this world was created by God, you have alot more to worry about than the current issues we discuss. Are you an evolutionist?? Hmm, I can assure you the earth is not billions of years old. No animal has ever been observed changing into any fundamentally different kind of animal. No one has ever observed life spontaneously arising from nonliving matter. Matter cannot make itself out of nothing. Evolutionism is a religious worldview that is not supported by science, Scripture, popular opinion, or common sense.

How do you think people get to heaven Roger?
thanks.

Percy on January 18, 2008 at 2:33 AM
Congratulations then as you have just disproved the existence of God.
MB4 on January 18, 2008 at 2:36 AM
Good evening Percy – you’ve been lurking, or are a creature of the night. It’s good to see you here. It’s about time something beautiful showed up.
Entelechy on January 18, 2008 at 2:38 AM
MB4 surprisingly enough doesn’t understand the eternal nature of God. I’m shocked.
HaraldHardrada on January 18, 2008 at 2:38 AM
You’d have to stay awake for weeks to get the end of that, from MB4.
