Chris Matthews to Hillary: Hey, sorry for being a sexist

First Robert Johnson, now the man the nutroots preciously calls “Tweety”: It’s mea culpa day in American politics. A week after suggesting that Hillary owes her senate career to Bill’s dalliance with Monica, then defending that position when the idiots on “The View” challenged him on it, and finally drawing the attention of Hillary’s media attack dog (among others), Caveman Chris finally sucks it up and calls off the nutroots dogs. Lefty blogosphere 1, lefty cable network 0.

“Tweety”

I have to give the nutroots credit here. It works on several levels.

What’s wrong with being sexy?

danking70 on January 17, 2008 at 8:09 PM

I’m so sick of this idiot…He and Keith Olbermann are two of the most pathetic people I’ve ever seen in my life..

therightwinger on January 17, 2008 at 8:09 PM

Zzzzzzz….

“who watch this show so faithfully every night”…

Who? The camera and lighting guy?

Pasalubong on January 17, 2008 at 8:10 PM

Hardball.

silverfox on January 17, 2008 at 8:12 PM

Brock can now add Matthews’ testicles to his collection.

Put them right next to Olbermann’s to balance the look out.

SteveMG on January 17, 2008 at 8:12 PM

What a wussy. Nobody watches this show. All he wants to talk about his pretend-a-scandals.

He actually said something accurate about Shrillary being where she is based on people feeling sorry for her…now is apologizing. dude sucks.

Roger Waters on January 17, 2008 at 8:16 PM

Matthews’ last book was about… Live your life like it’s your own political campaign, like Billy Jeff does.

silverfox on January 17, 2008 at 8:17 PM

I might have made this point elsewhere, so apologies for the redundancy:

CHRIS MATTHEWS IS A WOMAN.

emailnuevo on January 17, 2008 at 8:17 PM

Matthews was actually right for the first time in years and he’s apologizing for it?

davenp35 on January 17, 2008 at 8:18 PM

I agree: who watches the show “Faithfully???”

frank on January 17, 2008 at 8:19 PM

So does that whining, sniveling, caring scumbag love the current President of the United States too?

Typhoon on January 17, 2008 at 8:20 PM

Exhibit A:

“…belittling those who would suggest otherwise and claiming to know more about history than the View women.”

Who the hell, other than a scorned woman who is losing her argument, makes that point? Seriously, anyone who’s ever argued with a woman recognizes the “I think I know more about this than you” line.

emailnuevo on January 17, 2008 at 8:20 PM

The sad part is that anybody gives a rat’s backside what this wormy dolt thinks or says.

rplat on January 17, 2008 at 8:20 PM

Matthews was actually right for the first time in years and he’s apologizing for it?

No, he’s just pandering…it’s what he does.

AUINSC on January 17, 2008 at 8:20 PM

Hardball? More like Noball(s).
I hate to agree with a blowhard like Matthews, but I agree that HRC used the Lewinsky for her own political gain.

fourstringfuror on January 17, 2008 at 8:22 PM

It didn’t bother me. Seems to me it’s like saying Rudy benefited by 9/11. It’s history, it introduced Rudy to the rest of the nation. That doesn’t mean bad things about Rudy or NY or anybody else. I thought that it what CM was saying about HRC, that it catapulted her up in the eyes of Americans as something other than a healthcare socialist. But I’m not looking to be offended either.

At least he’s safe in the bathroom stall now. He’s free to express himself anyway he wants in there. His ACLU has fought and regained his freedom to go in that stall and do what he may. Good luck Chris. Good luck and farewell. I fear this was merely a 3 minute commercial for Barry Obama and if I prevail to be correct and this is true Bill will get you down in that stall and end your virginity in a way we can’t discuss here. And then you too can reach new heights of accomplishment. Go where men before you have feared to tread. Good luck Chris. Good luck and farewell.

Griz on January 17, 2008 at 8:27 PM

Chris is such a tool.

Im Bald and its Bushs fault on January 17, 2008 at 8:33 PM

Frustration, hope, change and he wants people to know he
has a good heart and he wasn’t out against them.
I understand this is pointed to his side, the Libs,
but where was his good heart during President Bush’s
two terms!

canopfor on January 17, 2008 at 8:33 PM

Wait, Hot Air, you forgot to point out that he blamed it all on Bush!

Frustration, all caused by BOOOOOOSSSSSHHHH!!! is what is to blame!

Ugly, effeminate, stupid, and otherwise unlikeable. No wonder MSNBC has him on national television.

Jaibones on January 17, 2008 at 8:52 PM

Matthews: Let me just say to Hillary, woman to woman, I`m sorry.

ThePrez on January 17, 2008 at 8:55 PM

“How the Media will react to this well deserved rebuke is the question. And let’s be clear, Chris Matthews should be removed from covering this race. His offensive behavior is a disgrace to NBC.” .”

.
There is so much wrong with that paragraph I don’t even know where to start.
Deserved rebuke? yeah , plus a few thousand to conservatives and/or Christians they never mentioned.
Disgrace to NBC? Impossible. NBC IS the disgrace.
Matthews? his brain was long ago removed by Denny K’s ‘friends’ and he/she/it doesn’t warrant the ink here.

Feeeeeeelings, nothing more than feeeeeeelings.

Tweety indeed.

fogw on January 17, 2008 at 9:21 PM

Chris, they are tricky subjects because you’re trying to apease people who will convict you of a thought crime based on their emotional state. There is nothing you can do about it. You are a thought criminal because they say you are. They will probably never forgive you. So man up and get on with your life. You getting on your knees with the excuses and apologies just injcreases their tyrannical power.

snaggletoothie on January 17, 2008 at 9:22 PM

A little OT, but I’ve been wondering about this for years now, and perhaps the HA audience can help.

Immediately after 9/11, in reference to the attack, I seem to remember hearing Matthews say something like “it’s dad time now,” the point being that now is the time for America to get tough with its enemies and stop being so womanish. I’ve always thought it was Matthews, but I could be wrong. Anyone remember?

Infidoll on January 17, 2008 at 9:24 PM

I think it is just possible that Chris Matthews was threatened in some way. To reverse himself in this way is quite odd, even for him.

After all, I don’t refer to HRC as the Hildebeast for nothing.

Dave R. on January 17, 2008 at 9:24 PM

After two minutes of his droning I developed a headache

Segue on January 17, 2008 at 9:30 PM

A little OT,”It’s dads time now”
Infidoll on January 17,2008 at 9:24PM.

Infidoll: I remember hearing that phrase as well.

canopfor on January 17, 2008 at 9:33 PM

Chris Matthews’ next apology should be to George Bush and should go, “Mr. President, I’m sorry for being a bleep-bag.”

whitetop on January 17, 2008 at 9:41 PM

Fortunately, Matthews is the only journalist on MSNBC who engages in over-the-top and inflammatory comments about public officials.

So, this mea culpa will immediately put a stop to such commentary out of MSNBC journalists.

(ahem)

SteveMG on January 17, 2008 at 9:48 PM

If we parse his words, he says he should not have claimed her “whole” career was due to being a victim of Bill. He really meant to say, just the bulk of it.

roninacreage on January 17, 2008 at 10:23 PM

Do they have a guy standing by with a wet & dry vac to suck up all the spit that guy slings? He’s like a garden hose.

lowandslow on January 17, 2008 at 10:49 PM

does he spit when he talks?

Well, nobody has actually just come out and said that, but bring an absorbent towel (or large cotton handkerchief) if you every meet him face to face. Just saying…

AUINSC on January 17, 2008 at 10:52 PM

What a pantload. I can’t imagine that anyone takes this leering pervert seriously, no matter how much he tries to convince himself to the contrary.

Green 6 golf on January 17, 2008 at 11:10 PM

He found his own voice!!!

Griz on January 17, 2008 at 11:14 PM

Hillary, I need to apologize to you.

First, remember Iraq (Bush made me do it), and that we don’t have centralized health care (Bush made me do it), gas prices (you know the routine now – Bush made me), the weakening economy (Bush).

I know I’m dealing with sensitive feelings, and Hillary, my good heart just couldn’t go on if I thought I’d never get another sweet kiss from your lips.

I get it.

Finally, as if anyone doesn’t know this, I love Hillary.

Nas on January 18, 2008 at 1:03 AM

Why did he only mention the 3 Democrat candidates? Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton and John McCain? No bias there.

JeffinOrlando on January 18, 2008 at 1:43 AM

Geez, what a wuss. Of all the people he should apologize to, he apologizes to the beast. I can just see it now:

1. Insinuate Obama is a Muslim. Check
2. Remind everyone of Obama’s drug use and blame it on Repubs. Check.
3. Get Nevada Teachers Union to start lawsuit against Casino Caucuses after their union endorses Obama. Check
4. Make Chrissy apologize. Check.
5. Sharpen claws…

Aardvark on January 18, 2008 at 6:20 AM

Matthews looks more like the Tweety who drank the Jeckyl/Hyde potion.

danking70 on January 17, 2008 at 8:09 PM

Heh. Thank you, Nigel.

James on January 18, 2008 at 8:52 AM

A larger point here I think is the fact that the feminazi coalition was all over Chrissy in defence of the Hildabeast. Selective outrage???

brtex on January 18, 2008 at 10:29 AM

The management of Hotair should have warned anyone insisting on watching the video clip to have a barf bag handy.

ptolemy on January 18, 2008 at 10:45 AM

Matthew says: “I want people to react to me…”

React to this Matthews: You’re an idiot!

Now give me your reaction Matthews……;-)

Planet Boulder on January 18, 2008 at 10:59 AM

Coward to coward. Sorry for telling the truth. It will never happen again. Just because your husband desecrated the Oval Office by letting a girl his daughter’s age perform oral sex on him, I was wrong to have mentioned it.

volsense on January 18, 2008 at 11:22 AM

Mathews has a tough time hiding his disdain for Shrillary. It creeps through his commentary on a regular basis, and expains his gushing over the Messiah.

DrW on January 18, 2008 at 11:31 AM

I’m going to start calling Chris Matthews “Mounds,” because Almond Joy’s got nuts,…

sgt_rich on January 18, 2008 at 11:54 AM

Where is the spittle-flecked drooler’s apology to Michelle Malkin? Karl Rove? Vice President Dick Cheney?

DANEgerus on January 18, 2008 at 12:12 PM

Who is his writer, a sophomore Women’s Studies major?

His apology is so smarmy I think he’s actually doing a parody, sticking it to whoever made him do it.

PattyJ on January 18, 2008 at 12:19 PM

I’m so sick of this idiot…He and Keith Olbermann are two of the most pathetic people I’ve ever seen in my life..

therightwinger on January 17, 2008 at 8:09 PM

Hyperbole should at least be original.

There won’t be a television airing due to the writer’s strike. But we’ll mail your Dork Award to the Laugh Factory.

The Race Card on January 18, 2008 at 2:00 PM

Matthews is a smug moron. Not because of Hillary but because of everything else. The chickens have come
home to roost and he’s eating crow.
Apology not given is not accepted anyway.
Hey Chris, get this.

RobCon on January 18, 2008 at 2:48 PM

Chris Matthews is so pitiful that I actually feel a tiny bit sorry for him. His psychological need to be accepted by the Clintons reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where George Costanza was deliriously happy that the “cool guy” let him tag along. Of course, “the cool guy” treated George like crap and there was no happy ending.
Chris Matthews feels the same way about Bill Clinton. Chris was on the Colbert Report and actually said that for young guys who want to be successful with the ladies, they should emulate Bill Clinton.Colbert started laughing at this point and yet Matthews went on and on about Bill Clinton’s dating techniques and how Bill Clinton used the “listen technique” to attract the ladies. At this point, Colbert was on the floor practically retching. Matthews only convinced me that he must be the biggest nerd in the world. Anyone who thinks Bill Clinton is a chick magnet must be on crack.
