Video: Huckabee’s “let the air out of their tires” joke
posted at 8:10 am on January 16, 2008 by Bryan
The best line from Huckabee’s concession speech after finishing third in Michigan and looking forward to the coming South Carolina primary.
Relax, everyone. He’s kidding.
I’m not a fan and won’t vote for him (and will check the air pressure in my tires next time I drive the car), but you have to admit Mike Huckabee is good at off-the-cuff humor.

Yes it really is a shame that his personality isn’t backed by conservatism. Actually, I suppose he is rather conservative in most areas – its the abuse of religious credentials to garner evangelical support that “let’s the air out of my tires” so to speak.

First to post!
Huckaboom is Huckadoom.
Don’t Vote Huckabee.
madmonkphotog on January 16, 2008 at 8:17 AM
DARN!
Missed being first!
madmonkphotog on January 16, 2008 at 8:17 AM
Election fraud. It’s not just for Democrats anymore.
Mike Huckabee lost the funny about 3 states ago.
BKennedy on January 16, 2008 at 8:18 AM
That’s not the end of the bad news. Chances are someone is letting the air out of your tires even as you sip your morning joe. Hucka-terrorists!
blankminde on January 16, 2008 at 8:18 AM
You might have missed first post, but you got Huck nailed. This guy is a clown.
thejackal on January 16, 2008 at 8:19 AM
Well it’s a joke but it’s not far from the truth. Didn’t Kerry supporters sabotage Republican vehicles in ’04?
There are many words to describe Huck but I think the best one is sanctimonious.
Brat on January 16, 2008 at 8:24 AM
Laura Ingraham had it pegged perfectly:
Huckleberry is really suited to be Entertainer-in-Chief, NOT Commander in Chief.

When this was on last night I couldn’t tell if I was watching someone running for President or doing standup.
mAc Chaos on January 16, 2008 at 8:26 AM
Heh yeah I caught this last night. He’s a personable guy, I’ve always said it. Just not a good presidential candidate. :)
Dash on January 16, 2008 at 8:27 AM
This is just evidence that he actually is a Democrat.
TheSitRep on January 16, 2008 at 8:27 AM
He’s not funny to me; he’s trouble.
The funnier he is to others, the more I resent him for elevating style over (his decidedly leftist) policy.
Nessuno on January 16, 2008 at 8:30 AM
This is actually incitement to tamper with a voter’s right to cast a ballot!
These are the goon tactics that we saw the Democrats do in the last election.

This comment seemed tongue-in-cheek, but with Mr. Huckabee you never really know, and thats the problem.

Liberal candidate checklist.
1. Support sanctuary cities √
2. Have a record of raising taxes. √
3. Deflate your opponents tires on election day √
4. Promise sweeping smoking ban nationwide √
5. Take back your promise of smoking ban due to political expediency √
6. Support in-state tuition for illegal aliens √
7. Oppose school vouchers √
8. Get that all important NEA endorsement √.
9. The pulpit to garner votes from evangelicals √

Huckabee is just plain odd.
He reminds of a creepy distant uncle.
jake-the-goose on January 16, 2008 at 8:41 AM
Funny, but smacks of desperation.
amkun on January 16, 2008 at 8:46 AM
He isn’t a conservative even in religion. He was in the liberal wing of the Southern Bapists and left when the conservatives led by Charles Stanley took over the denomination. So his track record even on religion isn’t conservative. By the way OT, Fred got slammed by Fox and Friends this morning while they were interviewing him. When he started talking about Huckster’s illegal alien policy in Arkansas Steve Docy cut him off in mid word and when Fred called him on it he said yes he was cutting him off because they had heard all that before. Who’s Fox backing again?
flytier on January 16, 2008 at 8:47 AM
I thought it was pretty good! In fact, I’d love to see more concession speeches from Mike Huckabee in the future.
Dork B. on January 16, 2008 at 8:52 AM
Like a sh–ty stand up comic.
LtE126 on January 16, 2008 at 8:53 AM
Steve Docy’s a retard with a microphone, Fox ought to relegate him back to only doing the weather.
doriangrey on January 16, 2008 at 8:58 AM
I would have immediately shot back, “Oh I must be in the wrong place. Is this not the same channel which runs endless loops every Britney Spears ‘event’?”
I miss the Fair and Balanced Fox News.
12thman on January 16, 2008 at 9:01 AM
Yuck yuck , rim shot
Ha ha , me too.
TheSitRep on January 16, 2008 at 9:02 AM
Good list.
1,2,6,7,8 is good enough for me…in fact any two of the five would do it.
10. Amnesty for illegals should be in there, he believes in that 24 hr. “waiting” period.
11. Joking about serious subjects, hiding his ignorance
12. Not having an idea about foreign policy, let alone the middle-east.
The list is almost endless, and the list would be longer than the Democrats list…
right2bright on January 16, 2008 at 9:04 AM
Heh. I wish I’d thought of that line…
Bryan on January 16, 2008 at 9:11 AM
HuckaGeek has played out his Dan Rather “Down Home Humor” waaaaaaaay past the point of palatability….
I am an Independant Baptist, (not conformed to the SBC sect), and I can tell you I am past the point of being fed up with this A$$…..
I’m voting Fred…..Win—Lose—-or—-Draw.
awesum on January 16, 2008 at 9:30 AM
No, it’s not funny. That wasn’t funny. And I don’t mean “not funny” in a “little too much truth to it” sort of way, I mean “not funny” in a “lame” way. We’ve got to stop lowering the bar on humor for politicians. Otherwise they’re going to keep on trying to be funny, thinking they have a realistic shot, instead of just telling me what the hell they actually think about taxes and national security.
Mark V. on January 16, 2008 at 9:36 AM
I don’t find him funny at all. His ‘humor’ seems robotic and contrived.
scotth on January 16, 2008 at 9:37 AM
He’s used this same joke before. I thought it was funny the first time, but maybe it’s starting to get old now. Hopefully he’s out after SC.

Almost all successful southern pastors are.

ronsfi on January 16, 2008 at 10:04 AM
I am sick to death of Huckabee’s one liners. I do not want a comedian/preacher in the White House. A little humor is okay. But when you sling one liners like a fly fisherman on crack slings his line, it gets old. Enough. Stop it. Let it go. Get serious.
Sue on January 16, 2008 at 10:08 AM
If he wasn’t such a liar and if his potential affect on this country wasn’t so bothersome, I could let my guard down and think he’s funny again. But he has become THE Elmer Gantry for me and I just don’t trust him.
csdeven on January 16, 2008 at 10:19 AM
Huh. So he’s just like the Democrats. Get out there and stop people from voting from me. How long before he starts making jokes about slashing tires and stealing signs from yards?
MadisonConservative on January 16, 2008 at 11:22 AM
Yeah. Can we get him booked for a 5 minute set on Showtime’s Live at the Apollo? No?
Dr.Cwac.Cwac on January 16, 2008 at 11:34 AM
Hey, Ron Paul finished ahead of Fred Thompson in Michigan. What does this mean, O Wise Ones???
manwithblackhat on January 16, 2008 at 12:22 PM
Since he has been saying this all over the country, I don’t think that it qualifies as “off the cuff”.
TBinSTL on January 16, 2008 at 1:27 PM
I’d say it’s probably written ON his cuff.
spacemonkey on January 16, 2008 at 1:40 PM

Don’t want pastor-president. Don’t want jokester-president.
The bully pulpit isn’t a preacher’s pulpit
and there isn’t a comedy-club brick wall in the Oval Office.
