Agreed! Duncan is a solid conservative. But he’s turning out to be a politican like any other politican. He can’t possibly win and while he stays in a doesn’t endorse the other conservative, who could clearer use the momentum, he stays in and sanctions us to a brokered or volitale convention. I mean, let’s be serious, the delegates aren’t gonna stand and cheer while McCain is doing this! You know what I mean?

…..There are only two conservatives in this race (Fred and Mitt)…..

There ARE two conservatives in the race: Duncan Hunter is an absolutely solid conservative. Fred Thompson is a pretty solid Conservative.

Mitt Romney is a moderate with slightly conservative tendencies in a few areas and a few liberal tendancies in others..

Trust me- the opinion of csdeven means less than nothing to me. If I’m pessimistic and disappointed, it has nothing to do with him or those like him.

However, there are less than 3 weeks to go till Super Tuesday, the freakin’ Huckster is in the lead nationally with McCain nipping at his heels. SC is Fred’s “firewall” as he put it, and the polling indicates that there just isn’t enough time for him to make a strong enough showing there.

The US survived Carter and two Clinton terms. We’ll continue to survive no matter who wins the nomination or presidency. However I still reserve the right to be highly disappointed and cynical about the current situation. At least for another few weeks anyways.

Oh, and did I mention that the weather forcast here predicts temperatures between -11F and 10F through Wednesday?

Heh, I’m not worried about the seeds of doubt being sown in my own mind. I do that plenty myself by being very critical of all flaws. I’m more worried about people being swayed on this board by such as csdeven’s comments, although csdeven is pretty even most of the time these days. Folks like BKennedy and tommylotto are more annoying, but less of a threat because they default to insults or simple anti-Fred diatribes.

I often find myself more happy than sad. It’s a trait I find in most conservatives and lacking in most liberals.

Meh; it’s pretty much a given that if he endorses anyone, it’s going to be one of the top 3 front-runners and that means it’s going to be a RINO. Perhaps a RINO pretending to be a conservative for the election, but a RINO nonetheless.

Whether it’s Romney or McCain doesn’t change the fact that I wouldn’t vote for either of them, and I doubt he’d endorse the Huckster.

Are you quoting national poll numbers to me? You know better than that.

Any conservative who isn’t highly disappointed that Huckster is in the lead nationally with McCain second and Huck leading amongst supposed conservatives simply isn’t paying enough attention.

National polling numbers can legitimately be brushed aside when they are taken months before Super Tuesday, but with less than 3 weeks to go? Not so much.
