That survey is hogwash. Where did they find these kids? The psych ward?

Clown acts are always popular. For 12 years, I was part of a clown troupe. We were the biggest thrill the kids in the audience have experienced in their lives.

I guess if the showed pics of John Wayne Gacey in a clown suit, then told the kids, “He’s a convicted murderer of hundreds of kids 4 to 16″, it might influence their opinion.

Another influence is if they saw the great slasher film, “Killer Clowns from Outer Space”.

People who are scared of clowns scare me, because they can’t deal with the reality that clowns are just people in make up.People who can not deal with reality have a psychotic streak running in them. Often it is repressed, only to be released at times of high stress, turning them into maniacal killers.

Wow, art imitates life.
This happen to me in real life at a costume party I attended.
I was dressed as a space alien complete with blue face and antenna. Some drunks insisted I was Gandalf and we got into quite the yelling match of “am not” “are to”. It end the same way as the video with me agreeing just to get rid of the psycho party drunks. It was the last time I went dressed in a costume to a party.

According to a psychology class I took clowns are scary because they hide their true emotions. They have painted on smiles, eyes and oversize clothing that hides their true expressions and body language. People don’t trust them because they can’t read them. The same thing applies to costumed characters as many little kids are really afraid of people dressed as Mickey Mouse or Goofy.

I don’t know but I am definitely going with it not being called “Clownphobia”. (insert squealy uncontrollably annoying wicked clown laugh here) Could you imagine a fellow bespectacled professor sitting in the conservatory lunchroom with the other professors offering up his new condition name. They would be like, what, did we call fear of heights Heightsphobia? No, we gave it a fancy schmancy name like agoraphobia. You schmeel! This has Farside cartoon potential.

Clowns (and Klowns) are actually demon aliens from Outer Space. I’ve seen the Documentary… it’s chilling. It’s called, oddly enough, Killer Klowns from Outer Space. I watched the film, and learned… I’ll never look at Cotton Candy the same way again!!!

I just realized why I hate clowns. They suck up to the parents and trick them into thinking they are friends of kids, but every kid knows the clown is really evil and deadly

The kids feel helpless because the clown has total control over the parent, rendering the parent useless for protectng kids

A kid is never more alone than when Mom or Dad tells them to go see the nice clown and the clown stares at them with those black beady eyes. The smile is painted on but the kid can see the yellow teeth and the sneer

Yes I fear clowns so much I cannot watch the video. I despise mimes but even as a kid I hated clowns and did not want them near me.

Clowns are supposed to be friends. They wear baggy clothes and carry props yet they make up their faces in ways that are not cute or friendly. They are aggressive and in your face. Every kid knows he can beat a mime to pulp if he has to, but a clown can kill

I also hate punch and judy shows. Stinking hand puppets that scream at each other in high voices and beat each other with clubs. Sissy european sock puppet trolls. Any kid could beat up a Punch or Judy but that is like killing flies. There is no glory and they will come back anyway.

Hades hates clowns, too (they do, however, taste like chicken).
Hades appreciates the artistry of Chris Landreth (the filmmaker of Bingo, The End, and Ryan) and believes the entire sequence is CGI (and was made many years ago).

What could possibly be frightening about caricatures of a human being, with unnaturally swollen appendages and a deathly pallor, that jerk spasmodically around a darkened arena and feign mortal wounds on each other.

Why, no child could ever develop terrible nightmares about that.

I think that video is probably how they get people to start the dark path to clowndom.

Also WRT the video, I am SO going to be going up to people and saying “Hi, Bingo” for MONTHS.

BTW: for some reason ClownGirl was the scariest thing in that acid-trip clip. Like the little stone/stick arrangements in Blair Witch Project: harmless yet terrifying.

My oldest daughter is deathly afraid of clowns… of course it probably has something to do with her older friend inviting her over and watching IT… at the age of 10!

Did I mention she’s STILL deathly afraid of clowns?

(I just find them creepy.)
