My earlier posts about this hint at the brewing war in the Democrat party. But Rush’s monologue on the subject is unmatched.

I heard it and it was wonderful. Entertaining and accurate.

The Johnny-comes-amarching-home-again ala Dr. Strangelove is the perfect touch.
The Godfather indeed.

I heard this during the broadcast – It was fantastic. I was cheering by the end. I especially loved the way he turned around a lot of the accusations made by Bill Clinton against Rush. Wow!

freakin awesome especially with ‘Johnny come marching home’
THAT is mood music

I’m thinking we’ll hear a lot more about this. It’s so dead on the money that it’s going to make their heads explode.

Rush just snatched Halley’s comet right out of space and used it to stir the pot!
LOL

There is trouble in Liberalville.
Equally great was Rush’s monologue on the who’s trying to redefine conservatism and what conservatism is.
Conservatism isn’t broken, why are some of the candidates trying to retrofit what ain’t broken?

I’m still in tears with laughter. The whole Monologue is spot-on.

Great point, Obama running against both Clintons. Two against one. Liberals should really be indignant about that, no?

I always thought that, in spite of his quirks, Mr. Gingrich was smart. What happened with him, lately?

She said, “Everyone should love what they do as much as he does.”

Going on 17 years as a faithful listener, today’s monologue…today’s monologue was perhaps the finest I’ve ever heard.

Let’s hear the second hour monologue on McCain, Huck and the so-called end of the Reagan era.

I know a long-time couple who just broke up over a Hillary-Obama issue.
The man is a full-time democratic activist who is working on the Obama campaign, and the woman was getting sick and tired of hearing about politics even more than usual, but when the guy started attacking Hillary for crying, saying things like “oh poor poor weak woman has to cry. Poor thing should just get out of the way…” that was the last straw. He had revealed his true sexist colors.
Shouldn’t be too long before the whole left side of the country is screaming “Racist!” “Sexist!” at each other.
Bad Penny on January 14, 2008 at 7:23 PM
Imagine the great country America could be with Rush as President. It will never happen, for a lot of reasons, but what Rush stands for is exactly what America needs: Low taxes, strong defense and foreign policy, eviction of the U.N., appointing conservative judges, severely limiting illegal immigration, Social Security privatization, oil drilling in ANWR and other oil-rich deposits domestically. I could go on and on. Unfortunately, he’ll never become President, but fortunately, he’ll continue to educate and entertain millions of skulls full of mush.

I heard that this morning and I was chuckling the entire time. Seeing it is even better.

First of all let me say I an a Rush fan.
My question here is Rush drunk or back on the pills. Of course I can’t see him on the radio so maybe he has those spastic movements all the time but, Jesus, what is going on ?

This was great. I wish that I had been listening today.

Hillary Clinton’s political instincts are nowhere near as good as Bill’s. You don’t go after MLK. It doesn’t matter if it’s a mostly factual historical point.

Rush wouldn’t take the pay-cut to be prez for one.
Two,talking using your hands and body gets more zest in the mic.

..and Obama……has yet to cry.
ROFL!
Rush nailed it, that was great.
BacaDog on January 14, 2008 at 7:41 PM
.
Rush definitely was on fire today. I loved the whole description of the poker game where Clinton had the feminist card, Obama the race card, and Edwards the populist card….. and none of them could play their cards against the other pet causes of the radical left.

I fully expected someone to come out afterward and throw a cape over the back of Mr Limbaugh a la James Brown.
Wow. Just wow.
mattshu on January 14, 2008 at 7:46 PM
As posted above, there are so many memorable, insightful one-liners in this monologue that it’s hard to know where to start.
So I’ll add the one at the end about Fulbright’s question: What took it so long? (It’s the outcome of zero-sum multiculturalism that inevitable, is it not?)
petefrt on January 14, 2008 at 7:47 PM
I listened to this live. He’s great. And I would suggest that he would be a terrific election year interviewee for Hot Air Vent!

Dems have their Obama and Rep have their McCain.
nottakingsides on January 14, 2008 at 8:02 PM
I think the best part of Rush’s show today was
the parody of McCain singing “If you don’t know me”
Rush really hit hard at McCain today, it was great.
jadedlady on January 14, 2008 at 8:09 PM
After first hearing audio only, I found the video somewhat distracting from the message. But what the video added was Rush’s laughing. And that’s the part MSM will cut when they air it.
petefrt on January 14, 2008 at 8:19 PM
Gingrich and Murdoch are dumb like a fox. They are cheering on Hillary so we can use her for target practice in the general. If she continues down the same path she and Bill are on now, and wins the nomination, by them she will have alienated all of black America and the 42% she was counting on in the general will have dropped down to almost 30%.
It’s the perfect storm with Gingrich and Murdoch seeding the clouds.
But you knew that.
fogw on January 14, 2008 at 8:22 PM
That was epic, Rush. Totally epic.
BKennedy on January 14, 2008 at 8:24 PM
Yeah, I was especially heartened when Rush quoted Tocqueville. I’ve tried to call his show multiple times–always too late of course–to bring up to pertinence of Tocqueville on equality leading to dictatorship and the parallels to current liberal policies and trends.
darii on January 14, 2008 at 8:25 PM
I suppose that this works for the Rush fans, but I don’t think it’s going to persuade any unbelievers. There is something to be said for inflaming the base, but the base should also be reminded that few people outside the base are going to swallow Rush’s rhetoric. In fact, my suggestion to a victorious Obama would be to replay segments of this at the Dem Convention. It will seem insane to the Clinton supporters and remind them of who their enemy is. Rush also inflames the Dem base.

That’s my hope too. My fingers are locked in the crossed position.

If not for a Democratic president, the Civil Rights Act would not have been accomplished, Hillary?
I wonder if she’s ever learned that Republicans in Congress voted for the act in greater percentages in both houses than Democrats did. Care to give any of them credit, Senator? (Yeah, I know, whom am I trying to kid?)
What’s that Rush? Obama’s using a “hoe”? Just don’t go saying that in Australia!
Bigfoot on January 14, 2008 at 8:43 PM
This I figured was what he was doing lauding Hillary, but what I referred to was his flirtations with Huckabee. That’s a total puzzler. Why?

fogw on January 14, 2008 at 9:03 PM
Um…. Gotta ask. Do you really think that was so narrow in its’ substantive analysis it only appeals to the few million Rush fans? Who are these unbelievers and how would they be turned off by this except for their narrow-minded views about Rush? Were it some silly leftist like Juan Williams, Ann Curry, or Katie Couric these people would be passing out Pulitizer and Marconni ballots.

Yup,priceless as always, again wait till the DNC convention,
were going to see the fairy tale in action, will the party
embrace Obama for change,or vote lock-step for Hillary.
This hyprocracy in the Liberal party has been a long time coming, and Rush elegantly takes on this discussion like
a verbal sledghammer,the Clinton’s hyprocracy exposed!

Be prepared for the Lib media coming unglued over the next
few days, interesting to see how this will unfold, since
thankfully,it’s the Liberals that have their fingerprints
all over this one!
canopfor on January 14, 2008 at 9:52 PM
Yup, this is going to go down as one of the classics, period.
Rush needs to do the same thing to the GOP, and remind them yet again what happens when they exit the building of solid conservatism and roam the wilds with abandonment. Yikes.
itzWicks on January 14, 2008 at 9:54 PM
This article is delicious!:
Honestly, this is the Democrat battle? Which minority has it the worst? It’s gender vs race, folks. Pathetic. Identity politics is so ignorant.
geckomon on January 14, 2008 at 10:06 PM
What exactly is the appeal of Rush? Kinda lame.
amkun on January 14, 2008 at 10:49 PM
The short answer to your question is yes. It seems to me that Rush’s fans have developed a taste for a form of rhetoric that most people don’t like. Rush is just a little too nasty and hateful, and I say that as a fan of Ann Coulter, who is often unfairly accused of such rhetoric.
And let’s remember that the basic premise of Obama’s campaign for president is to improve the level of the discourse. Apparently, it is a message that sells since Obama is doing well and Bush got elected in 2000. People buying that message are going to be turned off by Rush. And it’s not just them. Whatever is the truth about the political nastiness of the Clintons, most of their supporters will buy what Obama’s selling if confronted with a tape of Rush.
And just for the record here, I can’t emphasize enough how much I despise the thought of an Obama presidency. I only want to figure out strategies to help Fred, Rudy, or–in the case of desperation–Mitt or McCain win.
thuja on January 14, 2008 at 10:53 PM
I’m beginning to think Newt has long harbored liberal manifestations that are now turning his brain to green socialist mush.
The seed that germinated into the neocon disease we suffer from now had to come from somewhere.

I agree. My prediction for the first Media Matters Rush quote out of context, complete with elipses, “Obama is doing more than his share of the spade work.” [Emphasis in the original, they will note.] I’m glad Rush had a good time with it; I had a good time listening to it, but I don’t think they will blame it on Mitt–NOW they will blame it on Rush, and as thuja pointed out, he will become the common enemy that could unite them. Gotta be careful with that schadenfreud.
Media Matters 3. . . 2. . . 1. . .
Reiteration of the Media Matters talking points on all the morning talk shows 3. . .2. . .1. . . etc., etc., ad nauseam.

I was listening this morning and thought wow. Seeing and hearing it a second time confirms that which we all know but love to hear, democRats are insane. Rush knocked it out of the park today.
HotAirExpert on January 14, 2008 at 11:46 PM
And the very last thing he said, before going off the air, was about conservatives finally coming out to vote and who will be left in the race at that point:
Thompson, Romney, Giuliani.

Mitt Romney saw his dad march with Martin Luther King jr.
Err.. umm..
When I say “saw” what I mean is that he imagined it, in his mind, a fairy tale… it didn’t really happen..
It was seared, seared into his memory reminiscent of that boat trip to Cambodia on Christmas Eve.. Where I received a Magic hat from a CIA Operative..
sheesh… the parallels. and I didn’t even add in Billy Jeff’s “is”

Gerard on January 15, 2008 at 3:36 AM
The thing I like about Rush and Ann, and the left is so touchy and self important they don’t get it, is they yank their chains better than anyone. Ann with the hair flip, slow laugh and the look at who(whom)ever she’s debating is crazy, and Rush…just watch this clip. He’s acts so f’n pleased with himself (should be), and he cracks himself up “the black, magic negro”. The dude’s priceless.
Drives the left crazy

I agree with Rush 100% on this but I’d still rather listen to him than look at him. It’s a lot more powerful as an audio piece without the histrionics…
Spanglemaker on January 15, 2008 at 9:19 AM
This píece and Limbaugh’s discussion of Newt Gingrich’s comment about the end of the Reagan era (the transcript is on Limbaugh’s website) demonstrate the clear difference between Rush Limbaugh and (bless his heart) Sean Hannity.
For all his best efforts, energy and good intentions, Limbaugh has a clear intellectual advantage. Hannity’s comments seem repetitive, and shallow, whereas Limbaugh always has a new twist, a different perspective than you see anywhere else. Limbaugh seems to be able to link history, philosophy and current events in a way that, even when he has addressed a subject before, it seems new.
I give Hannity a lot of credit, and I respect him as a good person. But if I need clarity of thought and original insight, I think the Rushman comes out on top…and this piece shows why.
