Awesome – While I understand your frustration at not being able to join the “hot” fight, I would also like to point out that you, and I, serve at home. In this day of information war, your contribution to the cause is just as important as our brave sons and daughters that stand the line…
And yes, I did tear up during the video. Just last week a young man that I have known for quite some time was winged in helos… He will be joining the fight shortly.

So it was 6 KIA and 19 wounded. When they say they have 3 heroes recovered are they referring to the fallen soldiers and marine?

Yes. Not sure if one of the three was the Marine, but hero in this context is a fallen Service Member.

Thanks Mustang. Its not really enuff, compared to the uniformed men and women much who are much better than I’ll ever be that give the country everything they have, including their very lives, as Lt. Matt did.

Seeing heroism like this makes my service in the Navy back in 95-98 seem practically inadequate. All I did was work on a aircraft carrier as a Damage Controlman. Thank God for brave men and women like this who do go into harms way to bring our fallen and wounded heroes home.

Being Military Poilce attached to an Air Assault unit in the mid-80′s I have strong feelings for blackhawk missions, and when I re-watched that video full-screen and re-read the storyline….

I wish I could go back and help our country defeat the enemy.

In 2004 after Bush’s re-election, and I knew he wouldn’t cut and run, I tried to get hired by Dynacorp for a year contract to train the Iraqi Police (I graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice, then joined the Army)…

3 resume submissions over 6 months and I was denied each time….being “too old” at 45……Even though I am a masters track champion at 5’10, 198 lbs.

Forgive my diatribe….but I run across alot of LibTurds who always chant the mantra “well, why don’t you go over there then?”

So I say again…….

ALL WORTHLESS LIBERAL SWINE SHOULD BE FORCED TO WATCH NOT ONLY THIS VIDEO….

BUT OTHERS LIKE IT “CLOCKWORK ORANGE” STYLE TILL THEY VOMIT.

Wow. this item and the accompanying story at Soldier’s Angels Germany hits home for me, though i personally have not served or sacrificed much of anything in the WOT.

A very good friend of mine was best friends with Lt. Matt Ferrara. She called me after he died to tell me about it and her friendship with him and what a great young man he was. She was of course broken hearted about it, but extremely proud of his service. They went to HS together in Torrance CA, and she had maintained her friendship with him. Lt. Matt was a West Pointer, and from what my friend told me about him, a Great American of the First Order.
Some of his ashes were spread on the grounds at West Point.

My friend also has two brothers in the Marines, one who served in the Gulf in 91 and another brother who served with the Marines in Anbar in 05-06. He’s now in Kuwait.

Thanks. There is such a distorted Hollywood view of what went on in Nam. Nearly all of us vets have proud memories of what really went on; not unlike this video. Over and over.

That’s all ancient history now. Let’s focus on the now. And to Jadedlady; thank you is always enough (coming from home).

Some of us have ALWAYS appreciated our Vets from ALL wars. It seems latley that now it’s ok to thank our Vietnam Vets when we should’ve been doing that all along, and some of us have been. By the way, ya gotta read “Unheralded Victory”, a book that sets the record straight about us WINNING the Vietnam War. Thank you for your service sir.

Thank God this video got out. Even if only to a small group of Americans. I mist up a bit watching our Hero’s in action. I saw this stuff in Nam, and am Sooo proud there are still people around so brave. We’re a lucky nation folks.

Now; this is my opinion only. As a vet who was not appreciated when I came home, I want to thank you all on this blog who have given the honor due to the brave men and women abroad. Pat yourself on the back for ‘giving a damm.’ The extraction team and the extracted are also grateful for your support.
