I don’t think it’s any secret that I lean toward Romney and Thompson as my preferred candidates right now on the GOP side, though only Paul is completely unacceptable to me.

Yes, I would agree with that. And I think that Talk Radio taken as a whole (including Rush, Laura, and Hugh) vigorously agrees as well. Talk Radio, in fact, fairly well despises both Huck and McCain. This thus pits the MSM (along with a gaggle of right-leaning print pundits) against a unified Talk Radio. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. I'm thinking that this will be an election year that doesn't bow to Iowa, NH, or SC. It will take until Super Tuesday for this thing to gel, and I expect the elite to be surprised once again.

As Major Garrett is a Fox News journalist, I'm going to air a gripe, if you don't mind.
I listen to Gibson on Fox podcast, and we only get the first hour sans commercials. I'd like to have the entire show available. I'd like to hear more from Garrett also; he's very clear and does a great job on Fox News.
He should have a podcast. I can do without the pontificating O'Reilly, but I would like more Gibson, Garrett, and Laura Ingraham. Gripe over and out.

Tancredo for Homeland Security!!!

I said months ago I would support & vote for the first candidate who got up on stage and made commitment by saying Tancredo will be their pick for Homeland Security.

I'm with ya Bryan, my top two are definitely Thompson and Romney. I'm not too bothered by Romney's change of heart on some issues. People are entitled to change their minds. If it happens more than once, then they can be seen as a BSer. But Romney is usually on point with what he says now, and he has tremendous executive experience. So it wouldn't be that hard to vote for him, and I could care less about his Mormonism. I mean, honestly, who gives a fig what his religion is? I also agree that Ron Paul is the only one I could NEVER cast a vote for. That guy is a total anomaly and I can't wait till he and his whacked out supporters are off the map!!!

Being the "worst person in the world" on Olbermann's show is like a badge of honor to sane, rational and intelligent people in this country. In fact, if they don't make his list, it's almost a given they're not worth listening too.

Instead, they are going to take out Romney, one of the two conservative candidates.

What a sick, sick turn of events.

Vanceone on January 11, 2008 at 10:42 AM

Don't you see that's the problem. Two conservative candidates is one too many. Romney has been my second choice despite the fact that his supporters have made it their mission to smear my first choice. However, there are too many people running so splitting the conservative vote at the same time that the Huckster is drawing evangelicals with his identity politics puts the Huckster in a good position.

Romney's problem has always been whether he is trustworthy considering his change of heart of several issues. The people have spoken and they don't trust him. So now all Romney is doing by staying in the race is making it more difficult for Fred to gain any traction. So I will ask again, when will you Rombots give up on Mitt so that there is a chance that a conservative can win the nomination?

The funny thing is that Kos is imploring the nutroots to vote FOR Romney.

That being said, seeing how great Senator Lamont turned out, I don't have much confidence.

Do you think John McCain if nominated, would be so nice as to choose Huckabee for his running mate?

*sigh* On Romney: doesn't anyone else think it's absurd that the Democratic partie's missteps in Michigan are going to select the Republican nominee?

Think about it: if Michigan's Dems weren't being punished, all the candidates on their side would be campaigning. Instead, only one is--so all the independants, etc etc. are piling into the Republican race--and all going for McShamnesty. If Obama was running, they'd all ride to the rescue, after they blew New Hampshire. Instead, they are going to take out Romney, one of the two conservative candidates.

What a sick, sick turn of events.
