Audio: Laura Ingraham interviews Fox’s Major Garrett

The sequence begins with the voice of Keith Olbermann, but don’t let that scare you off. It’s just Laura’s crack production team setting up the Garrett interview with Olbermann’s lying lies. And that’s an excellent springboard for Garrett to start off by making the very reasonable claim that Olbermann doesn’t know anything about journalism. That’s something that Olbermann proves on their air, night in and night out, and has proven for years.

Stick around for Garrett’s assessment of the race. I don’t think it’s any secret that I lean toward Romney and Thompson as my preferred candidates right now on the GOP side, though only Paul is completely unacceptable to me. Garrett’s read on the state of the Romney campaign after New Hampshire is sobering, to say the least.

The interview continues in the second segment.

I don’t think any of the top five candidacies are dead yet, though McCain seems to have the inside track right now. And true to form, he may have fallout from a new betrayal to deal with. If the Politico can be believed, anyway. Things aren’t exactly peachy in the Giuliani campaign, either.

*sigh* On Romney: doesn’t anyone else think it’s absurd that the Democratic partie’s missteps in Michigan are going to select the Republican nominee?

Think about it: if Michigan’s Dems weren’t being punished, all the candidates on their side would be campaigning. Instead, only one is–so all the independants, etc etc. are piling into the Republican race–and all going for McShamnesty. If Obama was running, they’d all ride to the rescue, after they blew New Hampshire. Instead, they are going to take out Romney, one of the two conservative candidates.

What a sick, sick turn of events.

Do you think John McCain if nominated, would be so nice as to choose Huckabee for his running mate?

She does a great Olbermann impression. I love Laura.

The funny thing is that Kos is imploring the nutroots to vote FOR Romney.

That being said, seeing how great Senator Lamont turned out, I don’t have much confidence.

I sure have trouble getting redlasso to play all the way thru. Anyone else?

It’s the worst player ever..
Make sure your firewall isn’t set to restrictive,
HotAir should NOT use Redlasso Player IMHO.

BTW, Laura Ingraham has to be one the top 5 worst talking heads on the scene.

Don’t you see that’s the problem. Two conservative candidates is one too many. Romney has been my second choice despite the fact that his supporters have made it their mission to smear my first choice. However, there are too many people running so splitting the conservative vote at the same time that the Huckster is drawing evangelicals with his identity politics puts the Huckster in a good position.

Romney’s problem has always been whether he is trustworthy considering his change of heart of several issues. The people have spoken and they don’t trust him. So now all Romney is doing by staying in the race is making it more difficult for Fred to gain any traction. So I will ask again, when will you Rombots give up on Mitt so that there is a chance that a conservative can win the nomination?

The redlasso player is just real audio with a different skin. I did not have any problems once I enabled there java script.

Being the “worst person in the world” on Olbermann’s show is like a badge of honor to sane, rational and intelligent people in this country. In fact, if they don’t make his list, it’s almost a given they’re not worth listening too.

As I was watching last night it struck me ‘what about Fred w/ Mitt as VEEP.
Give Mitt the economy. I like that duo. (as long as we have Tancredo & Hunter somewhere in the mix)

shooter on January 11, 2008 at 2:17 PM

I’m with ya Bryan, my top two are definitely Thompson and Romney. I’m not too bothered by Romney’s change of heart on some issues. People are entitled to change their minds. If it happens more than once, then they can be seen as a BSer. But Romney is usually on point with what he says now, and he has tremendous executive experience. So it wouldn’t be that hard to vote for him, and I could care less about his Mormonism. I mean, honestly, who gives a fig what his religion is? I also agree that Ron Paul is the only one I could NEVER cast a vote for. That guy is a total anomaly and I can’t wait till he and his whacked out supporters are off the map!!!

Tancredo for Homeland Security!!!

I said months ago I would support & vote for the first candidate who got up on stage and made commitment by saying Tancredo will be their pick for Homeland Security.

Planet Boulder on January 11, 2008 at 2:39 PM

I don’t get it – did she ask him if he ever dated Keith Olbermann? Did Laura date Olbermann??

AprilOrit on January 11, 2008 at 2:42 PM

As Major Garrett is a Fox News journalist, I’m going to air a gripe, if you don’t mind.
I listen to Gibson on Fox podcast, and we only get the first hour sans commercials. I’d like to have the entire show available. I’d like to hear more from Garrett also; he’s very clear and does a great job on Fox News.
He should have a podcast. I can do without the pontificating O’Reilly, but I would like more Gibson, Garrett, and Laura Ingraham. Gripe over and out.

Yes, I would agree with that. And I think that Talk Radio taken as a whole (including Rush, Laura, and Hugh) vigorously agrees as well. Talk Radio, in fact, fairly well despises both Huck and McCain. This thus pits the MSM (along with a gaggle of right-leaning print pundits) against a unified Talk Radio. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. I’m thinking that this will be an election year that doesn’t bow to Iowa, NH, or SC. It will take until Super Tuesday for this thing to gel, and I expect the elite to be surprised once again.
