Hillary’s got a fee-vah and the only prescription is more identity politics!

Awesome. As one of our commenters said last night, if the conservative coalition’s on its way to cracking up, let’s at least see a few fissures among the Democrats, too.

“Maybe I have liberated us to actually let women be human beings in public,” Hillary Clinton said in reference to her weepy-weepy moment in New Hampshire. Ah, so that’s what happened. It wasn’t that a normal homo sapiens let her emotions get the better of her, being tired and sad and afraid she’d lose an election. No, no. This was a public service. A milestone on the road to gender equality. Let the village celebrate.

The Narrative is already being set in amber. Quoth Susan Estrich: “Beforehand, people said she didn’t deserve the nomination because it was being handed to her. Now she’s like us because in the end nothing gets handed to women.” And some woman in the Times: “I was really pained by the thought that her campaign really was over. I kept thinking that the truth is, a woman — even a woman of her unquestioned intelligence and preparedness — can’t get even a single primary win. It really stung.” Even better:

Michelle Six, 36, a lawyer and John Edwards supporter in Los Angeles, said she was horrified to hear Mr. Obama tell Mrs. Clinton she was “likable enough” in a Democratic debate on Saturday. Ms. Six said she found the line condescending, and an echo of other unkind remarks by other men about women over the years.

The likability question, initially raised by a moderator, “wouldn’t be coming up if she wasn’t a woman,” she said.

The Messiah, a latent misogynist? The surest sign of sensitivities being raised is the nutroots reaction to Chris Matthews, who in the span of two days has pinched off two whoppers: the first that Obama likely lost due to New England’s racism and the second that Hillary owes pretty much her entire political career to the fact that Bill diddled Monica. In Matthews’s “defense,” this is par for the course. No mainstream TV commentator depends as heavily as he does on pop-psych halfwit identity-politics analyses, of which his description of Michael Steele as “childlike” and “unthreatening” and therefore more palatable to America’s supposedly racist south is only the most notorious example. But it’s not just him thinking in these terms now, and Obama can’t afford to let the First Woman President narrative eclipse the First Black President narrative, however noble his restraint in pushing that particular meme has been thus far. Expect more of this as we inch towards South Carolina. The media’s obviously willing to help out — although not as much as if Hillary were a Republican. Otherwise that last link would be getting the full demagogic left-wing “is that a tom tom I hear?” treatment.

To be fair, no one has ever given Susan Estrich anything. Including the time of day.

If it’s fair to say that Hilary deserves the nomination because she’s a woman, then I have a huge surprise for the Dems: so are the rest of their candidates.

Guess you’re back to square one, feminists.

emailnuevo on January 10, 2008 at 4:08 PM

Whoa. If Hillary gets the nomination… maybe… McCain-Steele?

Vizzini on January 10, 2008 at 4:13 PM

Susan Estrich should have spent money on a brain lift, rather than a facelift.
She is so Hillary, this is a women bent on getting an appointment…at any cost.

P.S.

“Her husband turned out to be a total….PRESIDENT.”

Now, that’s brilliance.

How about the first black woman president?

So if I have this right:

The Democrats in Iowa and sexist.
The Democrats in New Hampshire are racist.

I’m just keeping score.

BKennedy on January 10, 2008 at 4:20 PM

All this anger the Obamanauts have at the Diebold factor is just a pre-tremor of what will happen if a Republican were to win. Hopefully there will be enough back and forth in the race to wear them out on that idea.

One safe bet is if Obama wins, his running mate will be a woman, but not Hillary, and if Hillary wins it will be a black other than that fairy-tale Obama. The only way Obama would let Hillary be VP is if she had extra Secret Service, surrounding her to protect him.

That’s it. Obama needs to cry in order to make it okay for young black men to show their emotions as well… dawg.

The Democrats in New Hampshire are racist correct.

There, fixed that at no charge;
It will be the Democrats from South Carolina and Florida to Nevada who are the racists, BK.

Hey, give them a break. Race and genitals are the only things Democratic voters have the ability to grasp (mentally that is).

Of course, it would be nice if a certain segment of the Republican party didn’t drool like Pavlov’s dogs everytime a disingenuous politician talks about God.

“Maybe I have liberated us to actually let women be human beings in public,” Hillary Clinton said in reference to her weepy-weepy moment in New Hampshire.

This is so Clinton! She takes a moment of faux sniveling for the camera (to prove she’s not a robot) and is now claiming that she “liberated” society! Talk about arrogance and inflated sense of self! By November she’s going to be claiming that women would not have been given the right to vote were it not for her efforts!

I hate you for that video AP.

John_Locke on January 10, 2008 at 4:35 PM

I’ve always though Michael Steele was a good VP posibility, especially for someone heavy on foreign policy background. For someone needing foreign policy expertise, Kay Bailey Hutchinson would be pretty good too.

Pandering? You betcha! Doesn’t hurt to pander if your principles can be upheld while doing it. Only possible if we have a dominating win by a single candidate and I doubt we’ll have that this year. If we lose the the Hillary monster, maybe Steele would be interested in a Presidential run in ‘12.

Actually if the convention is completely brokered and deadlocked this year, I have my proposed slate all ready:

Michelle/Bryan ‘08!

Bill can start saying he liberated men through all his philandering.

Yesss! The funniest Leave Hillary Alone vid on the Net! The harangues end in question marks; money quote:

“All you people care about is the fact that she’s a woman running for president and what you think a woman can’t do, and how their legs look also?” LOL

I like Steele too, but let’s let him win something higher than an LT Governorship before we start running him for pres.

Insufferable

- - Self made woman

These women will be hurt the most by a Hillary presidency. They’re about to be screwed royal for all they earned on their own, sin Billy.

Entelechy on January 10, 2008 at 5:10 PM

That’s it– from now on we take all Presidential Candidates, sequester them away from all public viewing for the duration of their campaigns, give them neutral code-names, and only allow them to speak through voice-distorting speakers so that no one know the candidates real names, races, or genders, and force them to actually run based on those silly little things called issues.

LordDilly on January 10, 2008 at 5:22 PM

Hey, take it easy on Hillary. This is a sad day, Sir Edmund Hillary, whom Hillary was named after, died today.
I am sure her campaign is flying there flag a half mast…

I think when Hillary’s feet touch the floor when she gets out of bed in the morning, she considers that her first public service of the day.

She is our Goddess, none shall deny her proclaimations.

OT

Just reading about Huma Abedin, Hillarys “mysterious” irreplacable powerhouse of a personal handler. Everyone loves her apparently. It’s like she should be running for president. Lots of secrecy around her. She may even live with the Clintons, but nothing is sure. And the best part of all? She is a Muslim. Did everyone know this already?

BL@KBIRD on January 10, 2008 at 7:00 PM

Pardon my innocence I wasn’t paying attention to the Hillary/aide sex? scandal awhile back and have just now started to read about her. Forget the carpet munching, I would think Huna’s syrup like truth about her beloved Islam being dripped into Hillary’s and her entourages ears, would be the perceived problem.

So aside from the rumor of being Hillary’s lover and Hunas amazing fashion sense and her personal beauty and vague rumors of a vast brilliant grasp of the world and what an asset to president Hillary she will be…….Huna kind of gives me the creeps. Is every one leaving her alone because of the rumor of a sexual scandal? Good cover for more important work.

Maybe I’m just paranoid of Islam, after all I haven’t heard anyone mention her at all. Still I’m not comfortable thinking a potential President seems to be in the Svengali like charms of Muslimina Abedin.

Good one. That’s the bottom line, isn’t it. Dems have been feeding off racist and sexist politics for decades. Now with Hil v. Barak, Dems are in a LOSE-LOSE predicament of their own making.

Poetic justice.

petefrt on January 10, 2008 at 8:30 PM

BL@KBIRD on January 10, 2008 at 8:48 PM

petefrt on January 10, 2008 at 8:50 PM

Lemme get this straight, Dumbocrats are shifting support for the next leader of the most powerful nation this earth has ever known based on one candidate’s ability to pout and sniffle like a little girl who just had her dolly stolen by her big brother?

This race must be a nightmare for liberal, white ,men. A decision to vote for Hillary labels him a racist and his vote for Osamabama labels him sexist and a vote for Silky makes him a…metrosexual.

Alden Pyle on January 10, 2008 at 10:15 PM

yeah Hillary is back in hiding. She has her new advisors by now. Shame people just cant run for an office as themselves without a team to help ya “get ya in there”. If she makes it in, then the Presidency truely means nothing. She only wants in there for her and Bills interests.

I am also quite ticked there cant just be plain “media coverage” for these things without the media being on the platform with the candidate. Is voting really voting any more?

johnnyU on January 11, 2008 at 3:43 AM

If either Hill or Obama win the whole thing, surely then at least one interest group will lose its permanent victimhood card.

doufree on January 11, 2008 at 8:17 AM

And is she going to have Ira Magiziner fix healthcare this time too?
