Video: Bill Clinton says Obamania is “the biggest fairly tale I’ve ever seen”

It’s official: The Clintons are going hard negative on Obama. Bill Clinton called out Obama on his voting record, on his rhetoric and experience today, and all on the heels of Hillary attempting to dent Obama’s comparisons of himself to MLK and JFK. I say “Good.” There are plenty of negatives to be made against Obama, and who better to make them than Fat Elvis? He’ll put downsides into the mainstream that will prove useful in the general and, should the SS Hillary sink or stay afloat, he’ll have cut the Clinton wing off from the Messiah’s wing of the party.
Plus, negative just isn’t a good look for the Clintonistas. The lip-bite act just doesn’t have the old mojo anymore.
The sweetest irony in all of this is two-fold. First, during the 1992 election Clinton himself got quite the pass from the press when he and his minions would go negative on Bush, and they got a pass for years when their spinmeisters would appear on the cable news shows and lie straight out for them. Now they’re on the flip side of media favoritism and they don’t know what to do with that, and they’re getting uglier in their frustration. Second, when all’s said and done the Clintons may be stuck with the dorky end of the Democrat party while Mr. Clean assumes the Fonzi position. For the gang who used to be the coolest kids in school, that’s going to hurt mightily.

You know, every single time Bill so much as opens his mouth, Hill the Shill loses about 6 percentage points in the polls. Forget Obama! Her greatest enemy here is Bubba Billy!

I’m going to love this knife-fight. It reminds me of Stalin vs. Trotsky. Either way, a Communist is going to get bloodied.
OhEssYouCowboys on January 8, 2008 at 2:24 PM
It really does my heart good to see HRH Hillary Clinton in this position. For too long the Clintons have had their way with the media and the American people. Anyone who can tell a magazine to spike a story or lose their access and get away with it deserves to see how the ‘other half’ live. From having to bus in support from other states during the NH primaries to having Bill apologize for not being able to make Hillary “more male,” I’m thrilled to see the other ‘Hsu’ finally dropping for the Clintons.

It’s hard to tell what you are saying in this post… are you welcoming Bill’s entry into the battle, or making fun of it? I hope it works… I don’t understand why you guys all want Obama running in the general.
We should be volunteering our time to the Clinton campaign.
DaveS on January 8, 2008 at 2:25 PM
Claiming to be an “Agent of change for the past 35 years” is an oxymoron unless you’re talking in geological terms.
When historians talk about the turn of the century Presidential elections they’ll say, “Bush, Clinton, Clinton, Bush, Bush…Clinton”(?), and that’s proof of change how?
They’re as spent as social security

Can Obama make a juke-box play by hitting it?
Frozen Tex on January 8, 2008 at 2:32 PM
I’m welcoming him and making fun of him. While I’d prefer to deal with Hillary in the general because she’s probably more beatable then Obama (though I don’t think he’s unbeatable), it’s undeniably satisfying to see them tanking now and it’s fun to see that Bill’s old tricks just don’t seem to be working anymore.
Bryan on January 8, 2008 at 2:32 PM
You’re right, DaveS. Obama is the real danger for the Republicans, not Hillary. The public is sick of Hillary. Everybody knows what she stands for, and most people don’t like it. Obama, on the other hand, is sort of a blank slate that people are projecting their own dreams onto. They don’t really know who or what he is, so they are making him into whatever they need him to be — and the media hype is playing right into that. I’m hoping the Clinton machine can really expose Obama’s weaknesses (and there are plenty, including his membership in a black supremacist church), so that the Republicans don’t have to suffer the inevitable media backlash if they end up having to do it instead.

Are you sure Billy Boy wasn’t mis-quoted?
I bet he really said that he would “like to have some of the biggest fairy tail he has ever seen.”
BTW I see that the Clinton sleazes are going to bring back the other two sleazes (Begala and Carville) from Billy’s old campaigning days. Poor old Obama Osama ‘yo mama is really going to need more protection when those two start slinging the doo-doo. What a circus?
OBX Pete on January 8, 2008 at 2:45 PM
I know what you mean. With Obama, you can beat him on the issues, but you have to overcome his like-bility factor to do it. With Hillary, you can beat her on the issues, then you can play the irritating and annoying loud “cackle” of her’s that sounds like a dying goose. That’s enough to “seal the deal” and get a Republican re-elected.
My response to Bill:
“It depends on what your definition of the word “is” is….;-)”

At least they dont have to put up with the Knight who say “Ron” adn their wuest to replace Shrubbery”
William Amos on January 8, 2008 at 2:54 PM
During that same sequence, Clinton says that Chuck Hagel was against the war all along, even though he helped design and voted for the resolution giving the president congressional authority.
Is this actually true? Or is it another whopper from the Slickster?
And, if it is a whopper, I think someone in the media should jump on it. Is this what we should expect in another Clinton presidency? Do and say anything for power?
Dennis_Second_Thots on January 8, 2008 at 2:55 PM
Actually he is probebly right about Obama being a fairy tail. It’s nice having the Clinton smear machine do the dirty work.
Obama is a fairy tale but also very dangerous. Nice guy with zero qualifications to be POTUS. He is so inexperienced not to mention a leftist extremist who keeps showing with his statements that he is way out of his league. Hopefully the American people come to their senses and realize that this is no time to put anybody with no real experience, no leadership track record, and no understanding of world affairs in the White House. I don’t care which party he comes from, the POTUS must have something more than being “charming”
Obama would be a disaster beyond anyone’s worst fears.

Right now, Obama is Fonzie. Making Bill and Hillary Ralph Malph and Potsie Weber; don’t ask me which is which.

Dork B. on January 8, 2008 at 3:02 PM
Between Hillary yesterday and Bill today, the Clintons are completely imploding. I’m not one to gloat, but what fun! They bring their troubles completely on themselves. Their unscupulous lack of character and underhanded political dealings have created this monster which will probably lead to there never, ever being another Clinton in the White House in this lifetime.
I’d much rather have Obama in the White House if there has to be a Democrat at all. The Clintons are both completely intolerable.

windansea on January 8, 2008 at 3:00 PM
Actually anybody except Paul would have Obama for lunch in terms of substance. He has nothing beyond vague platitudes and typical government owes you everything liberal crap. He has already said some very scary & idiotic things about foreign affairs but the media won’t point out how stupid and dangerous his comments were.
The problem is who controls the debate. The second thing is the lack of understanding of any liberal and many independents about facts. Like it has been pointed out many times, liberals “feel” they don’t think. The same can be said for a chunk of independents. He just has to be nice and well spoken even if everything that comes out of his mouth is nonsense.
libhater on January 8, 2008 at 3:09 PM
Do you think Bill really wants Hillary to be elected? I’m not sure his ego could take it.

Brilliant! I’m Hillary is probably taking notes right from this to use for later.
She thinking…“….Obama….Right-Wing-Conspiracy…that it! I know how we can spin this!”
He’s probably afraid she will possibly screw up his “legacy” as a President even more than he has already if she gets elected. So he’s probably thinking “why not cut my losses and try to deep-six her campaign before it’s too late”
Planet Boulder on January 8, 2008 at 3:20 PM
Agree with may of the points above:
1. Love seeing Clinton (recipient of the most gentle press treatment, even during a sex scandal) complaining about how the press can twist/ignore/make a story - delicious.
2. Hate seeing Clinton going down in the primary. I wanted her as the nominee.. We needed to keep the powder dry until ANY republican was up against her.
3. Obama isn’t ready to lead yet, but he isn’t stupid. I would rather have a POTUS that the press loves. Maybe the world will grow to love us again!!
Look at it this way:
If Obama gets the nomination (almost a sure thing now) there is no candidate yet on the Republican side that will create the energy of Obama. He is in- end of story.
Given that, I want the balance of Congress to stay about the same (prefer Republicans in power, but with a close margin) while our Pres. comes up with stupid ideas that the congress cannot get passed. I want 8 years of nothing going on in government except maybe getting rid of some of the really bad law that have been put on us over the past 4 years or so.
Just my first thought on HotAir after a year of looking in from the outside.

Instead of worrying about Hillary blowing up ( a good outcome, in any case), we need to really get geared up to take on what I have always considered a much worse threat - Obama and his MSM worshippers. he is Left of Hillary and will be an unmitigated disaster for rational patriotic conservatives.
He has far less experience in almost any area of Presidential responsibility than Jimmy Carter did.
TexasJew on January 8, 2008 at 3:23 PM
This is so much fun to watch I’m practically peeing my pants. That said, I want the Hildebeast to win the nomination, because Dumbo really scares the hell out of me. One on one debate with Obama? I think Romney, Guiliani could best him. Also Thompson. Huckabee and him think too much alike, McCain would probably fall asleep. Hunter would freaking wipe the floor with him.
jewells45 on January 8, 2008 at 3:24 PM
No, Bill. The biggest fairy tale ever began in 1990 and is just coming to an end. Unlike Snow White, there’s no happy ending for your story.
BacaDog on January 8, 2008 at 3:26 PM
The biggest fairy tale? Besides, “I did not have sex with that woman… Miss Lewinsky?”
NNtrancer on January 8, 2008 at 3:27 PM
Contra Allah and most people around here, I think Hillary is the strongest Dem candidate and Obama the weakest.
Yes, Obama draws large crowds of young people, but take a peak at the 2000 Census, and the percentages of Young people eligible to vote: it’s roughly 14%. There’s another 14% that’s too young. Everyone else is older. That’s 72% of the population that is beyond the youth vote.
Bill *IS* right, politically. Obama *IS* a fairy tale that will come crashing down to earth when issues like terrorism, illegal immigration, globalization, affirmative action, and other stuff that puts middle class families, housing, income, and everything else at risk come to the fore in the general election. It’s fine for a 19 year old with no responsibilities to go for the fairy tale, but reading the Census figures for 2000, the 17-26 year old demo combines for about 14%. That’s not a winning hand. [People with jobs can't take off for a rally.]
In 1992, the Cold War was over, the USSR was gone, and we’d just beaten Saddam in the mother of all butt-kickings. Bill Clinton had few downsides. People worried about losing houses, or their lives (in a nuclear flash) aren’t going for the fairy tale. Pierced and tattooed twentysomethings at Starbucks notwithstanding.
Bubba may not be a genius, but he’s not stupid either. The Dem electorate? That’s another question.
whiskey_199 on January 8, 2008 at 3:29 PM
In all seriousness, it takes a scary level of hubris for her to keep claiming she has thirty-five years of experience.

It is Hillary colored. Along with the Hillary-colored grass in the Hillary, which is a city that has Hillary Park at its center. Think of it like the smurfs, only replace the word “smurf” with Hillary.

ReubenJCogburn on January 8, 2008 at 4:05 PM
I think if we want to put a stake in the Clinton ambitions once and for all, they have to be stomped - HARD - by their own party. Look at Kerry, who by all rights shouldn’t have been their nominee in 2004, but because he came THIS CLOSE to winning, he will never stop thinking about trying again.
The Clintons need a full-bore rejection from the party they almost single-handedly destroyed in the 1990s on the altar of their personal popularity. Let Hillary languish as New York’s JUNIOR senator in perpetuity. But the further she remains from 1600 Pennsylvania, the safer we all are.
sulla on January 8, 2008 at 4:17 PM
Bryan, Great analogy about Happy Days and the Clintons. Bill always saw himself as the coolest guy in the room. He loved having Gore around him to play the role of Ward Cleaver while Clinton indulged in his JR Ewing fantasy life.
Clinton saw himself also as the Fonzie while Gore and the other dorks were Richie Cunningham and Potzie.
But I think there is an even greater analogy that explains the Clinton rage. It is from “The Fresh Prince”. Obama is now in the Will Smith role and Bill is in the role of the dorky cousin. Will got to wear the cool oversize clothes and got the girls while the cousin wore the nice knits and argyles and never got the girl. Clinton went to Dartmouth College thinking the college kids would see him as they did on MTV in 1992. But instead, the kids saw Clinton, not as a hipster, but as Uncle Jesse from The Dukes of Hazzard.

What about minority groups and soccer moms? Plus, all the ragtag, lefty fringers, and unions? The youth vote isn’t the only thing he’s got going for him.
