Is Hillary going to win this thing? Update: Diebold! Update: Hillary rebounds among women

A steady four-point lead with fully one-third of precincts of reporting. Geraghty’s source says the early result is misrepresentative, but Michael Barone thinks she’s in the game and there’s some word of exit polls being “re-weighted.”

Has the Second Coming of the Messiah already been aborted? And if so, how many times are we going to hear the “15 percent lie” cited as an explanation tomorrow? Looks like America might be racist again.

Update: Obama’s already cut it to two in the past few minutes. Any loss within single digits will be spun by Hillary, not entirely unreasonably, as a momentum-stopper, so it’s a fairly good night for her already.

Update (Bryan): Hold the phone, she’s back up to a four-point lead. Comeback Kid’s Revenge in the making?

Update: Hmmm — Fox News is reporting that the college towns have yet to be counted.

Update: Spin or omen?

Update: The either/or excuse to go with the “15 percent lie”: Diebold!

Update: The secret to Hillary’s surprise? She recaptured the women’s vote that Obama won in Iowa, taking New Hampshire’s women by 13 points. Did the tears do the trick? As for independents, surprisingly, Obama’s lead is only seven points.

Update: Lowry offers an intriguing, staggeringly ironic theory. Did press hype for the Messiah suppress turnout among independents?

In South Carolina, Hux and O-bomb are set to do well. Silk won’t quit. Arthur refuses to retire. ‘Tudee and Bill’s Hills will keep raising money. When Mikey steps up we’ll have two New York mayors on the ballot. Ron “SS” Paul will never admit poor judgement. Same with Kooks. McCain joined the wrong party decades ago. Willard is going to save us all.

I think this primary race will keep going on and on through every state. This favors Silk because he has the most energy. It’s going to be close for the Deeps and the Reeps the whole way through.

Please! Somebody drop out! Maybe Richie.

indythinker on January 8, 2008 at 10:48 PM

It is a stunning win. She shunned interviews everywhere because they were all already proclaiming the second coming. Right after her speech she is going to start making a list of broadcasters that shunned her and payback is a bitch from the Clintonistas..

Vince Foster must be rolling in his grave….

On FNC old Juan seems to be experiencing a massive “O” right now……Bill K. keeps sticking it to him this evening in a very demeaning way. Britt seems oblivious. I can’t figure out if they are pleased or pissed over these results.

dustoffmom on January 8, 2008 at 10:42 PM

Tha’s ’cause they’re fair and unbalanced…er, balanced.

If you can’t read them then that mean’s the politician’s plan to move the primary up in order to bore voters to death before the real election worked.

faraway on January 8, 2008 at 10:45 PM

I don’t get the whole Obama inspires hope thing. Hope for what? Is it because he seems nice? Or maybe it’s his race? I am a political junkie and I am hard-pressed to come up with a single new or inspiring idea he has put forth, so I have no idea what it is they are hoping for.

The people who founded our country were inspired by ideas, not a cult of personality.

What is this change that is needed? Nobody will tell me what this is. I like my country. I think it’s pretty damn cool.

gator70 on January 8, 2008 at 10:51 PM

Wasn’t Olber-freak dumping on O-Bomb in favor of Bill’s Hills forever until just nown when the Kosmeister pulled rank? Then a few days ago with the polls showing an O-Bomb blowout Olber-dork undumped on O-Bomb and re-dumped on Bill’s Hills, and now the Granitites pulled rank and re-dumped O-Bomb and re-upped on Bill’s Hills. I guess the peasants aren’t listening to orders anymore.

indythinker on January 8, 2008 at 10:51 PM

Hussein Obama is just a good motivational speaker. Maybe Lou Holtz should run for President.

faraway on January 8, 2008 at 10:52 PM

..a couple of people have mentioned to me: Could it be possible that independents figured, with the press coverage, that Obama was going to win no matter what, so they decided if they were going to have any effect they should vote in the Republican primary?

Oh geez, voters don’t swim in schools like Amberjack that run away in terror from a great white shark, if they were, the great white HillBill would never get a vote.

Which “them” are you referring to here…..candidates or talking heads? Bored?? Hell no, my playoffs have just begun, gawd I relish this stuff. Much more interesting than football or baseball. :)

Oh my heavens…..Obama is getting more preachy than even the Huckster….feel like I should either hit my knees right about now or hop up and give a rousing salute!

I listened to about 30 seconds of Obama’s speech tonight, since that’s all I could stand. He was talking about the founders, and abolitionists, and a bunch of civil rights stuff from the 60s.

WTF? He’s so full of shit I almost can’t believe it. Abolitionists? You’re from Hawaii! Get over yourself, douchebag. The people that are supporting this assclown are going to eventually wake up and realize that the President has to do budgets, and pass laws, and pay for things, and build roads. But he never has to worry about slavery or the underground railroad. And they’re going to be embarrassed that they got suckered by some community activist from Chicago.

What a joke.

Jaibones on January 8, 2008 at 11:28 PM

Obama cannot be president. He is too self-righteous. It’s nice to see a black man do well in the presidential race. Obama himself needs some personal growth.

Edwards is like Dukakis but with better hair and communication. He’s soft on terror and morals and cannot win.

Clinton can’t win either. She is for “change” and for the historical first woman as president. Yet, she is an establishment candidate married to a former president.

Hillary alternates between a self-righteous know-it-all and an approval-and-emotional-support-seeking lady with 300 cats in her house.

Are the Dems going to keep calling for surrender in Iraq as more Americans realize the war is pretty much won now? Talk about walking into a trap. The Dems walked into it a few years ago when they went antiwar. Paging “Joseph Lieberman.” Paging “Joseph Lieberman.”

As long as the GOP nominates McCain, Romney, Giuliani. Thompson, or anyone who isn’t Huckabee or “The Mad Doctor”, the Republicans will win.

indythinker on January 8, 2008 at 11:49 PM

Michael Steele is on Fox.

amerpundit on January 8, 2008 at 11:52 PM

Now she’s back to 4% up.

Nice to see Huckabee with 11%, a nonfactor. Sick to see Fred with 1,200 votes. Ron Paul has him 8 to 1.

Quit.

Jaibones on January 8, 2008 at 10:45 PM

Fred himself said that he wasn’t trying in New Hampshire. He will play better in South Carolina and on Super Tuesday.

Besides, New Hampshire veers so far left that I’m sure that when you fall asleep in your car there that you go into oncoming traffic.

And if so, how many times are we going to hear the “15 percent lie” cited as an explanation tomorrow? Looks like America might be racist again.

It’s worth noting that to the extent the 15% discrepency does exist, it exists on the left. After all this was a Democratic primary.

Spolitics on January 9, 2008 at 12:12 AM

Edwards ought to dominate the cleft palate vote.

flyfisher on January 8, 2008 at 10:23 PM

LOL! He went on and on about that guy, no?

sarahk on January 9, 2008 at 2:11 AM

Here’s the thing: to destroy one of the undead, it’s not enough to drive a stake through its heart. You then must cut off its head, and burn both the head and the body, preferably separately. Also, most Nosferatu (and Nosferatettes) will have several “safe coffins” that are filled with soil from their native land, eg, Illinois, Arkansas and New York: to be on the safe side, you should also find these and destroy them.

Unfortunately, many people have been mislead by the movies into thinking that the stake through the heart is enough. Clearly this is a decades-long strategy perpetrated by the Clinton-Hollywood axis that is just now paying off.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Levy on January 9, 2008 at 2:32 AM

When Hillary says she found her voice, I hope she discovered one that’s far less shrill and unnerving. Please, Hillary, start using those new vocal chords before my ear drums hemorrhage.

Jockolantern on January 9, 2008 at 2:51 AM

After those tears the other day, I got so emotional I accidentaly went to my polling place to cast my vote.

I than slapped myself in the face and realized my primary is not for a couple of weeks.

Remember, the smartest woman in the world has plenty more up her sleve.

Jim Treacher on January 9, 2008 at 7:58 AM

With a mouth big enough to drive a truck through therefore, the “Mouth that Roars Boars”.

With history fresh in the mind of the voter they should have seen the crying stint was planned. Planting questions is standard MO and her and “Wild Bill’s” friends in Hollywood taught the Clinton’s to cry on cue.

The sound of change to them is the Cha-ching of a cash register in which money goes in and no change ever comes out because they only accept exact change.
