Er, good news: NBC video now embeddable in blogs

posted at 12:14 pm on January 8, 2008 by Allahpundit

The dream of ages realized: High-quality network news video in embeddable players for easy posting. No recording, no cutting, no uploading. It’s all right there for your easy posting convenience. What a super development. Yes sirree.

Ummmmmm, just out of curiosity: Anyone hiring? I have … no marketable skills, really. But I work hard!

Let’s also acknowledge that one man saw this coming. Well, one man on this site. Well, no, I’m sure Bryan saw it coming too. But I think we’d both agree that what NBC needs to do now is move away from this clip-based format to putting all of their content online and letting users edit what they want. The technology exists. Soon, soon.

The real beauty of it? It’s not just their hard news content that they’re embedding. Dude.

Blowback

Our new series of Friday night videos?

Ugh…gross. Just what the blogosphere needs. Couldn’t watch beyond the “I just want a hug” part.

PamM on January 8, 2008 at 12:21 PM

I watched that Wallstrip from some months ago where they interviewed one the NBC execs and she indicated that they were pushing hard to get their content out under their own brand and counter the youtube movement. Kinda OT, but I’m hoping Fox rolls out some innovation soon, as it stands right now NBC (and by ext MSNBC) have better online templates and accessibility then Fox – maybe they will use Fox Business’s.

How does Dateline still catch people like this? Are there really that many of these guys out there? Freaky.

Spirit of 1776 on January 8, 2008 at 12:26 PM

Wow all my prayers have been answered. How did I ever blog without this…

HotAirExpert on January 8, 2008 at 12:29 PM

Sorry I will not click. I want to watch a clip of “news”, not a commercial for Olberdouche or little blue pills.

They entrap them. Watch an episode. Nearly every time they talk about someone who backed off, and Perverted Justice (quite an apt name) actively entices them to commit a crime. Why these activities haven’t been decried as entrapment has continued to baffle me, though I know a bunch of cases were dropped when it was found that police protocol was completely discarded for the cameras. The suicide of one of their subjects didn’t help either.

I’m waiting for the opposite to happen…Hot Air TV. It will come. yes, it will come.

I watched the first one in it’s entirety, as it was a big deal at the time. I get the complaints that the process is a little shady, but that’s like me complaining about AP banning me for something I say in response to something you say. I logged on here, I read what you said, I responded. The onus is on me.

True to an extent, but watch another episode. You’ll see a guy who logs off, and they go after him later, initiating conversation themselves. I totally agree that if the guy is stupid enough to go to the house, he gets what he deserves. However, these Perv-Justice people should be just as guilty for enthusiastically pushing the event to happen, all for the sake of television exposure.

MadisonConservative on January 8, 2008 at 12:40 PM

Yech! I kicked the TV habit largely due to the garbage on NBC and PMSNBC but now I get to watch it on HotAir? No thanks.

Jose Chupacabra on January 8, 2008 at 12:44 PM

Well, that’s uncool.

…all for the sake of television exposure

Why do you presume to know their motive?

Spirit of 1776 on January 8, 2008 at 12:45 PM

Someone needs to simply bed Olby. It’s the obvious reason he’s so grouchy.

They’re on nationwide television. Tell me they don’t love it, and I’ll tell you Bill Richardson will be our next president.

MadisonConservative on January 8, 2008 at 12:48 PM

They pre-existed. They didn’t just form to go on TV, if anything Dateline is using them for ratings.

Spirit of 1776 on January 8, 2008 at 12:51 PM

I’m sure there’s something wrong with me, but I think “To Catch a Predator” is probably the greatest comedy ever.

Have you tried WalMart?

Kini on January 8, 2008 at 12:55 PM

Just out of curiosity, how in the world is it not entrapment to not only have the girl there, but then sitting in front of the guy?

Is it because the guy is initiated the conversation?

I’m also going on local news reports that investigated the operation. Chris Hanson was somewhat willing to talk to them, but Perverted Justice got real hostile, real quick when asked about their methods. There’s plenty on YouTube.

At the very very end I swear I think a bro was tased.

Please, all these guys show up, and they have intent. They bring gifts and everything. No one holds a gun to their head to show up at the house. It’s not entrapment.

jayj on January 8, 2008 at 1:22 PM

To be serious, what did the “young girls” script read like?

“Fairy Princess” or “innocent but curious” or “young slut”?

BL@KBIRD on January 8, 2008 at 1:27 PM

At the very very end I swear I think a bro was tased.

And didn’t he squeal!

Also lets not kid ourselves, no decent adult male would go to the house of any 13 y/o girl they didn’t know for anything other than very dubious reasons.

Just look at those mugshots, stereotypes are often very accurate…

Why do you stumble over weather this is good or not Allah? you clearly think its good. so whats with the false indecision? whats with it? hm? what? tell us. NOW
