I don’t think you’ll see any candidates slapping BOR or Rush too hard. Those two men have the attention of more Americans every day then exists in any candidates wetest dream (and therefore moocho public influence)

I think the rise of Huck is basically a message to the Republican party. Think about it … previously, the evangelical base was first being blamed for the Dem takeover last election cycle, then the MSM was perpetuating the myth that evangelicals are being ignored and will likely stay home in 2008 as payback. Some evangelical leaders tried to scream to get noticed, but were told that elect-ability was more important than “petty” issues like abortion, marriage, church/state (most underestimate how important these “petty” issues are to evangelicals… abortion for most evangelicals is a non-negotiable.) Huck saw this and decided to tap into that base by talking the evangelical talk (sprinkled with fear mongering about Mormons). What better way to send a message to the republican establishment than to up the poll numbers of a candidate that could only be popular because of his evangelical cred? Its a simple message….. don’t ignore us.

If Fred, or anyone else for that matter, would reach out to the evangelicals, saying “yes” to the important evangelical issues (primarily abortion), and also on all the other conservative issues, I think it would be easy to peel them away from Huck.

Note: For non-evangelicals to demean evangelicals by calling them dim-wits, one issue voters, idiots, or corn-suckers will not win them over. It will do exactly what the MSM wants, divide the party.

Straight question. Aside from SCOTUS, do you think the next President will have the opportunity and votes to move toward restrictions on the 2nd?

He cannot win.

POTUS is about more than idealogy, it is about competence and leadership. Fred appears short on both if you honestly look at his record as a Senator.

The only bill he worked hard to support is McCain/Feingold/Thompson.

Note to self:

When doing satires of Fredheads, include “Get Freducated!” along with “I’m with Fred ‘08!” and “It’s a Fredalanche!”

And just wondering for all the Fredheads put there, if Fred is running against so many RINO liberals and is, quote, “the clear conservative choice,” how come as soon as he got in he’s been in a tailspin in the polls?

Don’t answer. I know you’re going to say “evil MSM dinosaur media hates Fred! It’s a blackout! It’s all evil RINO liberals trying to pawn themselves off as conservative!”

And basically anything other than Fred himself. I don’t try and scapegoat the media or Fred’s so-called “clear conservatism” (clearly laxadaisacal in application, more like) when my guy Romney is faring badly.

Romney = gun grabber who “saw the light”… right before he decided to run for president. reminds me of a used car salesman
Huckabee = thinks the gov’t is somewhere people should look to in times of need. Likes taxes. Will govern like a republican Jimmy Carter.
Guilani = tough, but a liberal gun grabber who has more skeletons in his closet than Dahmer.
McCain = McCain-kennedy? Shamnesty? show me a bill that is “mccain-anything” that isn’t sticking a thumb in the eye of conservatives.
Ron Paul = Ron Paul.

How can any of you support any of these candidates?

Other than Duncan Hunter… who has gotten no traction either, Fred IS the conservative candidate. Have republicans just decided to throw the conservatives under the bus in favor of “liberal-lite”? Hunter and Thompson are the ones who are straight shooters… but you just can’t boil them down to 6 sec soundbites that can be digested by little minds with little desire to understand the issues. That is why Thompson doesn’t like “hand shows” and is the only candidate who’ll tell the media where to stick it.

I don’t want someone who makes me “feel good”. I want someone who “IS” good. I don’t want someone who tells me what I want to hear, I want someone to tell me how it is. Did any of you actually see Fred in the debates when he told that stupid moderator how it was going to be? I think he’d do the same thing to the UN, Iran and N. Korea and that’s good enough for me… I don’t care if he’s laid back or if he kisses Rupert Murdoch’s ring.

Did I get headlined in a thread? Something tells me I don’t really want to know the context. ;-)

I’m talking about now. I think a lot of people were jazzed about him because they knew who he was from watching L&O, not because they knew who he was. Now, with the media not playing nice (which is part but not all of it), it’s snowballed into this. The Domino Effect is cruel in that the only way to stop the momentum (in this case the anti-momentum) is to remove something. I’m not really sure what that something is. I haven’t decided, because I wouldn’t respect pandering to the media, kissing babies or a**, or changing his positions. I do believe he still has a good shot, and I agree with several posters that Rush is a closet FredHead.
